Books:
Seigitai/Justice Corps (2005-11) - Goto Yuka
Jacaranda (2005) - Shiriagari Kotobuki
Tarako Cream/Cod Roe Cream (1980) - Kazuhiro Watanabe
Notes:
1. Here is the Goto Yuka print from Le Dernier Cri: www.lederniercri.org/en/produ...
2. In 2014, Bolino and Taco Che owner Ayumi Nakayama curated an extensive collection of works from Japanese artists in the double exhibition "Heta-uma Mangaro", a gallery of 40 years of Garo and heta-uma history
3. "Shiriagari Kotobuki is the undisputed champion of vaudeville in manga. His work is always absurd and oftentimes intelligent. He flips casually through styles and themes: heta-uma, shojo, gag, surrealism. His first manga in the early 1980s were parodies of 50s-60s period and horror gekiga. He then moved on to basic Japanese social types, like white collar "salary men" and secretarial "office ladies" (but bearded). Shiriagari hit big in the 1990s, receiving numberous awards for his work, most of all the Yaji Kita series, a zany surrealistic perversion of Edo-period travel literature. It was made into a film in 2004. Shiriagari has also been successful as a commercial artist, from character design for a popular national children's television program, to the opening animation to one of the Takeshi Kitano's television variety shows." - AniList
4. AX started in 1998 by publishing house Seirin Kogeisha
5. Jacaranda seems to actually be the least 'heta-uma' like work out of his other series. There is actually quite a lot of detail throughout Jacaranda, but I still wanted to include it in this video just because of Kotobuki's contributions to heta-uma in its later stages
