Last weekend I installed a Red Rock Cold Air intake. My 23 TRD Off Road is quicker and has a deep throaty sound when my foot is in it. Today I’m having an Overland Torque Tune installed. After the OTT is installed my TRD will be pumping out 318 horsepower and 295 lb ft of torque at 2K RPM.
This intake setup paired with a Overland Torque Tune + 4.88 or 5.29 gears would be amazing , I don't have a tacoma yet, I actually have a 2015 3.7L mustang convertible, I have a afe intske system on that + a tune + 3.73 gears + catback exhaust and its amazing night & day difference from factory. Getting ready to do a e85 capable flex fuel tune on it soon. But I plan on getting a tacoma after it's paided off and I'm getting a list of parts & ideas for the perfect daily driven & road trip tacoma
Would you say this is better than the S&B intake? Im debating on either getting this intake with throttle body spacer or the S&B intake. Which one would you recommend? I’d also be pairing it with the Carven exhaust so it should sound really good. I’ve got a 2020 TRD Pro
I have this on my Superduty Godzilla and am getting one for my wife's Tacoma. I had one on my Powerstroke also. I am very impressed with the quality and peace of mind knowing that no dirt is getting through the dry filter vs the oiled version. The sound increase is just enough to make you happy but not give you a headache on a long trip. I am also going to get her the Banks Pedal Monster. I have one on my Godzilla and it made a night and day difference.
Nice deep howl, more than my Trd pro intake assembly has. Also have a Sprint throttle booster on my Tacoma, that made a very significant improvement with throttle response and cut 0-60 time from just under 8 seconds to just under 7 seconds, while pushing 285-70-17 6 ply Falken AT3.
Great job on the video Jon! Thanks for making it. I had a similar experience when I installed the TRD Cold Air Intake for my 4runner. It's got just enough extra to let you know you did something. When I added the TRD exhaust as well, same thing really. The two definitely seem to work well together, and you can definitely hear a difference (ALL the time...) but the real reason I did it was MPG. The first road trip I took after having both on there I got 23+MPG on the highway from Nevada to Oklahoma in July. Once everything settled in that number calmed down a bit, but I get high-18s in the city on average, and I've got a giant wooden box in the back that adds a substantial amount of weight.
For sound yes it works. For power NOPE!! ECU will control the power so no increases in horsepower just sound, so you think your fast. Tune or turbo only way to get power!!!
Same thing, just more plastic. Sound is the only difference you'll get. You include this with a forced induction such as a super charger or turbo charger. You would have real dynamometer results. As is save your money. A pedal commander is legit.
I like how this one is a big more quiet at wide open throttle. I feel that the throttle response is a tiny bit bette than the S&B too and that’s with the added weight on this truck.
@@TRDJon Ok cool appreciate your feedback 👍🏼 I think i’ll end up going with S&B because i like how it looks a lil better, but aFe looks great too. Keep up the awesome tacoma content!
I have the S&B CAI and the sounds generated by it are crazy(in a good way), and I do feel like it boosts power ever-so-slightly. I also have the Beatsonics Shoft Power, and the throttle lag has been greatly reduced.
The only problem with "actual" cold air intakes is your letting more dust in the motor, most of the time you actually need a tune to see a slight performance increase, this is probably the best intake I've seen for a Tacoma if your not offroading
The stock box is technically a cold air intake as well with it pulling air from the fender well. I show at the end of the video the filtration of this box, and it was REALLY REALLY good! Thanks so much for watching!
Those cone filters are insanely good at filtering. I had an S&B on another 4Runner and things stayed clean even when we went to the desert often. Even Sandy Cats RU-vid channel recommends them just for the sole purpose of filtering, doesn’t care for the power addition if any.
This guy used to be the best Toyota RU-vidr then he made a stupid clip saying he wouldn’t make a video on the Toyota Tacoma full leak while everyone was making videos
That’s fine then since you only see the smaller picture I guess. If you don’t wanna watch you don’t have too. Go watch those other RU-vid’s that leaked it, and then come back to my channel on Friday when I actually show you the vehicle while those others don’t. 🙃
