A fatal accident claimed the life of two people on 20 January at Chumoükedima’s 7th Mile at around 8:50 p.m. The accident occurred as the driver of the Alto 800 bashed inside the truck parked at the National Highway, 7th Mile, opposite to Nayara Petrol Station from behind. It was reported that there were two people in the car, a husband and a pregnant wife where both died at the spot. Seeing the situation, the public immediately informed the police department to come to the spot, and some spectators told NLTV that the driver was alive for at least one and half hours after the accident, but it was a total failure from the side of the department to save one life and blamed if they had reached at time or had given the responsibility to the public to carry the driver to the nearest hospital. On the other hand, one police personal said, "I have to speak to my officer" and didn't move him for timely treatment.
