Idk why people criticize others for liking their early stuff better. It’s not an uncommon opinion in many fandoms. There’s nothing wrong with showing appreciation for past works. I felt the same way with BTS. I felt the same way with Beyonce. I felt the same way with Mariah Carey 😂. I felt the same way with Linkin Park, Eminem, and a hundred other artists. Moomoos, all music lovers tend to compare newer music unfavorably at first because there is already a deep appreciation/love for the old stuff. It’s not until later I begin to appreciate the newer music and place them with the older stuff more fairly.
I believe Mamamoo also realize this. go watch Solar video about hate comment. she reads one of the comment said "mamamoo early era are the best". and she response by saying it would be their big concern in the future. but again, we have to appreciate them, at least they gain more popularity now, who knows if they stay on the same genre and style they wouldn't be like what they are now. isn't that what we moomoo wants? they're not underrated anymore.
Here is a little insight to those who want them to go back to their old style: If you've been a fan of Mamamoo for a long time and consider yourself as a moomoo, you pretty much know that they're not the typical kpop group. I've seen "a lot" of people in real life that said a very close-minded opinion about the music that as a group/band they need to pick their style. Mamamoo as a group are so versatile, and I consider them as an artist rather than just an ordinary girl group. If you said that you liked more of their old stuff compare to the new songs, it's totally understandable. I have some of their songs which also isn't really my cup of tea. Of course there are some songs/music genre that you don't like, but hey it's something you'd expect from the group who did a lot of different genre. They can't please everybody here in this world. There's a different between comparing their old/new songs vs if you only want them to go back to their old era/style. Please be more open-minded, if you chose the second option it means that you're limiting their talents and don't really appreciate them as an artist. For me personally, I already knew and of course most of you guys already knew that their vocals are amazing. They don't need to prove that again and again cause we already knew they can. If they decided to do a different style, it is in fact gave them a plus point of how far their talents are. That's why they're unique and different from other group.
This gonna be the only time I address the thing going on between you and some Moomoos cause it's pretty stupid, but yea, I'm glad that you seem finally able to enjoy their music again. Last year it been like you are always in some defensive mode "Is this one gonna sound like THAT song that I dislike so much" "Am I gonna get hate over this reaction". With how large MMM discography goes, we all gonna have some we like and some we don't, and that's totally fine. I, personally, would kill to have a rock era. But all in all, it's supposed to be fun and enjoyable, this ride we have with them. I'm just glad that that feeling seems to came back to you.
wow really well said. Your words actually change my opinion on the problem. I got into mmm for their jazz and rnb type of music and don't be happy is always my favorite from them, but after they began to try new things they go to several ways that are not bad but just not for my taste. I stay for their performances and beautiful souls but can't help feeling disappointed sometimes. But what you say really make me see different on the problem and I am now looking forward to testing out new genres with the girls and their composers. I have faith in rbw when it is about music anyways.
I feel the same, I felt their culmination came with decalcommanie, and after that song, they started following (or maybe leading I dunno) trends and traditional kpop choreography in lieu of showcasing their vocal range, harmonization and their persona. Having said that, this album is EVERYTHING I loved about MMM, and is a return to form.
@@casualsuede I actually think it started at the four seasons. Decal's album is very mmm and the title track is more poppy but still very old mmm? they tried many new stuff in 4seasons and I now understand and support them.
When I first listened to Black, I’d say my early favorite was 4x4ever and Hello Mama. Hello Mama actually did make me call my mom b/c we live in different countries now and I do miss her. When I read the lyrics I had to grit my teeth from crying lol. Songs like this always makes me feel guilty for some reason! Like I feel bad for living my life and not checking up my mom like she does for me. Brrr lol. Now that its been close to a month, I would say my 3 favorite songs are: Hello Mama, Ten Nights and High Tension.
I've listened to Hello Mama a lot of times but I've never went to search the lyrics and I started crying in the fourth verse, this music is powerfull, and it makes me miss melting era so much.
"I really would love to make a video on what makes MAMAMOO ballad so recognisable" MAKE IT HAPPEN UMU. MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!!!! MAKE IT HAPPEN SO NOOBS AND NUGUS LIKE ME CAN UNDERSTAND WITHOUT HAVING A BRAIN FART PLEASE.
Thank you for your wonderful reaction to Mamamoo's Reality in BLACK album, especially to Hello Mama (which is one of my favorite tracks). The kind of versatility of Mamamoo with their vocal is unparalleled, and this album contains wall-to-wall goodness of amazing songs.
When I first heard Ten Nights I was enchanted by the vocals, but when I read the lyrics I realized exactly how sad it is and now I can't listen to it without crying
Listening to moonbyul in ten night makes me oddly satisfied. She really deserve it, being trained as vocal but change into rap. Imagine u dream to be something and tried so hard to get it but told that you're better be something else.
It's funny that she's actually said she felt a little uncomfortable taking the belting part of Ten Nights when it was given to her; since she had transitioned to being the rapper and also that the group has such strong vocals in the other three.
l p yeah its not funny at all that her company stopped her vocal training.. she lost her confidence.. she is gaining it slowly and u can tell that she is getting trained in 2019.. she literally was re introduced as vocalist in 2018..
