I personally would have been so embarrassed having put her through all of that BS for nothing; I would have apologized to her right there and then and ask for her forgiveness.

I just think he was too old to be starting out as a military spouse. there is a huge adjustment to make, and things are just harder period as you get older. if he was younger, he may have been more likely to bond, socialize and party with the people in his complex, where he could've found his own camaraderie and support system in her absence.

There is a huge reason why they call it serving and you raise your right hand to affirm this is something you want to do because it changes you and it leaves you many times emotionless. Depending on how supportive or unsupportive your family and people around you are as well as your upbringing.
