Silvana was pure magic on screen and a class act in life! Her eyes beheld a mystery within them, some secret self that we only caught glimpses of and that's what casts a spell. To watch more and more hypnotized by her beauty!!!
@@noellesaissi2255 I love that film! I made a documentary film called "Bella Ciao! -A Song A Resistance" about the origins of that song in the Po Valley among the women rice workers in the 19th century. In my film I include scenes from the film Bitter Rice starring the magnetic Silvana. She was one of a kind!
Me encantan esos bailes, mi mamá q.e.p.d.
Finta bionda platino, tinta rosso ramata? No, castana verace.
Intrigued by the facts that while (a) Bayón is actually Baião, a northeast-Brazilian rhythm, (b) the lyrics are in Spanish, and (c) the wonderful music, which sounds so quintessentially Latin American, was composed by an Italian. Silvana Mangano was the perfect vehicle for it, even though (d) she lip-synced to the singing of Flo Sandon's [sic], a popular Italian artist of the '50s. The same film, Anna, has another classic number, Non Dimenticar (Don't Forget). Italian music after the '60s may have gained a new dimension with the advent of the singer-songwriter genre, but it also lost some of its wonderfully crafted, seemingly effortless elegance.
Especially beautiful woman, fine here, and it's great to see Shelly Winters and Katherine Dunham in cameos! I think Shelly was married to Vittorio Gassman at this time. There's a very interesting link to the Cuban culture/influence throughout this film. A beautiful post! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing this with everyone. I'm seeing this for the first time. This is from a movie the title of which I don't know. But I notice that there are two reaction shots with Shelly Winters on the left. Love that music!...
This is from a movie the title of which " Mambo" Toni Salermo,...- " Mambo was to be for fun only," The film stars Silvana Mangano as Giovanna Masetti, a poor Venetian who is admired by the crafty croupier Mario Rossi (Vittorio Gassman) and the rich count Enrico Marisoni (Michael Rennie). Discovered by Toni Salerno (Shelley Winters), Giovanna lives out a dream to become a dancer and moves to Rome.
Thanks for the information. Just the other evening, I watched a movie called D'AMORE SI MUORE with Ms. Mangano playing one of the main characters. That was the first time I watched a movie with Ms. Mangano...
It's not explicitly stated in the film (but pretty obviously implied) that Shelly Winter's character is a Lesbian and in love with Silvana Mangano's Just look at her eye lines in the clip. She's besotted.
Everyone, everyone ..- many thanks !!! I am very glad that you enjoyed it. Thank you for attention !
Mambo is the name of the movie from 1954 and directed by Robert Rossen, produced by Carlo Ponti and Dino De Laurentiis. I’ve never seen it, but a really good movie the following year with Shelley Winters in ‘55 - The Night of the Hunter. A great part for Robert Mitchum!
Now I know why my mother named me after Silvana Mangano-I love to dance, and I must say I have her same moves-riposa in pace Silvana Mangano----- Silvana Teresa-Canada!!
