THE MEANING BEHIND THE SONG "MAMUMUO"
Mamumuo is a Cebuano term for the word "workers," meaning someone who works with their hands or is engaged in manual labor. Basically, the song was inspired to give honor to all the Mamumuo whom we all trusted in our day-to-day lives, "ang atong mga gisaligan sa pamilya ug sa dakbayan," not just in Barangay Tabunok but to all the Mamumuo around the world.
The 1st Mamumuo Festival in Barangay Tabunok can be considered a religious-based festival in honor of their patron saint, St. Joseph, the Worker. The festival is held on the first day of May, also considered a national holiday commonly known as Labor Day.
The message of the song gives emphasis to all Mamumuo in small businesses: vendors, traders, drivers, teachers, enforcers, etc. It is a song of celebration that will remind the workers that they are the real gifts in their family, considering their strengths and dedication to work, as their gem to continue living for their family. As mentioned, "MAMUMUO, MAMUMUO, GASA GIKAN SA ATONG GINOO", "TABUNOK NGA MADASIGUN MAMUMUO ATONG DAYGON,"
As the composer of the song Mamumuo, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Tabunok Barangay Captain, Hon. Benjie A. Cabigas for making me part of this historical event in your barangay. Thank you for trusting my skills and making the song successful. To Sir Joseph Louis D. Tormis C-ploy Dedicatoria Tormis, thank you for trusting my talent and helping us in the making. This is truly a legacy that I can call.
To Sir Chingkoy Alegado, thank you sir for arranging the song with beautiful accompaniment. You made it more interesting. 🙇
To Ma'am Rhea G. Resuento, Elezabith B. Bolo, and Jeremy Simon Bajarias, the song is now heard because of your support. Thank you for giving life to the song. You're the best, guys.
THANK YOU AND HAPPY FIESTA!!! VIVA, VIVA, SEÑOR SAN JOSE!
