Did he also speak to the mothers and fathers who lost their children because Arabs were allowed to share the same roads. Does he think that Israel created this situation out of malice. Israel did what it needed to do to protect it's citizens.
Anyone who disagrees with Patinkin, just go to some Israeli cities like Hebron & see how extreme the hatred for Palestinians is by the Jews there. How any Jew could be okay with subjecting the the Palestinians to Jim Crow-like laws on Palestinian land is beyond me. Kudos to Patinkin for speaking out. Criticizing Israel's inhumane, racist apartheid tactics does not make one anti-Semitic or a self-hating Jew. It just makes one human. -Peace

Actually, in hebron Jews lived for thousands of years, till the massacre of the arabs that killed the jews of hebron in 1929 (see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1929_Hebron_massacre ) . That a few Jews returned to some properties belonging to the Jewish community is a right thaty can't be ignored. In only a very small part of Hebron Jews live, and if the army doesn't protect them they would not be safe. Peace now yes, but true peace. As arabs live in Israel, i don't see any reason why jews can't live in the Palestinian Authorities. I love the actor, but the above speach is just not the whole truth.
I understand how you feel about "our own people" and how bigotted they have become anyone who expresses an opinion or tells of a genuine experience immediately is insulted,receives hateful talkbacks and why?. Qualities that also shine through in your acting characters. Saul Berenson and Jason Gideon. The only thing I don't get... sorry to say, is your singing. I understand you have to do it, but hey, bro.. please leve it to the professionals.
I live in Canada. I could possibly be ignorant which is why I ask a lot of questions and check out sites like Peace Now. Maybe you could help me. From what year to what year did Palestine exist? What brought it down. Who was it's leader before Arafat? What currency did it use? What was its capital? What were it's borders? Was it a member of the U.N.? Was it a member of the League of Nations? Did it have an embassy in the U.S.A.? Did any country in the world recognize it? . . .
I wish I could understand why so many are all for hatred and war and why peace is so horrible? Is there no room for love and peace in your hearts? Are you truly so full of hate that you can never feel anything else? Hate and war only gets more hate and war. I do not understand these concepts. I get angry, all people get angry, but I have never felt hate like some are expressing. And believe me, I have lived thru some horrible things that would definitely spark some speaking into a revenge laden hate, but though I was hurt and angry, I did not act on it. And I'm better for it. You cannot control what others do, but you can control what you do. WHY does religion divide so many? I used to follow an abrahamic religion, I do NOT follow it anymore, there is too much HATE. HATE is always negative there is NOTHING GOOD ever going to come from hate. Please seek peace, at least in your own hearts. One person at time is how it always happens, ONE heart at a time. Peace.
Thank you, Mandy, for speaking up for peace. I believe, as you do, that we are not conquerors but rather leaders. The land of Israel and Palestine belongs to all of the people who live there and have lived there for generations -- no matter what their ethnicity or religion. It is never too late for peace.
I guess that as a father, as a husband, as a devoted artist and for some as a friend , he is just another authority in a very intricate matter called human affairs. Humble yourself.
I hope that more Jewish artists, Jewish business people, Jewish religious and communal leaders, who love Israel - as does Mandy Patankin and as do I - would express these kinds of courageous viewpoints to their friends, relatives, whatever audiences or congregations they speak to, and help others to speak to the optimism that we need to bring peace.
I was grateful to watch this speech........for it showed me not Israelis are like the ones there with their guns and hurting children.........it opened my eyes to another Israeli person..........and I am grateful .......Bless you Mandy Patinkin

Israel is an apartheid state. It needs to be bravely reimagined by Israelis who aren't civil servants. Mandy's position is admirable, but I wonder if he understands that people like him need to dive into the details and weed out the lies that keep the apartheid state legitimate. He is perpetuating an idea of peace, but needs to know that the rationale of apartheid is a set of ideas too.
Since when an actor is an authority on history, policy, geography, etc.? Especially, when he lives in the safety of the United States of America... Why would anybody in their right mind listen to his b/s?

As much as I love this person, listening his speech made me sick in my stamack. He does not know the history of the conflict, he is blissfully ignorant about reality of living in Israel side by side with the inhumane islmists, how dear he signing the boycott letters! Traitor!
