Man City vs Stoke 2011 FA Cup Final - Yaya Toure was the hero for Manchester City as his second-half pile-driver won The FA Cup for the club for the first time since 1969, and their first piece of silverware in 35 years.
It was the midfielder's goal against Manchester rivals United in the Semi-Final that saw them reach Wembley again 30 years after the club lost in The Final to Tottenham, and the former Barcelona man stepped up again to clinch victory with an unstoppable strike against the resilient Stoke City.
It came on a day of celebration for the City of Manchester, but this victory will mean so much to the blue half who have been taunted annually by their neighbours in red.

Manchester City - Record highest attendance for English football match in history. 84,569 fans for Man City v Stoke City in the FA Cup. City have always had a very good following. Unfortunately 99% of football fans in this Country are ignorant so sing "Where were you when you were shit!" to us when they come to Manchester. Not realizing that we were in fact...always there. These are facts and figures, its not fictional crap.

Gutted that we didn't win, but it was still a great day. I was only 12 when I went to this game, but the memories of supporting my local team at the FA cup final will stay with me forever. #stoke

I'm a Man City fan and was at the final. I have to say the Stoke Fans were fantastic. The atmosphere they created why they sang "Delilah" before the match was incredible. I'll never forget that. Stoke very nearly won the match with the one-on-one on Joe Hart in the second half when the score was 0-0. Hats off and total respect to the Stoke Team and Tony Pulis who stayed on the pitch and applauded the City players when they collected the cup. Classy.

When I talk to Man City fans it's still nice to see that they still remember that us Stokies stayed in the ground to see Man City pick up the cup. They say it sort of made the day so much better. Anyway nice to see they havent forgot with all they have had to cheer about over the last few years.

Completely night and day in the Semi vs Utd that year and Stoke in the final. The latter was a thoroughly enjoyable day out and the Stoke fans were so sound. I was in tears as my family had gone through decades of following City for no success… Stoke fans were to a man, very congratulatory and said well done.

Was a sad day, but we simply ran out of steam. It was probably the best Tony Pulis team we had, but injuries and all that really didn't help. Etherington was not fit, Pennant wasn't fit, Fuller was out. Citeh just had too much for us that day. Still a proud one, and I can say I was there in the crowd, proudly watching on as our boys give the best they could. Who knows, penalty for Kompany's handball? Jones takes that chance? Could have been all different.

not always though mate, there are alot of club veterans out there, like guys who have been at the club most of there careers and have the club in there hearts. your right about the moneymen but the men who have the clubs in there hearts are still very much there, and most clubs have atleast one of them.

Tevez played, because if he hasn't enough matches, he become free agent. That was the reason why Mancini let him play, but this is obvious. The fact, that he was in really good shape, after he came back, shows how great player could be Tevez if wouldn't be the six month vacation. If I misunderstood you, sorry, my bad, my english isn't the best yet.

Stoke had Huth and Etherington under injury clouds up to kick off. These have been our best two players for 2010/11. We didn't even have our attack and defense worked out at kick off. Against Man City what sort of chance did we have? Etherington was not fit 4 the final - he couldn't even run.

You touched on the points, but with new information, just like when you added Paul Scholes when you realized Giggs wasn't enough. I would prefer it if you admitted your mistakes in future, it helps you grow as a human being I feel. I admit my mistakes, just like when I tried to cross breed a dog and a cat, it did not end well and I can fully admit that. I'm just sorry that we lost Mr Quigley. See how good that feels? We have been winning the league and taking part in the CL, usually till the latter part of it, for years now.Once every now and again a money driven challenge comes along, its City now, it was chelsea 5 years ago but dont worry we always see it off. Remember City offered RVP 300k a week this summer but he said no because he wanted to come to United, that says it all.

We came second last year on goal difference and lost the league in the final 3 minutes of the season once QPR knew they were safe.. We were missing our captain for most of the season and had the worst injury list in Premiership history so after all that bad luck we were still level on points with a side who spent a billion pounds. When i say we are top dogs in the Premiership it is unquestionable as we have won 12 titles and probably another this season, City bought 1.

He cost half as much as Torres and people thought TOURE was a waste of money? Probably the first transfer in history to actually benefit both sides greatly. Barca get Busquets and Mascherano (much better for their style of play) and Man City get Mighty Yaya

I'm not sure what you're getting at, I just provided an equally legitimate quote from the office of Master Wayne Rooney. I do appreciate the concerted efforts to sum City up for me, I can tell there's a lot of love gone into those tries. I do believe you're mistaken about that Ryan Giggs stat. He has more appearances than City as a club, not than all the players combined (because we've obviously been relegated). No worries though, being wrong hasn't stopped anyone here before. ;)
