Let's be 100% honest. He wasn't arrested because the officer thought it was a gun, he was arrested because the officer felt embarrassed and got her feelings hurt.
The news teams did a horrible job of explaining what happened. This man was basically attacked by these cops for the crime of not giving his name. He showed the lady cop that it wasn't a weapon and went to move on and she refused. Then he asked to speak with a sergeant and that idiot comes out and says let's take him. And then they gloat when they take out his license. Both cops need to be fired and the dept needs to pay big time so that this never happens again.
She clearly knew it wasn't a gun. When he quickly reached for his cane, she didn't even flinch. I suspect that there is some history between Hodges and the sheriff's department, and they decided to give him a hard time that day.
@@Kededianquite literally he asked “are you a tyrant” and she responded with ”yes I am” then demanded to see his ID, cut him off and said “do you wanna go in handcuffs right now” . The fact that she still has a job in the police department just proves they’re the biggest gang of bullies and extortionists.
Those are the humans that long for the jobs. They lay in their lonely beds at night with their hands below their belts crying for revenge on those who don't love them 😢
When the Sheriff decided not to fire those corrupt deputies he lost all credibility. This man spent 26 hours of his life in a jail cell for the crime of being legally blind. The people of Columbia County need a new sheriff.
He will eventually have to fire them because they cannot be effective officers and the town that they're in they are infamous. And every arrest they make will be challenged from here on out. Every court appearance where these officers will need to testify the fact that she confessed to being a tyrant will be brought up.
It's on tape. He asked, "are you a tyrant?" She said, "yes, actually, I am." I. Her own words, she admitted that it was an unlawful confrontation and arrest.
I hate to say this but some time if you say sorry, that’s mean you admitted that something were wrong and that can give the opposing party reason to file a pricey action lawsuit.
@@aviationnine-tailedfox2216Not if they apologize and walk away before insulting, causing harm or just being an entitled little bitch. No harm done, no threats, no arrests. Edit: My apologizes, I'm assuming everyone in that situation is an intelligent adult.
Sad part is that if they'd get down from their stupid power trips and apologize, people would actually respect them instead of seeing them purely as monsters.
The simple fact that she didn’t flinch at all when he pulled it out his pocket shows she never actually thought it was a weapon. She is just high on power
we consider why people want to “defund” the cops. It’s cause many have no common sense in situations like this, and also retaliate against anyone who don’t comply when there is no requirement to do so.
@@nixel5695 Not many cops are out of line like these 2. Most are good people. No reasonable person wants to defund the police, only progressive liberals want that.
Oh please, there is no way that cop thought that thing sticking out of his back pocket was a gun. She didn't act like it. She was being, as she admitted, a tyrant.
she should be arrested and given life sentence. misuse of JUSTICE is a crime against humanity and god, a crime far worse than anything any child grapist or Hitler did. she deserves the chair.
In the video as soon as he mentions that he's gonna report them, the one other deputy just says 'take him to jail for resisting arrest.' It's disgusting how they immediately and without hesitation abuse their power.
Disgusting but not surprising in the slightest. Police as a whole may be good and trying to do their job but police like these two, and especially more commonly in the united states, police abuse their power and have zero fear for even the concept of repercussions because even when they are obviously in the wrong they know that a corrupt system will still protect them.
Yeah, that supervisor must be penalized for gross abuse of power. Reasoning or arguing against an unlawful order of a police officer is not a ground for resisting arrest. Being arrested for such, is a clear violation of the freedom of speech.
we are >this< close to the level of "Pick up that can citizen, or I'll beat you senseless". Give it another few years, and we will be at "I AM the law!" levels...
The problem is finding people with the COURAGE to take on the career as police officer believing they are going to be stereo-typed as someone to be avoided on a personal level.
The woman feminist captain marvel cop got offended by being called a tyrant lol and the beta male simp Sargent allowed the blue haired obese woman to arrest the law abiding citizen. What a disgusting time to be living in.
Police are out of control everywhere, just like Mexico they stop you and you have to give them money on the spot otherwise you're arrested. But here in America cops have the biggest egos out of them all
What do you expect when they have a situation which they call 'being on the board' when they kill someone in the line of duty. A different organisation calls it 'making their bones'.

