Mama vs The Funeral 

A black funeral is not a black funeral without the ‘program.’

Getting an extra obituary to take to someone is like taking them a plate from a family function😂

I didn’t even know May, but I’m invested in her whole, Home Going. 1. Why, did she wear that red dress. Umhh! 2. Not a horse and carriage ride past the job. Mercy! 3. Where’s the repas? Who made the potato salad? (Loraine can’t cook) 4.Not on the Crack! Ugh! EJ, you crack me up. Thanks for all you hard work and the laughs. 🤣💕🤣

This right here was my Mom. She just recently passed away and I still cannot believe it. But this was her. She loved going to funerals and we’ve heard all of this from her🤣. Me and my siblings knew that her service had to be an “event”. The service was a beautiful tribute to our Mommy. We had plenty of programs, plenty of food and plenty of money to pay for everything. I know she’s proud of how we honored her. Thank you so much for these much needed laughs.

At 14 my 1yr cousin shu shu passed and at the funeral my great aunt his grandma who was blind fell on the casket and almost knocked it over. Then at the grave yard she tried to jump in the hole with the casket. I told myself once I got grown I wasn't going to no more damn funerals. I'm in trauma therapy now.😔

All I can say is when i watch you I don't know whether to laugh or cry thinking about my Grandmother what raised me. 😂

I got some bad news yesterday and hearing "This is a ridiculous and the wig that has a life of its own cheered me right up.

I saw myself in "I wanna go up there and say something...but I dunno what to say." Public speaking is a nightmare scenario for me so at my mom's funeral I read a short poem and kinda sorta greeted/thanked people for their love and support. I wasn't about to be up there rambling too long, then boohooing and needing help to sit back down in my chair lol

Whew childdddd, my MIL wrote her own obituary, only a few things had to be tweaked. My husband followed her instructions to the letter and dared anyone say a damn thing including his brothers (they are janky). It went off without no drama including the repast. We took care of her until the end. But people (family) will try you.

We don’t play about our “funes”(my granny’s voice),our obituaries & our repasts😂. My mom told us not to waste all of her life insurance money on her funeral trying to “show out for the folks”🤣
