Republic Commando kicked me off in my love of Mandos. I memorized Vode'An and looked for the translation and fell in love with what looked like a rich history just from one song. They have taking over the Jedi as my favorite faction.
"Here's why you can't exterminate us, aruetii. We're not huddled in one place-we span the galaxy. We need no lords or leaders-so you can't destroy our command. We can live without technology-so we can fight with our bare hands. We have no species or bloodline-so we can rebuild our ranks with others who want to join us. We're more than just a people or an army, aruetii. We're a culture. We're an idea. And you can't kill ideas-but we certainly can kill you."
@@ugiustuskeiserus8066 but you know, just because it hasnt been used yet, doesnt mean it cant be in the future. Especially when its Dave Filoni. Hes a fan of the old EU as most of us too, he played with the idea of bringing Revan into clone wars after all^^ and hes a huge fan of the Mandalorians. There is hope i think^^ and technically, the Old republic has not been directly contradicted by the new shit "yet" so we might as well consider it canon, whit all the refrences to it in CW, Rebels and whatnot.
the last thing we need is disney to recycle original/GOOD concepts into half-assed/off-brand variants. Even when they literally copy/paste that shit without much if any changes, i'm sick of that fucking company stealing the good for their warped "canon" just because they can't possible tolerate the fact that somebody outside of their direct employment and supervision has more creative prowess than they do. Quit stealing other shit and labeling it as your own, Disney Wars. Fuck you and your shit company
@@iampotato7712 don't compare clone wars mandalorians with the old republic mandos... they were crippled by a civil war and a pacifist government in the clone wars, also deathwatch fell far far from the mandalorian code of honor
@@iampotato7712 the ancient Sith Empire was literally not even considered an adequate challenge by the Mandos. That's why they fought the Republic and Jedi, because THOSE were worthy foes. And even though they lost, the way they fought would not be forgotten, ever, not even by the Jedi.
@@finrodfel06 bro they legit moved their base to a moon and said "fuck it we will rebuild" i mean the fact they had a basilisk war droid ready to go...
The Jedi let their ideals and values fall apart and we're unwilling to change. The Sith were a scourge that was only a leach to society, so they were sought out and destroyed. Meanwhile, Mandalorians had survival as their primary goal, instead of greed or idleness. They sought to increase their numbers where ever they could. So even during a struggling time, the Mandalorian way will find a way to survive.
@Bostan Liviu if you go back far enough both the sith and the mandalorians refered to a race rather than an order/way of life, the sith go back to the first dark jedi who found a race calling themselves sith and the name simply became synonimous with dark side users, go even further back to before courasant became a city planet and you will find that two species lived on and fought over control. humans and what would later become the mandalorians, at some point the mandalorians got forced off of courasant and traveled to the planet now known as mandalor. thats all i can really remember of this off the top of my head but there are videoes on the various bits of lore in star wars, i would reccomend watching them as they are very entertaining and iluminating.
@@LoliFoxQueen the taung is their name, and mandalorian culture was opened to all species when mandalore the ultimate went to shogun and had a vision to do so(this not being the first time a mand'alor experienced a vision on shogun). And technically the sith order never referred to the species per se, rather the name is a shortening of the original term "lord of the sith" as in the lord or master of the sith species, as the first lords enslaved the species.
@Bostan Liviu Not everyone can be a Mando. You have to have the Mandalorian Spirit, as they say. Yea, anyone can find back alley armor and claim all they want (Like most people believe Jango did, but those people also take that on the words of a character who lied through his teeth and Mandalore was trying to distance themselves from him due to the clone army, so he was, more than Satine could ever be) but it does not make you a Mandalorian. I suggest the Karen Travis Clone Commando books. Amazing reads and give much more detail on Mando language and culture than even the show The Mandalorian could, not to say they haven't, its a damn good show.
