Manchester Roman Fort 

The fort of Mamucium sits in the heart of Manchester at Castlefields and is free to view although a daylight visit is recommended. The fort was founded around AD79 and had 3 rebuilds during its operation with the fort being abandoned towards the end of Roman Britain in the 5th Century. Trains stop at Oxford Street or Deansgate otherwise it’s a 15 minute walk from the central shopping area. #archaeology #history
