My mom used to make گُپ چُپ but it was sweet with grinded maash ki dal, deep fry small drops and put in syrup, it was amazing like any mithai. In my country, Mauritius, we call mangochiyan "gato pima" and we can eat fried mangochiyan in bread and butter along with a cup of hot hot tea as breakfast. We can eat it as curry with mangochiyan, fried baigan and aloo, Very yummy and tasty👍👍♥️♥️🤤🤤
