"ON A FARRRM!!!!!" ... The Outrage in Zods voice is magnificent!! He's a better actor that Cavel... But there's a huge downside to playing a the bad guy early in an acting career. Especially in such a high profile film. Typically the Villain/bad guy/girl doesn't do as well progressing as an actor... It's too bad really. Because in this script. Zod is actually a good guy. He never lies... not even about his relation with Kal's father and how he would do it again if he had to. Zod is on a mission to resurrect Krypton and save his people. The best Bad guys aren't Villain.. They are Opponents with logical but opposing agendas... Zod and crew is what made this film Great ... VS a generic Villain... Cavill In Mission impossible.... you know he's actually a SHIT Actor...
But that means you better hope someone has enough money to pay for all your contracting services. LexCorp, after all, had to have contracted a lot of architects and construction crews just to rebuild Metropolis.
That’s why the fights in ‘The Boys’ are a bit of a let down. The fights between Homelander, butcher, and soldier boy should have done way more damage, and they barely damaged the wooden room they were in.
@@jackvearncombe9892 That's because they're nowhere near superman/zods level of strength. Hell Homelander isn't even near Omnimans level of strength and he's a considerably watered down version of superman. The Boy's fights are grounded to their reality, if you're expecting fights like this in the Boys you're watching the wrong thing.
@@TheFunnyGuy9000 this is realistic there are god like beings fighting here. How does a being as powerful as homelander not immediately punch a hole through wall
Superman was told by his earth dad to hide his powers all his life. He only ever really explored his abilities after seeing the hologram of his space dad. There he basically learned flight in one scene too. But mastering other senses in a day and half like zod did was still impressive.
@@jacobjester4761 Yeah but no. He was genetically engineered to be a protector of krypton. Supes is just a guy, from krypton. Zod doesn't exaggerates, or lies about himself, and he calls himself a warrior, master of all of his senses. It's demonstrated in the scene where his group get frozen, they all twist in pain and agony while he stays stoic. That's probably why he can do all this faster than the rest.
In that alternate Universe, they let Christopher Nolan direct their vision of the DCEU's hopes and dreams. They never peaked in that Universe becuase every movie surpassed its predecessor.
I will never stop saying that Zod is one of the most underrated villains of all time and this portrayal was one of the most underrated villains in cinematic history.
@@australian2425 it would be boring to see that... Zod only gained Superpowers during his visit on Earth bec. Of the yellow sun... Zod past story is him being a normal soldier general without Godlike powers due to their environment with an Orange Sun... Theres a tv series about Krypton's Early days... and it's boring as hell...
@@nightking4132 Yeah, Zod served his purpose of being the villain of MoS to perfection. Anymore of him would have been overdone, such as his appearance in The Flash.
I like how the sign behind Kal goes from 106 days without accidents to 0 days without accidents when Kal hits the sign at 3:21. Very minor and humorous detail by directors lol
There's not much like this to be found outside of Snyder movies. It really captured the power of super beings like non other. Marvel some great cool moments too but too often ruined by dumb jokes or lame Disney-fication
I liked the choreography and the effects but thematically, it just feels like Supe is being uncharacteristically irresponsible. Didn't try to get Zod away from the city even once and even breaks a whole lot of shit himself.
@@CheekiTikiExcept that compared to most insanely destructive fights, it’s litteraly intended because it’s the major plot point of the next movie (also the guy is enraged. If superman leaves the city in hope that he’ll follow him, he’ll probably grab his cape right back or either start killing civilians so that it comes back)
This is in my opinion the best comic book movie moment ever. Michael Shannon put his all into that scene. You felt his pain when he delivered those lines.
And that's doubly amazing because he's the *villain*. If you can get the audience to feel empathy for the bad guy without defending his actions then you've done something miraculous.
I know you said this a year ago, but they are one and the same, remember Zod had the means to create new Kryptonians, and on earth, a new Krypton. That was why he was doing what he was doing.
@@sangbartamaity7203 Zod pretty much shows how Superman would be if he was evil, since he’s of the same race as Kal-El and has the same powers as him under a yellow sun.
ZOD was actually the main character... he has the longest timeline... His script and delivery of it put him at about the top 3 maybe 5 characters in the last 10 years (hero or not). MCU put out a total pussy version of Thanos and he was their top opponent... good acting but weak script (Thanos)... Zod's explanation of his position in the beginning of this cut is the reason I even made this cut...
