Fantastic!!! The drummer is so good! Sexy! I've heard about him everywhere...but never really paid an attention...sorry...yes THEY WERE RIGHT! HE'S AWESOME! This is for people listened to the original version a thousand times .And open for many versions...well, the most of different versions fail usually...especially " take 5", but this one again tastefully done & again entertaining ! This is the 3rd , or 4th videos of their live footage for me ...& gotta say that they know what they are doing! Again, if you just want musicians to stick with the original version ( well Dave Brubeck band plaid in many different styles themseleves) , then this is not for you! But they did in a tasteful way & very entertaining way & the way of the rearrangement they did is really working as a whole.They posted all the well known standard numbers in their ways & didn't disappoint me at all! EXCELLENT! People know me how picky I am when it comes to music & I don't kiss ass! Lol.so...another terrific job!!!
Far from lame Mario Ramirez , it's a really interesting interpretation that takes Take Five from the five click slot machine to the jungle - full of steamy sinew. Lew Soloff (RIP) is like a latter day Bubber Miley. The great thing about jazz is its capacity to re-interpret, re-invent and twiast tradition. This is a fine example of just that.
