Have you ever googled what this song is about? Its about a soldier writing a suicide note to his mother that he has a bad relationship with. Its sad because my father was a soldier.
This album has two people singing. The Parader and The Cancer Patient. The Parader is otherwise known as Death. He has taken many souls and has heard it all so he mocks the patient over how he lived his life throughout most of the album until the Patient comes to terms with himself in the track "Disenchanted". The Parader starts feeling sympathy for him because he too lived a life of regret that ended with his tragic death in the war a long time ago. Both the Patient and the Parader felt as if they were dying alone. This is the Parader singing about doing things that were against his morals while apologizing to his mother because she still loved him. There was no bad relationship between them and the mother ends up crying for him after he dies in battle. The songs that start off with acoustics are that of the Patient singing. Like "I Don't Love You" which is a song about his lover leaving him while he is dying of cancer. The songs that start off with heavy rock or have bomb sounds, the parade, and sirens are that of the Parader.
I dont think its a suicide note... They are just hopeless and didn't expect to survive in the war... and they didnt have a bad relationship because He probably insisted to go to war and his mother hate his decision saying "If you go dont return to me, my love" but he really go so she said "you aint son of mine" .. Then he probably regrets it saying he could have been a better son, by not opposing or upsetting his mother ...
That's what my 16 year old says now😂🤣 I'm like ummm I was 18 when they came out and you weren't even a thought in my head yet lol I'm taking her to the reunion show Covid rescheduled and I'm think I'm gonna have a shirt that says "Mama" and hers will say "Teenager". 🤣😂
As someone who was abused by their mother, this feels almost like a mocking song being like "Yeah. We all die ya bitch". I don't know why.... but I also love that really fucked up lullaby at the end. Like all the voices of Hell have just risen up to scream to the heavens....
Song's actually about a child sent to war and die. The air raid siren while gerard says "Mama! mama! mama!" Is more like a child crying for help as they're slowly getting slaughtered. This song's more much about of a grieving mother losing her son in the war rather than a mocking song about the mom
Honestly, i thought the line 'well, mother, whats the war did to my legs and to my tongue' was actually 'Well mother was the warden to my legs and to my tongue' It made me relate to it so much but its still good
This song hits different when you got mother issues. "Mama, we're full of lies. Mama, we're meant for the flies. And right now, they're building a coffin you're size. Mama we're full of lies."
Esta parte me identifica "She said: You ain't no son of mine, for what you've done, they're gonna find a place for you,and just you mind your manners when you go". Perdón si puse mal alguna coma,no soy experta en inglés
Me knowing this song talks about the pain of the war and not having had time to get in better terms with your family before leaving: Also my trans ass: wait is this about us?
