Once in a while I just stare into the camera of my phone for 1 minute then smile and whisper "I know you're watching me" then act like nothing happened
The tons of pages you press "i agree" when you download or use most things were mentioning that some years now. It was there but noone was reading it to know it. Plus it was no secret. We just ignore things until they become problems.
@@gkarak1996 also pointing it out often gets you called crazy or paranoid by people who didn’t read it. Before Snowden blew the top off that stuff it was… very… different. People bought into the idea that if you pointed it out or didn’t just accept it that you were crazy or paranoid.
As an iOS programmer, I can tell you that you might be surprised to know that voice recognition is NOT accomplished inside your phone. When you speak to Siri, your voice goes across the Internet to a server that decodes your speech. Then the decoded result is sent back to your phone. So, what you ask Siri is KNOWN TO THE INTERNET.
The sad truth is that we know that our devices are spying on us, yet we take no action to prevent that from happening. You tell me, are you going to stop using any of the platforms or services mentioned in the video? The answer is no. They made sure that even after knowing all this, we will still continue to use those platforms. IF YOU AREN'T PAYING FOR SOMETHING, THAT MEANS YOU'RE THE PRODUCT!
You can obfuscate any information. What is scarier is the law which would deem it illegal for you to do that. Technology on its own is never bad. It's the state players that use it that makes it worse.
I want somebody to do this test but instead say a bunch of illegal terroristic threats to see if any law enforcement ends up showing at their door. I feel like that would be a pretty good test to see if you are truly being spied on
Unless you meant something else, I think that went over people's heads. (The phone and other tech are all listening devices and we are now worried it might be istening to us...lol)
Person 1: "It can only hear you when it's turned on" Person 2: "How do you turn it on" Person 1: "Use it's wakeup word Alexa (Or Google)" Person 2: Say's Alexa when it's off *Turns on* Me: If it can only hear you when it's on then how does it hear you say "Alexa" when it's off?
I don't know what you are referring to as turned off. If you press the red mute button it can't here you. Otherwise it is always listening but never recording unless the Wake word is spoken. It's not that spooky take your tin foil hat off. Information is only sent back if heard
@@goodman854 just following this type of thoughts... Let's say you press that button to mute the mic... Ok now... U trust the red light they put in their product so you think it's... Muted ? More like a " We don't hear you... Trust us"
My boyfriend and I were playing with our dogs and I play yelled “no stop it” because my dogs were kissing attacking us and our google home out of no where said “I hope everything is okay” We ended up unplugging it
This reminds me of an article I read, talking about the tracking of our phones. Companies assure us that it is completely anonymous and only for data, but the researchers behind the article were able to find out a person's home address, work address, marital status, kid's school, and so much more simply by isolating their tracking signal.
I have to disagree. Myself and several of my friends have proved conclusively that smart devices are eavesdropping at all times. I have no social media accounts at all, and have all mics and cameras switched off or covered with tape, yet I still get very targeted advertising within a few hours of random conversations related to the subjects not normally discussed. I learned long, long ago that if you can imagine it (in terms of electronic surveillance), someone is doing it!
Data mining is more sophisticated than just social media accounts. When you physically cover mics with tape how can it listen to your conversation, lol. There is so much other data they collect from your phone, data collected from phone of others in your demographic, data collected from your friends, data collected from social media of other people that you know, your location, data collected from others in your location, things others in your location lookup, things you looked up in your phone and computer that it seems as though they listened to your conversation.
I remember one time my parents were talking about taking my dog to the vet, obviously meaning we would have to leave the house. At that very moment my Alexa had a green ring around it. That only happened when we were talking about leaving or anything personal. We unplugged it immediately, and I was a little disappointed Bc we got it for my birthday last year, but I was more concerned about me and my family’s safety
If you're really concerned about spying, consider more, like laptops, cell phones, desktop computers, smart TVs, cars with cameras, cameras of all kinds and there's more, but that's the basics.
anything you share on the internet is essentially equivalent to shouting something in public without thoroughly checking if anyone is around and should be treated as such
Imagine going to the bathroom talking to yourself and your family members heard you and now your family is thinking that you're an absolute knucklehead.
“Hey Google” was not used nor anything remotely close, yet as we were discussing a private conversation, we saw the lights turn on. We unplugged it and have not turned it on. But, IPADS and IPhones also seem to be “capturing” conversations and a day later, I see targeted advertisements based on conversations. What they don’t understand is that this makes me angry, so that I refuse to buy what they are selling and make notes to avoid certain products.
Me too. That makes me so mad. All they want is our money. Don't they have enough already? Seriously - how much money does one billionaire need??? I would never buy Alexa and I put tape over my computer camera and microphone. I cover my phone with a washrag when I'm not using it. The phone is a little trickier to prevent spying.
@Veronica Wo Apple was actually the first to take bribes from Google and ever computer besides Amazon brand has long been corrupted but worse yet the whole internet is based on Google software so it literally impossible to have non Google web media elts you will get an error message.
Feel like I should through this out there. Amazon employees will unplug their alexas and go into another room when they want to have a conversation. If that doesn't say something about security, or lack there of, I don't know what does.
Depends on what you mean with noods, it might send you a vampire to entertain yourself for a night, since biblical times they had this goddes that did that. Be carefull what you wish for.
eh... I couldn't care less if they are listening in on me, I'm not doing anything special. I'll start asking Google and Alexa (and more) to say hi to the person behind the computer for me. who knows we might become friends.
I would have said, “With what money, Alexa? You don’t have any money! If you do, you better start paying rent! How were you going to buy my shoes? You can’t walk or drive or type.”
NordLocker like any VPN doesn’t do much: every system and almost every app encrypts your files and if NordLocker is making your files visible only to you it means they have to see them first and then they’re viewing your files, VPNs aren’t that great as everyone make them look.
@@enriquenabetse VPNs aren't stopping who can look at your data, they're just adding themselves to the list. Why do you think they're trying so hard and paying so many sponsorships to get you to use them?
Unpopular opinion: as long as this information is being used for marketing or training the voice algorithm or something like that, I’m fine with that. My only problem is if they sell my info to the dark web or something like that which does happen.
If my Alexa starts recording and sending my conversations I can not be held responsible for the emotional scars and deep set trauma inflicted on those who make the mistake of listening. I am a talker and dedicate a good bit of time to my intimate life...but it would be incredibly funny if it did happen
Why give a billionaire you don't know the sort of access you wouldn't give your own relatives? What is the reasoning behind the unusual trust you place in wealth and power when in fact the entire "free tech" industry got that power by collecting and selling user data without publicising the fact?
I have a happy life without any “home assistants, social media & only my apple spy phone to listen to all my riveting conversations I have with myself.
@R K That's just it they don't. I spent years myself never wondering why search engines were free, we all paid for internet and thought that was part of the deal somehow. But it turns out everyone that could spy on us always has been.
I keep my guard up but I'm not excessive about it. Disable certain permissions, communicate through safe apps, don't use assistants, etc. It's enough to give me peace of mind. Any more and I'll be leaning into paranoia. Gotta accept that at some point we are being listened to. This is the digital era.
@@claressamills2110 he disabled the mic, so it shouldn't be listeningso if it actually disabled the mic it wouldn't suggest that you turn it back on when you say "ok google"