@@BadPennyDogBoy Good point. You're right, of course. I'm watching everything crumble here in the U.S. The government is no longer hiding its intentions. The tyranny here is becoming shocking.

That weapon he was carrying was not taken away from him until he was being placed in the back seat. Must have been a deadly weapon. Clearly the officer just wanted to punish him for not doing what she told him.
If I understand the American judicial system correctly, that simple admission (...which, I'll bet, she thought was snappy and quirky...) will cost her dearly in court.

First off, the POS cop lied about the incident. Also, her supervisor is the one who arrested this man. They both should face charges: Deprivation of rights under color of law.
"what are you a tyrant?" "yea I am actually." What a condescending and unprofessional answer. She must have forgotten about her de escalating training. But they want us to make sure we have respect for their authority. 🙄
The fact Deputy Gohde lied on her arrest report and her Sergeant signed it should be reason enough for them both being fired and prosecuted. There can’t be no excuse ever for such behaviour to go unpunished. She stated she didn’t find out it was a walking stick until “after” the arrest was made.
News flash they all lie to score a quick bust. I got chased and cornered in a road rage incident and drew a firearm cause I had a car pointed at me. The crazy bitch who chased me did so with a 1 year old in her car ( which I didn’t know about). For this I was arrested, the police lied about me making a statement ( a right I was denied). I got booked and had to post 2500 bond to get out of jail. Then I spent the next 3 months with the sword of Damocles over my head. They hit me for 2 years probation and took my permit and my gun. I accepted the ARD offer cause I didn’t have the money to take it to trial. Slow I ended up with 2 years probation cause I was chased down. May the crazy bitch chase the wrong person one day and may the cops try to arrest someone with enough money to destroy them one day. This is what happens when you let bullies and losers be cops, this is why qualified immunity needs to end, so citizens can sue police when they screw up
The sad reality is that lying is an integral part of policing these days. Cops were allowed to lie during interrogations, and that led to them feeling allowed to lie in ALL aspects of doing their job. How much criminality and abuse of citizens' civil rights must occur before real action is taken to REFORM police departments in the USA? When will fascist Republicans get out of the way and allow this reform to occur? Higher standards & vetting of police candidates. Higher pay. Better training and police education. Impose real accountability for unethical and criminal behavior by police. Lawsuit payouts taken from police pension funds, not from taxpayers' pockets. Police will start "policing" each other vs covering up for each other's bad behavior. Neutralize police "unions" aka criminal KKK syndicate protecting criminal cops. Have police forces represent their communities with a diverse force. Hold regular community - police meetings where concerns can be discussed and they can feel like they are on the same team instead of opposing forces. Help good, honest, brave police officers do their job without pressure to uphold the"thin blue line" of corruption. Restore dignity and respect to the profession. These are not unattainable goals. They aren't that difficult! Blindly paying out lawsuits with taxpayer $$, relocating bad cops and wiping cops disciplinary records after 5 years is just a replica of how the Catholic Church has handled its pedophile priests.
Come on, she was throwing his statement back at him. If she'd said "yes, I am Satan", you wouldn't be thinking holy cow, this is satan, see he admits it!
Well don't worry about it they'll investigate themselves find out they did absolutely nothing wrong and she'll get a one-day paid suspension. And be back on the job to be a tyrant to be someone else.
I am glad to hear he is doing this. They all 100% knew it wasn't a gun, that he was coming from jury duty & they arrested him illegally anyway - because he embarrassed them. That is tyrannical - and the woman cop even admits to him that she is.
Her "investigation" ended the moment she walked up and saw that it was a cane. At that point, there was no need to bother the man for his ID, let alone arrest him. This lady had it out for this guy because he dared to talk to her without absolute fear, or reverence.
