SPOILERS!!! He starts hearing voices out on the city street, and tries to call home, but gets no answer. He panics, and runs home to find his mother looking like she's worse for wear. He makes soup for her, but she bails (maybe she doesn't like that brand of soup?), and he hears something moving in the house he perceives as a threat. He grabs Mom, and they hide in the bathroom, where she exhibits a new Demonic appearance. Okay, so my take on this was: He's in his 20's (That's when you're more likely to have your first psychotic break). Mom is either really dead (classic "Psycho"), or she's suffering from dementia, and he can't handle the loss of Mom (the person), while grappling with Mom (the invalid). No longer being the woman who raised and cared for him growing up, he may perceive this new form of her as a shell of herself, a zombie of sorts. There is still a desire to protect her, as best he can, but the ominous sound he hears represents the unknown threat of what is to come... I already read some of the comments from the director stating that this didn't go the way they planned, and there was uncertainty about the meaning. I think a story about someone suffering from schizophrenia or psychosis being the caretaker for someone with dementia could be terrifying, heartbreaking, and fascinating (and it wouldn't have to have a depressing ending)... :)
Wow! I’m just going to copy and paste this to use it as the description for the video haha, fantastic deduction! The ending definitely would have played different if we didn’t fall under the time constraints that we had on the project. Looking back on it now there would be two scenes that we would add at the least to bring the story around, but it is what it is. Thank you for leaving this comment! Cinematography was fantastic!! I was thinking finally a great short horror! However, can I be the idiot here and all about the ending? I don’t the plot. Was that his mom? Why did he rush to her? Why did…just why. Please explain this to me so I can enjoy it even more😂
Thank you for the compliment! I suppose Truman felt that his mom was in danger from the sound he had heard and knew that there was “another” presence in the house, which lead to him rushing to protect her. However looking back there are many things that we would have changed about the short film and that is one of them haha
@@roadkillstudio I'm guessing he was just afraid of her ruining the carpet by drooling tomato soup all over the floor at the end!!!! :( New carpets aren't cheap, these days!!!! :(
I don't know Truman but he did a great job. I don't mean to sound ignorant but can somebody please explain the film? I obviously understand everything going on and totally get the ending but I just want to hear someone else's interpretation. Hahaha 🕊️
We are also waiting on an explanation haha! This is the first time that any of us have filmed a short. So our concept certainly fell short for how we intended the story to play out, but next year we hope to have many more release! Going to get better and better hopefully!
