Technically legally she can't do that because his name is on the birth certificate. Once you sign they are your responsibility. One reason why when someone isn't sure if the child/children is theirs or not don't sign it because the child support agencies won't even DNA test you and it could take ALOT of money to get your named removed since you already sign and took responsibility at birth.

@blkrfleb9718 Sadly not all stepfathers or stepmothers care about their wife's or husband's kids from a previous marriage. (I know having been the step child to a stepfather who felt I was "in the way" and made that known to me from a young age.) This was after he adopted me even, most likely because my mother wanted him to. So I applaud the steps who are good parents in spite of the kids not being theirs biologically. I was treated like an outcast many times by him when I was a young child, although as I got older his behavior towards me did get better, but the emotional damage of not being loved or cared about by him had already been done to me when I was little.
