esna is a korean-american singer/songwriter who wound up joining rbw shortly after the agency officially formed, though she'd been working in korea for at least 2 years before that. she actually helped with a fair amount of mamamoo's songs, being listed as lyricist for "hello" and "words don't come easy", writer for "hehehaheho", "don't be happy" and composer for "hello", "peppermint chocolate" and "piano man". she also did work with several other artists as well, including 4minute someone else mentioned that "ahh oop" was supposed to be her debut song but she was convinced to share it with mamamoo but then kind of got bumped out of her own song because of the way koreans responded to her (they thought she was 'too old' even though she's barely older than solar. and didn't like her style or attitude because they weren't 'feminine' enough). there's more to it than that, of course, but that's what started the issues... she has since left both the agency and south korea, is back living in los angeles. she still absolutely loves mamamoo, though, always gushing about going to see them any time they happen to come to the states and often being their host/translator during events such as kcon, even if she has to cross the country to see them. the girls also absolutely love her and it's always a cute, chaotic mess when the five get to see each other

even today, I still Cant believe that Piano Man released right after their debut cause how mature the music and their vocal is, Wheein's adlib alone just throwed me off guard. theres kinda sad story behind the ahh opp song, its supposed to be Esna's long waited comeback solo, she write and compose the song but the company make it a duet song with Mamamoo probably since theyre rookie at the time and need more exposure, their stage performance are so fun to watch, vocal and stage presence for days. Piano man is my fave during their jazzy days. Esna used to be in the same company with Mamamoo, their senior I believe. The song is a controversial one, Esna wrote the song and it was suppisedly to be her single, but a producer convinced her to sing it w/ the girls. Then the promo of the song, basically they did dirty on her. It's on YT page where she talked about it. She is still close to the girls. She hosted their LA fanmeet and Kcon fam meets in the U.S. Oh uhm ah yeah is such a gay song. 🤣 Dispatch made a mistake thought that Solar is dating some dude. It turns out to be Moonbyul. Ahaha this is the birth of MoonSun ship. Moonbyul is Yul. Wheein is Kuku. Hwasa is Ricky. There crack vids where they try to pick up a chick from the street, going to the men's locker and bathroom. 🤣
"um oh ah yeah" was their first foray into a more mainstream pop sound, though they've obviously visited it since. and, though it didn't get their first win, it did earn them a lot more attention than their earlier works many take the mv to be a playful take on 'what if girls did the 'boys will be boys' stuff guys often get away with', though not everyone agrees with that take because of the ending, where solar finds out byul's character was a girl the whole time and then they go right into the 'i'm falling for you' chorus, the song has become a gay anthem in south korea, guaranteed to be played at every pride festival in the country. the way the girls support the community in both big ways and small helps quite a bit, too, of course. and you'll hear a lot of mamamoo at pretty much any lgbtq event in south korea there are quite a few live versions of this that are worth mentioning for various reasons, as well as at least one other studio version they've got a short acapella mv, with the girls and a beatboxer being the instrumentation. the behind the scenes mmmtv episode of this is also worth mentioning, since it was filmed on or around hwasa's birthday and the other girls tried to prank her at the shoot, but she turned the tables on them after that, they did a live acapella performance that used the acapella mv as the backtrack, performed at the amn 2015 then there's the 'part switch' or 'part swap' version they did on showchampion episode 154. moonbyul sang some of solar's lines and solar and wheein split byul's rap. the adlibs for this one were funny too, pointing out the role changes and ending with 'hwasa, you do both?' and then there's inkigayo 20150621, where moonbyul and hwasa changed to their male personas, yul and ricky, partway through the performance, which still has a lot of people asking how they pulled that off and last up, not an individual performance, but very much worth mentioning would be the adlib compilation for the performances, since several parts of the song were specifically designed for the girls to change them up in live performances, often mentioning the location or audience where they were performing, other artists performing with them or just goofiness in general... they did this for several of their songs, sometimes even incorporating key dances from other group's songs into their adlibs instead of something vocal. all of this was a big reason they've been the second most requested artists at college festivals and similar... the way they had fun, incorporated the audience and just changed things up every time, to keep things fresh. (psy was the only artist more requested than mamamoo at these festivals, one of the reasons mamamoo was able to pay off their company debt in under two years from debut) oh man, and how could i forget the two teasers they released for this song? both used the members in their male personas. one had moonbyul, wheein and hwasa sneak into a male dressing room at a spa or bathhouse and freak out at all the half-dressed men (who were other rbw artists or others their ceo asked favors from) and the other had byul and hwasa trying to pick up a woman while hanging out in byul's character's car. they were just ridiculous
Yes, I am enjoying your journey. I started my journey in Feb. 2017 when I happen to see on youtube 4 beautiful ladies in different color suits on a stage. I had to check them out and the song was Wonderful Confession. I heard angels, and haven't stopped listening since. All Moomoos know that the 14 Immortal Songs is a must-listen. Thank you.
Happy to see that you're going to do "Girl Crush"! Most new Moomoos either don't know about that one; or they forget about it! Also, you're about to enter Mamamoo's breakout year which is 2016! They made 10 mvs in that year alone; including TWO subunit videos (that was a mini competition between the girls)! Needless to say, you're going to LOVE the next 3-4 weeks of Mamamoo videos! ENJOY!

Um Oh Ah Yeh is special because it's the source of Mamamoo's first "dating scandal". Photos of Solar with a mysterious guy were leaked(twitter.com/mmm4plus/status/1262534846523609091) and the internet was ablaze...except that everything was 100% fake. The "guy" was Moonbyul dressed in her outfit from this video! 😂Only Mamamoo would even think of doing this and have it actually fool people.
