September 19, 2014 friday- the day Our beloved Mandolin mastro U. Srinivas left us.
This video of the 3 hour enchanting concert he gave us at our house on May 3, 1989 at his prime age of 20. He was already well established as the most saught after leading artist. Here he is accompanied by a dream team of accompanying artists, Kanyakumari, on violin, Thiruvaroor Bhakthavtsalam on mrudangam, EM. Subramanyam on Ghatam. He played all our earlier requested selections. That was one of the best and meomorable musical evenings, he and his team were in full form.There were some glitches in video recording like power failure needing use of standby generator, moths flying around after the rain,, still I am glad I could get better than 2 hours of recording!, remember this was over 25 years ago!.
We are very unfortunate to lose this genius of an artist at this young age.He has touched millions of souls all over the world with his scintilating music.
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