Just imagine being a trooper you just survived a battle against the mandolorians and barely won you managed to kill a lot of them before the end but then in the night as you try to sleep you hear them singing and celebrating singing these songs and the next day when you face them even though they lost hundreds they remain unfazed almost excited as the star across at you and slowly you hear them chanting this song with a thunders boom and with joy
That’s exactly what these ancient war songs were for. I also love that you realize mandolorians aren’t afraid to lose in battle, it doesn’t make a difference win or lose, battle exterminates weakness, thus making them better in every way. The mandolorians are my favorites. It’s so interesting how like the Jedi they have a strict way of life that they hold sacred, but unlike the Jedi they are brutal and always looking for a fight, logically then when compared with the sith you would think they are more similar but no. They are different. Sith seek power to gain understanding but mandolorians don’t seek for power necessarily, they seek to rid themselves of weakness. Idk I’m just rambling. All this is just to say that ur comment is lit.
@@will2brown50 🤦♂️😂 the manda people died ages ago, so they made the “mandalorian” a creed not a race. Now any race can join but they have to Accept the mandalorian ways
@@agentrabbit186 the modern day population of mandalore are named mandalorians, yet they do not necessarily follow the creed. That is my point. There is clearly a distinction there
Imagine you're a Sith Warrior, landing on a strange new planet, and the first thing you hear as you step out of the shuttle and into a forest isn't the chaos of battle, blasterfire, flamethrowers licking at bark, screaming, but instead... drums. Drums, echoing all across the forest. Drumbeats, shaking the ground beneath you. Drumbeats, matching your racing heart. Drumbeats, in time with your footsteps. Drumbeats, in time with your blows. Drumbeats that persist long after you flatline.
And here's something most of us missed....Revan himself was technically a mandalore when he took the ultimate's war-mask. By god the conquests they would've had with Mandalore the Revanchist.
Han Solo it ain't about making you wet it's about making you think. No BS, the thing that truly made Revan so great wasn't the Force. But rather his ability to notice the little subtleties. And as a true disciple of the Revanchist i try my hardest to follow that same mindset.
No. You can't be a Mandalorian unless you accept the Resol'nare as your way of life. Which Revan did not. He viewed the Mandalorians as ruthless butchers of innocent people and a threat to the Republic. That's why he hid Mandalore's helmet so no one could take his place. That is, until Canderous earned his trust, who promised that he would unite the Mandalorians but put an end to their crusades.
@@elementer5617 Thank you sir. I wasn't even aware of that. I thought their culture was like the sith's, you know, 'whoever kills the last dark lord becomes the new dark lord.' But now i see their's was more complicated than that. But still, you gotta admit, had Revan chosen to be their leader it would've taken the Republic and the jedi combined to stop him. And even then....
@@QoQabai658 Would have taken the sith also if evan truly did commit himself to mandlorain they would have been unstoppable they would have taken out everyone and everything all the way to the core worlds. Maybe the eternal empire might have even stepped in.

may be a year late here but I always liked the portrayal in the KOTOR games with people like Candorous who, instead of being angry with or hating Revan and the the rogue jedi for beating them in a war and all but destroying their people, instead admire them as worthy adversaries that they have much to learn from
@@noogidoo2217 It's interesting, admirable, and a little bit horrifying, in my humble opinion. Interesting, because it speaks to Mandalorian culture; always advancing, always learning, always adapting, always improving-slowly but surely becoming the perfect warrior. It's admirable for the same reason. It's a little bit horrifying, though, that Mandalore's general reaction to near-genocide is, "Damn, those guys have got it all figured out. I could learn a lot from them!"
Fun fact from the star wars books the Clone troopers would sing Mandalorian songs before and just as they were going into battle. It was their way of psyching themselves up, but also paying homage to the only thing that truly bound them together as brothers due to being slaves.
@@sinctova The reason they sang the Mandalorian songs is that their instructors at Kamino were Mandalorian. The instructors knew that they were basically slaves and could do nothing to save them if they failed to meet the standards of the Kaminoans(death). As such the instructors basically adopted them which is something Mandalorians do often to recruit new members. As such they taught them songs as a way to bind the soldiers together as brothers.
@@babecat2000 The Children Of The Watch seem to be far more entwined with the old ways of Mandalore, so I'd guess he learned it at some point. Maybe it's a M.G.S 3 situation, and we only hear basic because Din already knows Mando'a.
