Manchester Attack: Vigil poem of defiance 

Manchester shall stand strong. He spoke out that poem with passion

I keep coming back to this. So powerful, and a wonderful expression of pride in our community. The Mancunian spirit won't be shaken by the cowards who fear it.

I'm proud to be mancunian, nothing will fear us.

For the *UNTS posting negative comments, Really 22 people lost their lives on a night out. Here in Manchester where I live we responded by not being (narrow minded, racist islamophobes) but by helping each other. People offering beds to strangers, lifts to strangers, TAxi drivers (many muslim or from ethnic minorities) taking people to hospital for FREE! We had our vigil as a show of love not hate. We showed that we will carry on as before and not be made to be afraid and certainly not be made to hate which is what they wanted. An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind!

This is not for the terrorists. This is for us and our communities in Manchester. Don't bring politics into this, it's not about that, it's about love and support x

I'm not one for poetry normally but that is brilliant.

People are missing the point, its supposed to show we are still unified and not divided (which is their aim). This isnt supposed to stop terrorism.

It's really nice to see some people care more about hating others than sympathising with the families who lives have been torn apart , or a city that has been rocked. Thanks for the hatred it's really helpful and comforting, it's great when others think they know how everyone thinks without ever listening 💜

I often come back to watch this! I still can't get over this happening where I live I'll never forget hearing that explosion or the IRA one .... Gosh I love this city I wouldn't want to come from anywhere else! ❤ r.i.p 22 👼

So Winston Churchill or Martin Luther King gives a speech and everyone praises them but this man gives a speech to bring people together after a terrorist attack and everyone criticises him. This isn't a poem/speech about stopping ISIS or terrorism, it's about how us people need to act together and not against each other. Us Brits never back down...

this moment was all about uniting the people of manchester which i what they needed at the time, now is not a time to be angry and have fight talk, it's about love and that we are all here together

I thought the poem was great- we will not be broken by one evil act, we will not choose hate because of one evil man. The people making negative comments do not understand the sentiment. The people making racist comments are truely disgusting.

This is not about stopping terrorism, but it is about lifting the people's spirit. Let;s be honest, terrorism can't be stopped, any lunatic is a potential terrorist, we cannot prevent everything. But the least we can do, and what this poem does, is encouraging people not to be afraid.

The reason for the poem wasn't to stop ISIS, it was a way of uniting Manchester in a time of need

George Galloway once described Israel as 'a festering sore in the Middle East.' Pretty inflammatory language, but it does contain some merit. An apartheid state lauded in a way that must make older, white South Africans scratch their heads in bewilderment. A victim status on par with Mike Tyson accusing Desiree Washington of rape. My point is that there has to be a two-state solution as part of a wider effort to reduce tensions in the region. Maybe then we'll see a reduction in extremism.
