And yes, Zack is taking inspirations from animated shows and utilizing them in his live action movies and the animated Superman series from the 90's is where he got the idea of Superman turning against Earth under Darkseid's behest from.

*I've been comparing the DCEU (Snyderverse, not the Hamadaburgers) with the DCAU since BvS.* This video is extremely well made and striking similarities are quite mind-blowing. But there are more similarities like Batman being an established veteran crimefighter when Superman just started (Martha Kent in the 1996 TV movie premiere Superman: The Last Son of Krypton refers to Batman as the "nutjob in Gotham") and Batman being the first superhero Superman encounters and Batman being untrusting and confrontational with him (in the next TV movie special World's Finest, later retitled to The Batman Superman Movie: World's Finest, the titling being very similar to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice). Superman even tells Batman he won't allow his brand of vigilantism in his city. There's also a scene where Batman threatens Lex after learning of his connection to the Joker and his Kryptonite statue. There's also a terrorist incident where Lois gets involved and Superman arrives to defeat the terrorists and save Lois. Bruce even briefly dates Lois in it lol.

Snyder's whole schtick is to deconstruct characters and then put them back together. If you were to take apart anything and put it back together, it gives you insight on how it operates. This will give you a better understanding of the inner workings of anything you deconstruct. Snyder's point wasn't to change Superman, but to stripe him down to his parts, so the viewer can watch it go back together. In Superman's case, it allows you to understand why Superman makes the choices he makes. People just say " it's the Kent's, they raised him right" and that is partly true, but it doesn't matter how you were raised, if you have ultimate power, then you are likely to corrupt. You should see Superman morally challenged, so you understand the 'Whys' of why he doesn't get corrupted by power. Generally, people draw lines with things because they experienced something they don't want to go through again. In Man of Steel, Superman felt forced to kill Zod. But, ultimately he knows he had the choice and took the wrong one. And he will live with those consequences. That is a constant reminder than he always has a choice, and if he makes the wrong one, it can cost lives. So, his line becomes the "no kill rule" and he weighs his choices. Everyone thinks they have a "no kill rule." They think, they were raised properly and would never kill someone, that is until a choice is presented. You can't say you would never, but there may be a circumstance where you may have to. People are uncomfortable with the fact that Superman was put in a position where he felt he didn't have a choice. They think a writer should never write Superman as morally gray. But, Superman should be morally gray until he experiences what his power is capable of and then create lines he won't cross making him morally absolute. I can't begin to tell you how many people find Superman boring, but then they watched MOS and had a whole different outlook on him. He is humanized, relatable and it makes him interesting to people. He isn't dark, he is a guy with tremendous power in a dark world, and his heroes journey is to overcome that and be a beacon, an example for the world. Deconstructing a character gives them greater contrast from the beginning of their journey to the end. You see the ingredients first, then it gets put together and the final product. Snyder's Superman wasn't a finished product, he was in chapter 3 of a 5 film story.

I am one of those people who didn't like Superman before Man of Steel, but Snyder made me realize that the world around him was boring more than the character. Clark Kent is a fundamentally *good* *person* who doesn't know what to do with the Godlike power he was born with. We may not have power like Superman's, but the uncertainty of not knowing what to do with what you have is the most relatable thing I can think of.

Zack Snyder reads more comics than the people who say he doesn't.

Yup those are parallels. Just wish we can finally get Brainiac in live action Superman movies and have Supergirl team up with him to stop the villain and not keep going through freaking repeats.