Having my computer "accidentally" hear a conversation and give me search options based on it is one thing, but what's really weird is when you don't even mention the thing out loud, and it STILL knows what you want after typing two letters.
Because we're predictable. Google knows what we love more than we do ourselves. That's how the search bar works. That's how you watch videos on many platforms. That's why it's hard to stop scrolling Shorts/TikTok/Reels, because it's fun to us. All the videos are the things we like.
Once Target started sending offers of baby-related products to a customer, because they correctly figured out she was pregnant before she had told her own father. They figured it out based only on her purchase history
The Nichols thing works. Me and gf wanted to test if our phones were listening. So we started talking about stuff we'd never be interested in. Next morning I get a advertisement for those exact things. I've never googled them or mentioned them before. The phones are 100% listening.
What's really freaky is multiple organizations have actively sought the link and can find nothing. Almost like there is a really deep subconscious AI building.

Honestly, Alexa is the most pointless thing to ever buy, because for 1. You are spied on 2. It's hacked alot now 3. Everything it does, you can just do yourself instead 4. You waste money 5. If it's connected to your house and it is hacked, your house is now hacked too.

Everything that is digital collects data. To further innovate things and refine processes for the ai. Vpn sells your data to such ai companies , because that's the whole thing with ai. You need alot of sample sets to refine it.
My family had an Alexa once. Out of nowhere, it said my dads full legal name even though nobody had even said my dads first and last name in the same sentence. The Alexa was promptly smashed to bits.
1984 written in 1948 predicted this world with chilling accuracy. Back then the commercial black and white TV had only been on the market about 7 years on the United States, most people still just had the radio in home and I think there were only like 2 stations and things were not aired at all times. But in the book, there are "Telescreens" in every apartment, in the subways, pubs/bars, airports..... everywhere. These telescreens had an ability that the black/white television screens of 1948 did not have... the ability to listen to and watch YOU.
or the fact edward snowden released info saying they were literally spying on every american, calls texts etc. no outrage over that though. if you think your phones arent spying on you, might wanna rethink that

Once I was talking to my dad with my airpods in, telling him how my assistant(trying not to activate siri) listens to me. Siri replied to me, and said (my name) I respect your privacy, and would do not such thing.
There's no doubt, yes we are being spied upon. Any device with a microphone can definitely listen to your conversations, not saying they are but they can if they choose to. You generally give them permission when you agree to their policies.
