On some of the great whales (not sure of humpbacks) it's actually impossible for them to swallow something as large as a human because their esophageal opening is too narrow due to eating only small fish and crustaceans.

So this couple of whales were just chilling near a fishing boat, when the male whale said: "Hey, let's swim under their boat, and blow the air out of our blowholes and let's capsize their boat, it'll be fun! " "Okay let's do it!" replied the female whale. So they did just that, and then the male whale said: Okay and now let's eat them! To which the female replied: "Nah, I agreed to the blow job, but I am NOT swallowing the sea men!"

Like good ol' Jesus (I mean, there's debate still about that one). But there were a couple of accounts by Romans during the time he would've been alive, talking about a prophet who was seen as quite dangerous, due to the gathering of people being far large than normal for most prophets. There's just too many accounts from differing parties to suggest that Jonah wasn't real. I mean, he was probably just some hermit on a beach.

Yeah, I agree that ONE expert is not the best way to confirm something scientifically. Also, only about 100 billion people have ever lived on Earth so far in recorded history, so this one in a trillion seems unlikely, and the figure is far too vague to be an accurate educated guess. I'm guessing it may have been a figure of speech. One other possibility though, maybe the "expert" really was talking about the chances of being actually fully swallowed into the Whales gullet or stomach, and not merely being held in the mouth for a while and then spat out. In which case, maybe the one in a trillion guess is accurate, especially since it hasn't been verified as happening yet.......
