Mami is there most probably to show that she developed feelings for Kazuya and she's thinking about him. Mami seeing Kazuya's back is to show that Mami recognize Kazuya even from his back but Mami dismissed it as imagination though she actually saw Kazuya at the center. The problem about Kazuya here preparing for the date with Chizuru is himself he's making things prepared to hide his real self from Chizuru. Have you notice what Kazuya is doing here is similar to Chizuru took crash course on studying fishes for Kazuya? It's the same because Chizuru doesn't want to get another one star rating from the same client same as Kazuya, THEY BOTH WANT TO MAKE GOOD IMPRESSION. But the problem here is how will Chizuru know the real Kazuya if he conceals himself from her out of fear of rejection? Reiji is cooking character assassination here to make his characters act away from the what kind of character we know them. Kazuya forcing himself to be a stud is act of insecurity because to him Chizuru deserves to be with a stud aka F*ckboy Nakano. Kazuya still has no clue on what Chizuru feels about him, Ruka is still attached to him and all the sh*t Mami hide from him since the they had relationship.
