Lightening the firearm only makes it easier to carry, not necessarily shoot. Less weight means less mass to absorb the recoil. Carbon fiber .308 or 12ga off hand? My shoulder aches just thinking about that. IMNSHO, standard weight firearms in "weaker" calibers are better for smaller/weaker shooters. A .380 mini 1911 or Mark IV are great training pistols. For rifles, a 10/22 or M&P 15-22, though really unless you get really crazy lightening it, a 16" .223 isn't too bad ( the noise is usually more disruptive to a new shooter than the recoil ). All that said, I'm sure Mere already has a few guns of her own.

A Carbon fiber gun would theoretically kick more, being lighter then steel.

@@Captain_Coleslaw Yup! Simple F=ma. However, a carbon fiber AR15 in 5.56 with a good brake would probably suit her just fine, since 5.56 doesn't kick much in the first place. And a .22lr (thouh a Henry would be light enough without being carbon fiber). And how about a .300 Blk subsonic? A heavy gun with a good brake would produce the lightest recoil, but the right caliber with the right brake should still be a good combo on a light gun. All for wieldability. Who said Mare was going to go into competition? Maybe at some point...
