On July 5, 2024, police were called to a disturbance at a news company in Eau Claire, WI. An individual had shown up uninvited, hoping to discuss his story with the media in the hopes they would report on it. When informed that the news organization would not pursue his story, he grew increasingly upset. Officers attempted to explain how his behavior was problematic, but the man continued to interrupt them and grew more agitated. He soon walked away despite being instructed that he was not free to leave, leading to his arrest.

I mean, the dude was verbally abusive from start to finish. That makes him a bad guy. @okcommut3r Unfortunately people in his mindset, especially when agitated and emotionally invested like he was, usually won't leave people alone without being removed. I also wish there was some way to have him removed without putting him in contact with the police/prison system but I don't see how it could've been done once he began harassing people and justifying it as civil rights work. If you were in his shoes and genuinely believed you were doing something right, wouldn't it be very difficult to simply convince you to go away? As always the best way to prevent situations like this is to intervene early and often with actually effective assistance - namely housing - to the unhoused. Having a bed and a roof over you does wonders for mental health, it turns out.

Being homeless isn't a job, I think what he means is that getting help, getting the proper treatment, not giving in to all the negative triggers is a big job for many people who are dealing with mental issues and/or drug issues. There's also many who don't want the help that is being provided or available, you can't do nothing about that unfortunately.

We all want these folks to suceed but there is a difference between feeding people fish- and teaching them to fish for themselves. You cant throw money at it. We tried that. This officer did a great job of exploring it.

He actually had some really solid entry level solutions and was spot on about day shelters too. Definitely not in a great state of mind but he's clearly passionate and has worked towards finding solutions to a big problem. He was clearly a narcissist though, holding him back from being the effective messenger he thinks he is. He gives himself every benefit of the doubt to be angry, maybe rightfully so. But the second the cop can't verbally frame the problems correctly, Seth goes wild and won't let up. He needs to afford his fellow citizens the same grace he gives himself
