Man Tips: Replacing Oil in Generator

W E old farm guys, run an engine, for 4 minutes or so. THEN, drain the oil / change filters.....etc. I tip my gen up, using 4 x 4 block, on the opposite side of this drain plug, thereby making sure, ALL is gone out. TIP: Never, ever start, or stop any gen, with A LOAD ON IT. Run gen, for 2 minutes, with no load before shutting down. SAVE your AVR in it. Also, check the brushes ( if not a brushless gen) every 500 hours or so. Change them , at 1800 hours of use. Cost is about 5 pair, ( 5 gen sets) for 25 canadian, or so. ) oldtech

Harley, don't use a torque wrench as a breaker bar. Put a pipe over your wrench handle if you have to. Also, the hash marks on the cap are not for checking levels. Proper oil level is to the edge of the fill port. Just look at the picture to the left on your machine. Other than that, you're perfect.

I have a magnet that got destroyed on the rotor of a Black Max just like you’re showing on this video. Would you happen to have one or even the whole rotor? If you do have the magnet, which direction does it go in, (north and south poles)?
