Mamono Hunter Youko: Dai 7 no Keishou [魔物ハンター妖子 第７の警鐘] Game Sample - Genesis/MD

A MD game I picked up not too long ago along with some other titles, Mamono Hunter Youko is basically a lot like "Sword"... except a lot cuter... and with fights that are similar to rock-paper-scissors to intercept additional moves... and with cats... lots and lots of cats that have different proficiency with vertical/horizontal and diagonal moves... Based on the 1991 anime series Mamono Hunter Youko did I mention it has cats and that it's cute?
It was published by Masaya and developed by the group known as Youko, a little-known developer who made a few other games such as the Platformer gem "Mamono Hunter Youko: Dai 7 no Keishou" (published by KLON) and Granhistoria before quietly disappearing around 1991. One of the major heads of Masaya lead KLON. While they primarily made Genesis/MD games, their last involvement in video games was with Dragon Force on the Sega Saturn, which they had to pass development over due to bankruptcy and abandonment of the project (it's sort of a miracle that development on Dragon Force continued). J-Force was founded in 1990 but didn't do much until several years later. Asameshimae Masaya was one of their first games.
In the game, you play a Youko game and get to choose a number of stages to play on, the type of cat you want to use, and you can change the rules and settings to an extent. It's red versus blue, with a random player going first. As you would in Youko, sandwich cats vertically, horizontally or diagonally (though since the game is isometric, it's hard to say vertically or horizontally). You'll change all the cats inbetween to your color, but can additionally select cats in the area to do battle with. winning allows you to further convert cats your to cause. There are special items which have certain effects such as making you lose a turn, but, there isn't much interruption from them.