No, the cop did *NOT* think it was a gun. The cop just wanted to find the slightest meaningless excuse to arrest the man, because those fvck!ng police have to make their *QUOTA* of arrests, fines, tickets, citations, etc. What idiot invented that system? A cop with any integrity would not use such a stupid excuse. IN FACT, a person with any integrity would leave the police force after a short time, having seen what they are expected to do.
No, her investigation ended the moment she walked up and saw that he wasn't pointing it at anyone. I don't care if it was a .950 anti-tank rifle or an RPG, he's legally allowed to carry it, period.
@Alusky Stop and ID under reasonable suspicion. The moment they found it was a cane instead of a gun that suspicion was GONE. Notice they asked for ID after the fact.
@@johnhmielewski1230 In short tells me he's asshole and something of a tyrant himself. Long answer: She opened contact by saying "Hey there" "What's this in you back pocket?" His response is "It's a navigational aid, what's the problem, are you a tyrant?". (Navigational aid, I didn't know a channel marker buoy can fit in a back pocket....oh a folding cane, well why not just say that to be clearly informative) Someone whose not an asshole but an adult would reply that it's a 'folding cane' and not add major attitude with the "are you a tyrant" question that points the cop and interaction in a direction of ego conflict. Now the man-baby is suing because these cops were provoked and didn't coddle his attitude on the street, but I hope the people in his county won't have to pay any money to him. He could have acted and spoken like an adult, other things he could have said to end the encounter differently and maybe even helped her improve as a cop. A person different than him might have interacted and asked "are you an officer who would like to foster better relations with the public?" and she might say "yes, I am" to that as well. I'm not that good, but I know people who are. We're living in a world of increasing social conflict. He wasn't just an innocent victim , he co-created what went down, got himself arrested. Those cops should apologize, admit their wrong, be sufficiently punished and be put on probation, fired if they don't immediately improve. Him, I don't support the man-baby, I think doing so is a mistake, not good for society, to support or defend either side in these ego conflicts, we'll just have more of it, rather both sides should be held accountable to behave better. He should not be praised or rewarded.
@@Elephant_King_Gj all that is STILL not a reason to arrest him and now her pride just caused the department to get sued and possibly lose her and a few other officers. It’s interesting that she claimed she thought he was carrying a gun but didn’t relieve him of his “weapon” right away as any reasonable PO would do, but instead waited until he was getting into her vehicle and realized that he wasn’t going to be able to sit down with it still attached to him.
The scary thing is that before cops were forced to wear bodycams recording their words and actions, things like this happened and happened a lot, but the victims could never prove it. And when these cops were harassing and arresting Mr. Hodges, they KNEW it was being recorded, but they did it anyway.
Probably figured their department would help them cover up their mistake by conveniently losing the video. Or secure the video, requiring an NDA to view it, like they did with the Uvalde shooting video.

The officer knew it wasn't a weapon within the first 10 seconds of that encounter. Yet her ego was so enlarged by a badge that she couldn't admit she was wrong and, with humility, move on with her day.
She knew it wasn't a weapon before the encounter. The whole thing is because of her ego. Modern beat cops aren't real law enforcement, they're hall monitors. Weak losers with shiny badges that say they get to bully you because they have guns and legal backing.

@Aluzky Wrong, in Florida he doesn't have to give an ID unless there's a lawful reason to ask for it. Which there wasn't. Regardless, he already gave them what they wanted and they already verified he wasn't a danger. They were letting him go until he asked for badge numbers. Everything about that arrest was wrong.
This deputy should be fired. This guy explained it was a walking aid and NOT a firearm of any kind, SHOWED IT TO HER, and the deputy still tried to make the stop more than it was.