Because music is a humble and obedient servant of Mamamoo, not the other way around, now I would like to hear their rock album :) Because I'm sure it would be something wonderful and unique. Oh, and a few songs with their scat singing :)
hhhhhh my mum and i used to have a really bad relationship bc she had an addiction that wrecked our family, and she became a horrible person. i was always really bitter about not being able to have those mother daughter moments that i could see all my friends having. everytime i listen to hello mama i think about how lonely and awful that time was when i felt i had no mother even when she was right in front of me. i also think about how thankful i am now that she's getting better and i get to hug her and see her everyday. tldr; i can't listen to hello mama without crying, mamamoo really have created a special song.
I’ve only ever looked at some line distributions for MMM and for the most part, they are split pretty evenly. Byul gets slightly less b/c she’s a rapper but that’s not unusual. I was pretty curious about that as well when I got into pop.
A few days ago, my mom (single mother... works in another country...) came back home and this one day we were together in my room, she was watching tv (yes, in MY room) and I was on my laptop, then I started checking the lyrics of all the songs of Reality in Black... first 30-40 seconds of Hello Mama... And I looked at her and said "Here, this song is for you", like my mom doesn't know Korean, I started reading the English translation... aaaand started crying while reading it... Moonbyul's part went directly into my heart: "Turning on the light in a dark room I lay on the bed and think Mama, I can’t be the only one having a hard time I want to keep leaning on you the tears that fall even if I hold them back still like a child in your embrace I look back suddenly while walking from your back appearance that slowly becomes smaller... "
some of the lyric videos you were using were just so wrong 😂 lol. But I’m sure you know that already. But sometimes im like, how the hell do they get wheein and hwasa mixed up lol.
Even worse: Wheein and Solar. I can actually kinda understand Wheein and Hwasa sometimes but Solar... HOW? 😂 Kinda sad that most people blindly follow line distribution vids that are obviously full of mistakes (most of the time). I think only people who are confident about their "voice knowledge" should make such vids. ^^
@@iswjyiswjy I agree. When I first started in k-pop stuff, I used to be impressed by these ultra fast uploaded lyric videos but then after knowing MMM for so long now, I'm just like wtf are these people deaf or lazy? Then I just realize they just doing it for the most views. Even if the lyrics are straight horrible translations. It's actually a little upsetting, I never watch certain lyric translation channels anymore. I swear, I've even seen them mix up Byul once before. Like how is that possible? Lol For MMM, I can only trust Lily and Ch0sshi.
its so soo nice to see your face light up again while listening to mmm songs... just know that moomoos like me are v open minded and will defo understand that some will like part/whole of mmm songs.. and thats totally fine..
Thank you for reacting to all the songs. There are alot of reactora that just listen to hip, which is great. But I wish more ppl will listen to their other songs. It really shows how talented MMM actually is.
I really love your reactions to mamamoo as well as the insight on the musical elements! Really makes your reaction videos unique. Thanks for the great content :D
Thank you so much Umu for reacting to reality in Black. I was waiting for this reaction for a long time. Thought it would never come out 😭 I've seen you say something about how you wanted to sound more hype and everything for MAMAMOO, but honestly, you don't have to. I was actually one of the people that got upset with your reaction to gogobebe, not because you didn't like it but because you said something like "MAMAMOO wants to promote slacking off instead of studying", which I thought was thinking too far when it's just a fun music video. We are all individuals with different taste, so if you don't like the direction they're taking with their music that's fine too :) I'd rather you really enjoy MAMAMOO's (music) content and tell us your honest feelings even if we may disagree. It's really better than trying to fake loving something when you don't. Anyway, I will wait for part 2 patiently and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week !
As soon as I started listening to Hello Mama I just started crying. It's not even because of my mom, it's just the song in general. I also ofc didn't understand what they're saying (first listen, didn't look up the lyrics yet) but they poured out their hearts while recording this song and you can really feel it. So I think that's why I died inside after just a few seconds. I think that's the first song that made me cry *this fast* . 🥺❤
Your reaction is very good! I love the way you guys love mamamoo's voices, that's why i always look forward to your reaction video. BTW, there are some mistakes of the lyrics distribution in the videos, for example, the fist two lines of Ten Night part is Wheein (6:27-6:39) not Hwasa, that you can listening carefully to find it out ;). However, whichever member sings that part of mamamoo's songs, there always one way to think about is "why they all can sing soooooo well???" lol
for your information.... moonbyul actually is a singer.... just because all their team mates is good singer... she just learn to rap... and actually she's prepared to be a singer... but i dont regret it.... cuz she can sing and rap now.....❤️❤️❤️ cuz mamamoo makee moonbyul more singing part❤️
Idk but Better kinda sounds weird to me like the melody and beat don't match, I only love Byul's part but seeing MAMAMOO said it's one of their faves and you guys loving it makes me questioning my taste/ear lol but yes Hello Mama is one of my faves too and MMM said all of them cried after recording the song and called their moms too. I think that's why the emotion in the song is so well-delivered and sincere.
