Yes, if Man United had lost the final, Ronaldo may be so eaten up by guiilt for missing the penalty, he may not be as confident going forward to win 4 more CLs. This type of matches could make or break a player.
clzm90 Not Ronaldo. Ronaldo is the most determined player of any other player in history! The Euro 2004 final, he lost and after that, he vowed he’d win a Euros and did so in 2016. He’d have been upset about the penalty miss for a while but things like that don’t phase Ronaldo for too long. He would have stopped till he’d won a CL.
Ronaldo missed his shot because Chelsea in that year conducted a research and found that when Ronaldo paused in his run there is a 60% chance of him going left and cech remembered that
Funny story, my dad was watching this game on telly and there was a storm going on. When terry went up to win it the power went out. My dad was stuck there for around 10 minutes and when it turned back on, he saw van der sar waving his arms around.
i still remember i saw the match late night and missed my engineering university exam......no regrets till now as i cleared the same paper next semester because i am die hard fan of Manchester utd
This was the last time me and my dad watched Manchester United lift a European trophy. I have great memories of us dancing into the pub. Unfortunately I lost him in 2011. RIP dad. I watched this little documentary with a tear in my eye.
This was the peak of everything. Peak Man Utd line up vs peak Chelsea line up. Every player in their prime, fully fit. Every superior talents imaginable in the teams. And ultra genius managers. This, is what I missed from the Blue vs Red rivalry.
When your luck is not favoring you so these things happened Lampard hit the bar Drogba hit the bar and than Man utd has to thanks rain and I believe Terry didn't slipped on purpose rain was the Main reason it happened
@@mzmas24 well, win is a win but still, lame af. No thrill at all. Nothing exciting happened in the game. I may not a fan of liverpool but i still watch the final cos its ucl. Grandest stage of all.
Though it was a 1-1 score, this is arguably one of the most intense UCL finals.. with the fact that it was the first time all english final adding more pressure to the teams.. respect to both clubs..ggmu
Amazing moment. Wished Ji Sung Park had played this grand final. He performed so well this particular season including key factor for winning the semi finals. Those who dont know he was left out the squad at the final (not even on the bench).
@@XMrJust And SAF's promise to play him next time probably cost us the next year. We were favourites against Barca that year and SAF went and made a lot of strange changes in the final like playing CR7 as ST instead of on the wing.
@@kentnaicker7305 Alguna vez explicó por qué lo planteó así? Cristiano jugó toda la Champions en banda o detrás de un delantero y en la final lo pone como 9.
@@chukwuebukachukwuokpala2524 Owen Hargreaves was the man during OT. Manchester had reached its limit and moral was down but he didn’t give up and took the ball as far away possible from the box.
I was 15, and a die hard United fan. I remember watching this match on an old TV in a room where nobody would distrupt me. Remember the penalty Ronaldo missed, and thought Untd lost and started crying... It was so hard and also so enjoying. Ever since I never felt that feeling, like never ever in any other situation. It was unbelievable! This is the match I always remember of, and whenever I see Ronaldo playing for other teams, I still feel hurt, and I know he lost his trueself after leaving United. He was never the Roony we knew, he is now just the Ronaldo that lives in the shadows of Messi. Back then, Messi was his shadow.

All sporting events in 2008 was epic. And it was a year of Spain! This UCL final and Wimbledon final in 2008 was stand out for me,never in my life I will forget these two events.
I remember this game like it was just yesterday, I was in my first of high school in a boarding school and we were not allowed to watch, listened to it on radio, undoubtedly the best game for me...And the greatest moment as a united fan
Is it just me or do you sense the players play for something more than the name on the back then I’m not saying football isn’t great now it’s just I remember back then the passion even mediocre players played with insane tbh
Though now we, Chelsea have 2 UCL trophy (ehem...) this Final is still painful. But every success build from failure and experience. Congrats Chelsea !!!!! 🎉🎊
This was my first ever CL final i watched as a kid. I supported United, but the more i got older i realised what great team Chelsea had, they also deserved it to win. Exciting and thrilling game until the end with two legendary teams. Great memories!
Well, currently after MU last win they lost 2 final while Chelsea now have 2 UCL. But, the way Lampard, Drogba, Cech, Terry, Cole, and Essien play was amazing. And you watch the rise of 2 best player in this century
This was (in my opinion) the worst I have ever felt as a Chelsea. Even the disgraceful game could be counted, but just because it came down to one disappointing moment.
When Chelsea lost this final in 2008 as a fan i was so devastated i cried all night. But its 2021 now and Chelsea have won 2 UCL trophies after losing this while Man Utd lost 2 UCL finals after winning this If you're reading this never give up
I know that tevez left man utd to go to man city but i still like him because he helped us win the double that season and he made man city's life a living hell few seasons after joining them 😂😂
@Adarsh Krishna And he kept scoring against Chelski for ManCity which was good for ManUtd😀 I liked Tevez and don't blame him for leaving I just wish we'd never got Berbaflop because Tevez left because Ferguson prioritised him over Tevez and there's no denying ManUtd would've been more successful than they were in the next few seasons after Tevez left with Tevez in the team instead of Berbatov. Compare the 2 player's tallies, important contributions in big games against the top teams, what the 2 players won in their career's, the 2 player's work rate during games etc... Everything is chalk & cheese.
He also "won them" the red card against Drogba which I think was extremely vital. It may have had the same impact as Zidane's sending off in the World Cup final. During extra time, United had to play the ball out because some player was injured/hurt. Chelsea gave the ball back to them, but playing it out of play deep in United's half which pissed the United players off because it gave Chelsea the opportunity to press them. Tevez later did the same that led to an argument between the players which ultimately culminated in Drogba's sending off.
@@relentero8547 Yep, even co-commentator Andy Gray said when they attacked Tevez: "Well I don't see Chelsea's argument here. Twice, they have done it to Manchester United." And after the red card for Drogba: "Chelsea have brought this upon themselves."
I was 9 when I watched this final. I still remember covering my eyes with blanket on pens and after that screaming and running through my house. GGMU 👿
@@ZainabProductions yeah because man utd have giving the team their met a fight for the trophy. Solskjaer will do it if they go to the final. Not like Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho.
@Muhammad Eyssa lol you are saying as if you are the owner of the Liverpool 😂😂😂 Grow up there’s bigger things to do in life than taking pride in past achievements. The only thing that matters is the truth
what a final i remember, bro they deserve an oscar for that night, the rain, the drama, fight spirit of the players, ferguson, chelsea, ronaldo, the stadium, i remember this night ......n im a united fun what a chance.
Massive United fan, I remember watching this game and having tears in my eyes when we won. Long time before we lift that cup again but I long for that day
There comes a time in life when you need luck and my beloeved United was very lucky that night. 9 out of 10 JT would score that penalty kick. It wasn't to be unfortunately for him. Happy times for Manchester.
Chelsea is great team at these era. 2008 finale, 2009 lose semifinal against barca with controversial refaree, and finally the got it in 2012. Respect for chelsea.
If only the current squad had this much heart for the shirt what an attacking force United were Nani tevez Rooney and in my opinion the best version of Ronaldo
What a great final this was. Interesting to see Ronaldo's reaction, as he knew he was leaving to Madrid for a year but played top level football that yr
