This is one of the great things about RU-vid. Finding these hidden gems. Absolutely beautiful song hidden amongst the garish clutter of so many worthless trinkets of noise.
Never thought to watch "The Prince and Me" before because it seemed like a tween flick. Bored on a Saturday night and heard this in the movie. OMG, I have totally fallen in love with Marc Cohn's music. "I Hope that I Don't Fall in Love with You" and "Man of the World" are AMAZING. I can't find this anywhere but here and have listened at least a dozen times.
I want to be a man of the world With blood in my veins and a hurt in my heart Out in the street with the noise and the dirt And the ones still looking for a brand new start Oh I've been sleeping far too long Hiding out in a palace of gold Show me one thing before I'm gone That can't be bought and can't be sold Show me how to come alive Show me how to make you mine 'Cause if you'd only be my girl I could be a man of the world Then I could be a man of the world
ok so the movie is on again. This song comes on. I stop everything I'm doing. I think. It doesn't help. So I listen. Holding back a tear. Both eyes watering. I thank that one guy for being the one I fell for. We don't talk.
I have to admit this song really makes me think, especially about the one I fell for many years ago but couldn’t hold onto things just didn’t work but she showed me something that couldn’t be bought or sold and that was her friendship
the solution to being a man of the world is in this song. thanks for posting this wonderful simple song.. sometimes the beauty is in the simplicity of the message.
“You read and write and sing and experience, thinking that one day these things will build the character you admire to live as. You love and lose and bleed best you can, to the extreme, hoping that one day the world will read you like the poem you want to be.” Charlotte Eriksson . . . Amen, Will
"If it were not for hopes, the heart would break." Thomas Fuller . . . . . . . . Et in nomine Patris et Spiritus sancti, exaudi orationem meam: Amen! Will