@@_Anonymous1 so explain Winter soldier, Daredevil 2003, Daredevil TV show, Hawkeye, Wesley Snipes Blade, Black Widow I’m general.. who all use various forms of martial arts.. General Zod Vs Superman takes inspiration from DRAGON BALL Z… Also the Matrix Revolutions… which also took inspiration from DRAGON BALL Z.. This fight is amazing, but ironically it looks like a cartoon lmao.
Shannon was so good as Zod. And I’m just gonna say it, the way Snyder recreated this scene from Bruce Wayne’s perspective for Batman v Superman was brilliant. People always rip him for being all spectacle, but the man knows how to set a scene…
@@raywillian4186 BVS was sabotaged he had even less control over this project then he did on MOS and Christopher Nolan didn't return to write so there you go. Also for the record he doesn't write shit he's just the director and he actually knows what he is doing because without him we wouldn't have gotten the ultimate edition hell without him we wouldn't have gotten Henry Cavill.
He still saved it. A few blocks is not a whole city. Could have been way worse. The whole planet could have been destroyed and thousands of millions dead.
At this point it is like war, its inevitable, especially when to powerful being fighting. Idk what logic people have when they think nothing gonna destroyed or superman can protect the city from being destroyed, while zod already said he will destroy and kill everything .
If u remember watching Superman 2, Zack actually put in all the elements and scenarios from that movie into Man Of Steel, eg - the oil truck, the construction site, the whole fight in the streets and having human casualties making Superman helpless.
You know, sure he destroyed half the city but at least props to Superman for not getting killed in two seconds by a pointy stick like Kara apparently does in every possible universe ever

Faora Beat his ASS... She's faster and She trashed him in the diner in hand to hand. If not for the breather she could have killed him on her own. Then they go tag team in the streets with the big dude. I love the WWF style close line she does on him. And the train engine from the sky. That was a kick ass Sequence. The mortal Army guy was GREAT. The guy that fights Faora down to a knife. He knows he's goin down... but he's goin down like a man... and he get's her in the end. But I don't think she would die... @@RAZR_Channel Yeah in my opinion I believe if they where both rested in the Earth’s Sun or both had equalized states I believe she would have easily murdered Kal.
@@daneyal7162 Yes, but his mission is to protect the planet, here, if he is successful in his mission, he will be the creator of the rebirth of Krypton, which was not what he was born to do anyways (general), so his lengthy explanation about wanting to protect his people, to bring them all back, is all lies because he has become a corrupted, tyrannical and power hungry individual who wants to be more than just a general.
@@KyranSparda His duty is not to destroy a civilization to bring back his planet, his duty was to fight for his planet as a soldier. His planets destruction was not the cause of anyone but themselves, they destroyed themselves, why should humans or superman pay the price? He should just accept the reality and move on.
@@nicholaslee5473 You’re trying to think about this rationally lol. Zod is emotional and completely irrational about the whole thing because of said strong sense of duty being instilled in him since birth.
2:28 - You have to watch it frame by frame to see that there are shockwaves in the air when they punch each other… It's a nice detail I only caught when editing this...
This is what superhuman fight looks like. Not just some dudes swinging on webs or punching shields. This shit right here. Structures destroyed, everything in sight blowing up, people getting rekt left right and center.
As a superhero film, its incredibly well directed and a fantastic film. As a Superman film, it completely misses the point of the character Superman and makes him extremely dull and boring.
@@midwestkrazy83turner50You are welcome to have your opinion. But I'm glad they are moving on from synder. I find most of his films to be snore fests. They always have to be edited with a dark filter and what he considers cool, I consider overly edgy. You may call the old stuff goofy, but I call most of the new stuff cringe.
They say that Superman here is nothing but a destructor... Yeah... Now think about what would happen to, not only a city, but the entire Earth human population, if Zod were succeeded. Well, yes. He truly saved us from a greater danger than just destroying half a city.

And to that I would say, "Have you ever even seen a real fight? How hard it is to stop an ~200 pound human fighting you every step of the way, holding nothing back? Now imagine that ~200 pound human is a near godlike creature, trained as a soldier, holding nothing back. Good luck." Zero collateral damage was never an option here.
