It's really not about the size of the space, but how that space makes you feel. We want more space, because we tend to accumulate things, and instead of saying, hey, do I really need this, we just keep it. This journey to think differently, didn't start with my van conversion, but it has definitely speed up the process. I aren't halfway done with my conversion, but during the "wait" I implement the lifestyle into my daily life. Making my own separation toilet from scratch, and leftovers I had in the house. Boiling water and washing myself with just water in a bowl. Planning, with the thought on how I actually use the space in my house. (there's a lot of time spent on the couch watching youtube and such) It's all about being aware of your own mind, and how much you don't actually use on a daily basis.

The other is dedicated right now to running my air conditioner off a set of 280 ah cells. It's an install in progress. I saved enough not buying fuel for my old stove that the induction unit paid for itself the first year. Also safer than open flame. That's why I ditched my old propane heater for a forced air Chinese diesel heater and to make refill more ubiquitous and simple.

One thing I really appreciate with your channel is your consistency & authenticity in mindful and intentional living. This one quality of knowing yourself intimately and being true to self is so key to enjoying the nomadic life fully. Another quality that helps is adaptability; the ability to flow with the circumstances. You embody all these qualities and more. I love how you have your van set up and I must admit I stole a couple ideas to use in my 2019 GMC Savana 2500 cargo van. I have a Coleman cot affixed to the driver side wall. The only thing I have to in the morning is shove my sleeping bag against the wall for me to use cot as a day couch. I set up a one burner stove next to the sliding door like you did and will install a sink like yours. Food, cook and dining sets are in bins under the cot. Outdoor furniture (collapsible), shoe rack and heater hang from a clothes bar towards back with laundry basket and plastic chest of four drawers that face the rear barn doors. The chest of drawers store emergency gear and winter clothing plus a trauma kit. I'm a retired Air Force paramedic, survival and CPR instructor. I like being prepared. My everyday clothes are stored in organized clothes bags hanging fom the rear ceiling in a cargo net. Two Jackery units hang on a clothes bar mounted behind the front seats and never go below 95% power; power cord runs from the dashboard to the clothes bar and can be switched to either Jackery. They power my lights, fans, tablet, cell phone without solar. A friend and I built a roof rack to carry a JEGS cargo box for snow chains a power saw, fuel/oil, and bundles of firewood. Mounted on the sides of the rack are solar lights with motion detectors.. A large furry visitor surprised me one night as I stepped out to get some fresh air and gave me the motivation to mount the lights. Your videos provide much useful information to help us new nomads. Thanks, Scott!

I couldn't help but admire and have a great amount of respect for you. You are satisfied with being who you are, that that speaks volumes. People like you show that the basic necessities are all we need in life. There are so many well-to-do people that are MISERABLE; and often take their own life as a result of never having enough; or arriving at the top with nowhere else to go. If America had more men like you--learning to be content with what you have--there would be a lot less problems. This is a lesson that l still strive to learn; finding the blessings in life.

This is just a very down to earth build, cheaper than a big van, and very practical for someone who wants to live outside most of the time. Congratulations on your 6 years, my god that's a long time to be traveling or living out of a van. One suggestion I think you might appreciate, it Is to purchase an A6 Razor push scooter. One with the 8 inch wheels, it's truly the best investment I've ever made for the money. And it's so small it folds up so tiny; it's great to have on the road when I want to get away from my car. I'm more of a bicycle tourist, but I enjoy watching the van life videos.

I’m still figuring out where in the jigsaw puzzle my inflatable boat and attendant paraphernalia will fit most optimally. Other requirements are a comfortable bed (I also favor an always set up bed), water storage, and, of course, coffee-ability.

Hi Scott, thanks for sharing your space. For me, your attitude and character shines thru even for those living in homes. Love your vids. And take care out there, wherever you are. Cheers, Malaysia.
