No way it was a trump supporter, self immolation is seen by Buddhist monks as the ultimate selfless act of sacrifice, and since Thich Quang Duc, the Buddhist monk, who's act of self immolation was caught on camera in 1963, it has been an international symbol of peaceful resistance. Not saying I agree with the act, but no way a trump supporter was that enlightened to try and self sacrifice for the greater cause. I'm betting it was someone protesting Gaza or another human rights issue, and just chose a place and time they'd get the most media coverage.

Every American has the right to be tried by a jury of his/her peers. A defendant may forego that right of his/her own choosing. But the state may not impose that option in a criminal trial. To do so would go against the 6th Amendment. The Framers stipulated this right as a bulwark against secret trials. You know, the kinds of trials that anti-democratic, authoritarian governments have.

Because unless I am mistaken, only the defendant can waive their right to a jury trial. If the trial were to be changed without Trump's consent, his constitutional rights would be violated and any guilty verdict, should one or more be reached, would be overturned instantly.

About jurors, they should have been kept safe, away from any public attention during selection and then through the trial, and importantly, afterwards as well. The only people who should have any details on them should be kept to a minimum and sworn to keep their identities secret .