I remember when this first came out the biggest complaint was about the destruction and explosions, and it's like you're talking about two aliens who can break the sound barrier by swinging their fists of course there's going to be casualties especially considering this was superman's first run as the man of steel he had never faced something like this before. This is the one time where it felt like the destruction made sense and added to the overall dceu narrative. This movie is my comfort movie and I stand by it when I say it was underrated and this fight scene proves it

Zod’s dialogue have so much depth and empathy, he’s strong in loyalty and leadership as a soldier and in love for his people’s safety and care, even though he tried to execute an evil plot to kill Earth to resurrect Krypton. Behind that he believes his intentions are good, atleast for his people. He’s not a fool he knows what he’s doing is morally wrong, you’ll see a scene after Jor-El debating with Zod and you see how Zod for a moment Zod has that doubt on his face and almost regrets his plot to save Krypton. A small part of him doesn’t want to succeed. “I exist only to protect Krypton, that is the sole purpose for which I was born and every action I take no matter how violent or how cruel it’s for the greater good of my people. And now I have no people…my soul, *THAT IS WHAT YOU HAVE TAKEN FROM ME”* “I was bred to be a warrior,Cal. Trained my entire life, mastered my senses. *Where Did You Train, AT A FARM.”*
I used 3d specs in theatre for man of steel in 2013. Seriously i am impressed his zack snyder movie directions movie design background effort make me impressed. oh whole theatre clapped. I will 100 go times if this will release again
3:42-3:48 I really enjoyed this movie, when I was 16 years old. Also, I liked this version of Zod wears the same costume as Superman, except the letter on his 🛡.
I'm way older than you and I've seen several versions of Zod. This one certainly is the most well written and acted. His first move both on Krypton and earth is diplomacy... What made him great is that he was an opponent rather than a villan. Many films after this took that approach... And, actually Kal and his dad are traitors and thieves....
@@RAZR_Channel I didn’t know that. But, I always know Zod is still a traitor and trying to take over krypton before Jor El sentence him and his allies to the phantom zone.
@@nathancruz9172 Na man... in the 1st major sequence of the film. When Zod busts into the council chamber he's talking about how the politicians were in "endless debate" and had lead Krypton to ruin. So, ya in that act he did overtake by force (technically making him a traitor)... but that was after watching politicians do nothing about what Krypton was facing (extinction). So we(the audience) are introduced at a time when Zod had tried diplomacy for years and finally revolted. And as portrayed by the film he had many supporters. In that same scene (when he busts in to the council) ... he clearly tries to reason with Jor. And later in the fim he say they did agree that Krypton was dying. So apparently things between them had been civil up until that time. Zod does not attack Jor until later. And at that time Jor had Stolen the Codex (making him a traitor as well). I love the way Zod's character was written. He Never lies... not even to Kal about being at odds with his father (Jor) and killing him. And according to this narrative Zod was right... All the people of Krypton were destroyed... and maybe everyone knew it was doomed anyway... but how to escape it is what all the Political debate was about. Both Jor and Zod knew they had run out of time... and if we take a look at the human history books it would not be the first time an empire fell due to politics. Maybe you and I are like Zod and Jor... Can't agree on it... other than it's a Great Film Script. The only thing I Really hated about the film was Amy Adams... She's so ugly I can't look at her. Lois Lane is traditionally a Screaming Hot Brunette.
i still don't understand why people hated how the city got destroyed. Like, two people with godlike abilities fight and you expect it to just be throwing some punches and no repercussions? no, there will be damage, this fight is just realistic to what would actually happen in this scenario.
Anybody else notice when zod hits superman with the metal beam the sign behind superman says 106 days without injury but when superman slams against it the 1 and 6 fall off the sign? 🤣🤣🤣

@Luc Germain The Dark Knight is not a comic book movie. It is a crime drama with characters loosely based on comic book characters. V for Vendetta is a political movie with all of the politics from the comic either removed or watered down. Watchmen is a soulless piece of crap with (some) pretty visuals and a husk of the story and themes that the comic is about. Zack Snyder did to Watchmen the same thing he did to Dawn of the Dead. Removed its soul and all sense of wonder and replaced it with his myopic edgy thirteen year old view of the world. His best movie is Legend of Guardians: Owls of Ga'Hoole because the constraints of it being a children's film ironically prevented his inherent lack of maturity to ruin the source material.
What I like about this is how it shows how someone breaks down and loses it when their beliefs, or purpose is just shattered into pieces. It isn't the most in depth, but it was still interesting to see.
Don’t forget Zod literally just got to Earth. Can you imagine if he was on Earth as long as Superman. That would of been the biggest ass Whoopin Superman has ever had.
The fight has to be just the right amount of time so the movie credits end 5 only minutes before the next viewing forcing the underpaid cleaning staff to deal with cleanup in 3 minutes or less (1 minute to get in and 1 to get out).... it's like Black Friday after every showing except the last... Many a janitor died to bring us this information...
Superman is so powerful in the MCU it would take Thor, Captain Marvel and Ikaris teaming up to defeat him. And it would be bloody, only one would remain in the end and it would be Thor.
