Rosie´s character is normally silly and funny but when she sings the line "´cause he always used to look at me that way" you can see the betrayal, pain and heartbreak in her eyes and even though it lasts not even a second it is one of the parts in the movie that makes my heart ache the most
It's my firm belief that Julie Walters is the finest actor working today, maybe ever. She is able to get such nuance into her characters, just like this moment you picked out. She's hilarious but she can play tragedy just as well.
omg. Same... that part kills me a little everytime I repeat watching this... The look in her eyes on that part was just painful ... I really feel that pain
Everyone talking about Lily James in this movie (obviously, she’s stunning) but Amanda Seyfried is absolutely stunning also, and her voice is so beautiful! She’s just a natural beauty!
It's like watching a graceful swan (Christine), a chicken (Julie), and the confused/heartbroken little duckling (Amanda). Love Amanda's voice, it's like milk and honey!
Did anyone else notice that when they showed the young rosie she said that when her heart was broken or when she was upset she would eat cake anf through out this song she eats cake
Honestly this is THE MOST underrated song by ABBA. I've been listening to them for as long as I can remember thanks to my grandparents and I'm now 18, there's not a year I can remember where I have not listened to them, and Angeleyes used to make of every single crush I ever had, whether it be irl or animated or from a kids show... :'D edit: how did I get 150+ likes? Give it all for the ABBA appreciation
Hiroikku I didn’t actually know this song existed until I watched this; the only ABBA CD we had at home was ABBA Gold, which didn’t include a lot of the songs in this film.
This scene is probably my favorite in the movie. The acting by all three is so good, it’s funny it’s charming and they sound amazing. Every time you watch you find something new and entertaining about it. Definitely the most underrated song in this movie.
Christine’s dance numbers in the original Mamma Mia were epic. She tore up the beach in Does Your Mother Know. In the States, however, she’s more well-known as a dramatic actress, and a comedy actress too, on television.
Can Christine Baranski and Julie Walters please just become a comedy duo?! Victoria is gone (rest in peace, my love), Julie needs a new partner, and this pairing could win over both sides of the Atlantic!
My mum used to listen to ABBA when I was a child, and since I'm italian I just found this song very nice and happy. But then I learned English and BOOM! I suddenly understood the words! It has been like a little trauma, 'cause it sound so nice! But know I love it even more!
Love how both Rosie and Tanya were both really motherly with Sophie...like how they listened to her problems and tried to help her with advice and such
I believe they actually used Christine and Julie's live vocals for the first part of the song (what they sang during filming as opposed to what they recorded in the studio), the studio version is great but the live vocals flows more like dialogue
I like how when Tanya and Rosie sing they play the real ABBA song in the background but when Sophie sings they let her solo. Amanda Seyfried has a great voice.
I see my mom and her friend in Tanya and Rosie every single time 😂 They’ve known each other since they were kids, and this sounds EXACTLY like one of their phone conversations.
I can't believe I've just found out that Julie also portraited Ron's mother, Molly Weasley in Harry Potter. What a talented woman. She's now become my favorite actress of all times
Tanya and Rosie in this scene is kinda funny every time Rosie tries to sing and Tanya interrupts her Rosie’s face is priceless like “Tanya!”, “Ok Tanya wtf?” And “Tanya! I’m not telling you again this is my song” 😂😂
Feel sorry for Harry’s boyfriend being pushed by Tanya, kissed by Rosie and having no idea what’s going on. Also, Julie Walters and Christine Baranski need to do more musicals together!
Emily Andrews He comes out at the end of the first film, I don’t know what version you watched but he tells Donna she’s the last girl he ever loved because he’s gay.
@@EditorOfSL, I watched the first Mamma Mia a couple times and I saw Mamma Mia 2 in theaters and I was confused by Harry being gay. It's weird though, because I remember a scene in the first Mamma Mia movie where Sophie reads a portion of Donna's romantic past in her diary and it described Harry being "sweet, understanding, and..." I, also, remember watching I scene in Mamma Mia 2 where Donna hit it off with Harry and had some sort of one night stand.
Jayson Enciso It’s amazing how the managed to change the key for her to sing comfortably and then went back to the original key without anyone noticing.
I can't believe I just watch Mamma mia 1 and 2... honestly!!! 🤦 and I love how everytime Amanda sings her part you can tell... her voice is just 👌🏻🔥 I can't even explain how I feel about it!!! it's just so perfect! ❤️ I need more musicals with her.
50+ and still got it. The dynamos are so amazing when u think about Meryl Streep being 68 and still the dancing queen. They're all so amazing to have this energy. The dynamos will never die in our hearts 💖💖💖
The whole scene is brilliant. The interplay between Julie and Christine is funny with beautiful comic timing, and then the sofa scene when Amanda starts to sing in a beautiful voice and obviously with meaning, it goes slightly serious. Then back to comedy drama with the dance scene. The whole thing is a joy.
I have seen the play 10 times in every city and it never fails to make me happy. The movies are filled with GREAT MUSIC. They both amaze me. The whole cast in spectacular. Thank you to ABBA for making this great music, and sharing it with the world.