@@totallynuts7595 they alluded to Jango Fett Open Seasons being canon again by making Jango a foundling who fought in the Mandalorian Civil Wars. Every Star Wars rpg paper & pencil or video game I played, I was always playing a Mandalorian. Though I did not complete my Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club beskar'gam (armor), I still have every piece and my buy'ce (bucket/helmet) on my shelf. In Mandalorian, he was named Gaanla Par'Tal, meaning Chosen For Blood, served a clan of battlefield medics. Star Wars the Old Republic, first and only class played: Mandalorian.
It wasn't until I tripped over Star Wars: Rebels a few weeks back that I realized that Star Wars didn't just have a named wiki page for every extra in the movies- they had several fully fleshed out cultures and a few languages. I really have no idea how I didn't see that coming but I am astonished and thrilled to bits.
Rebels is probably the only thing that's decent from Disney. Alot of the comics and books that have been put out over the years are truly fantastic. I recommend you take the time to read some.
@@valnerium Ill agree with you on Rogue One for sure. The Mandarlorian is ok, but they change some serious things when it came to Death Watch/The Watch.

Gra'tua Cuun 2:13 All those who stand before us light the night sky in flame Our vengeance burns brighter still Every traitorous soul shall kneel in our shadow
@Bocaan The Humble During the timeframe of the Mass Effect games, I'd probably give the win to the Mandos, but pre-genophage, the Krogan were virtually unstoppable. And their physiological advantages, such as their redundant organs and regenerative abilities, would likely negate any technological advancements offered to the Mandalorians. It's one of the few scifi matchups I actually find interesting, because it almost entirely ignores the relative power tiers of the two universes in question. Ultimately, it would probably wind up being a numbers game.
@@jaffarebellion292 i think it all depends on the krogan too... if its a 1000 years old battlemaster who is a freakin biotic on top i'd actually say the krogan would win unless the mando is wearing full beskar (which is not a given in the clone wars period... beskar is rare after all) krogan healing factor, their armor, eventually a biotic shield too... that would probably be a bit much for the mando especially since personal shielding was very uncommon in the clone wars era (unlike in KotoR and SWTOR)
@@jareddrakencondor4187 I'd say in fairness, they should be compared at their peaks. The Mandalorians during their war with the Old Republic and the Krogan immediately following the Rachni wars, or perhaps during the Krogan rebellions.
@@jaffarebellion292 you make a good point though at that time the krogans would probably win due to sheer numbers that the mandalorians couldn't match if it came to an all out war... in a one on one fight i'd say the mandos win in 8/10 simply because energy based weapons are a commom thing in SW while they are not in ME. I think the only effective answer ME has to energy weapons are biotic barriers *and biotics are pretty rare) since their shield technology was optimized for stopping slugthrowers

You can hear how the mando’s are being to sing vode an louder and Lou der until they being the attack and a full out war beings between the two legions.
A fun fact the reason why jango fett and boba Fett claimed and the rest of the clones are mandalorian is because Boca'tan was jealous of jango Fett taking over mandalor and became mandalor himself
on the theme I like the detail that the version of Vode An we have (the one in republic commando) is slightly modified with verses like "Coruscanta a'den mhi" ("we, the wrath of Coruscant") where it was originally the wrath of Madalore, showing how the commandos are different yet the same, as you say
It would be especially interesting to see one of these themes in the mandalorian seeing as the tribal theme fits so well with the mandalorian clan concept.
I wouldnt mind doing a cosplay Atin or Darman but we dont really have a good visual on what they look like part from wearing Stealth Katarn class armor
Seeing how original mandalorian Crusaders followed the god of war, truth and honour and worshipped war itself as deity and believed on crusades for holy carnage and self improvement, that defienetly sounds like something Khorne-Flake would like.
One could say the Mandalorians were the strongest race in the said universe of all time.. starting a galactic war, dominating planets; even Jedi acknowledging, even FEARING Mandalorians farrrrr before the clone wars... standing toe to toe and even demolishing the separatist alliance, single handedly with a clone version one of their strongest and most skilled marksmen.. present day clone wars Mandalorian intervention would've been the coolest Fucking thing George could've included into the clone wars.
