Just finished Manhunt. It was fantastic. Towards the last chapter - I slowed down my reading because I didn’t want it to end. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Mr Swanson, your book in the 90's got me hooked on Tombstone, Wyatt, Custer, and the Little Big Horn !!! I thank you. It is wonderful.

I have loved to read about Lincoln all my life. It may surprise you to learn that, here in Northeast Tennessee, Mr Lincoln is highly esteemed. The area gave more soldiers to the Union cause then all the south combined, 2/3s of the population being Unionist.

Yet, Lincoln had to tread lightly about the war due to them flipping to the south at the wrong wording .

Swanson mentions one Lincoln scholar believes that Booth did not break his leg in the fall at Ford's theater. The scholar I think Swanson is referring to is the author Michael W. Kauffman who wrote the book American Brutus John Wilkes Booth and the Lincoln Conspiracies. I suggest you read that book because I have read it and in my opinion the book is a lot, lot better than Manhunt which I have also read. I consider Michael W. Kauffman to be THE leading authority on the Lincoln Assassination. I have read his book American Brutus cover to cover 10 times because the book is the most informative and best book on the subject. Kauffman presents compelling facts that Booth did not break his leg in Ford's theater but in fact broke his leg after when his horse tripped and fell. I think it interesting that all other Lincoln scholars missed these facts but Kauffman didn't.

The stable boy Booth asked to hold his horse outside Fords theater said Booth kicked him as he rode away from the theater after the shooting. So that's a bit of info

Being from the UK, I always enjoy listening to these lectures about the pursuit of Booth after he shot President Lincoln. I will agree Dr Samuel Mudd was very, very lucky to escape the death penalty after he was found out. I was also appalled and outraged at Colonel Samuel Cox,for whipping one of his escaped slaves to death after he made a false promise not to hurt him. I would have liked to hear him being discussed and rightly condemned. It really was a different, horrible cruel world back then to so many people.

Why in the world would anyone rush in to capture a murderer armed with revolvers, a carbine, and a dagger?

Not everyone is a chickenshit. What planet are you from, btw. Just think Uvalde ... maybe other locations where children are getting murder, yet the cops turned tail and ran.

I have always believed that Stanton had a part in the assassination. He was a power hungry individual. This is NOT nonsense, sir. It is also not a myth.

According to the book The Lincoln Conspiracy by David Balsiger published in 1977 Booth escaped Washington DC with a smuggler friend named Ed Henson and NOT David Herold. The book also says that Lewis Thornton Powell and Lewis Payne were 2 different people and although Lewis Powell carried out the attack on Steward Lewis Payne was found guilty. The book says confession statements by O'Laughlin and Atzerodt state that Payne and Powell were separate individuals. Evidence indicates that Payne was arrested and framed for his cousin, Powell's evil deed. Is any of this true? These facts in The Lincoln Conspiracy book differ from what I have read in all the other Lincoln Assassination books. The Lincoln Conspiracy book also says a man named James William Boyd was killed in Garrett's barn ant NOT Booth. Is that true? The video here says Swanson's book Manhunt has over 400,000 copies in print. The Lincoln Conspiracies book has over 1,000,000 books in print.

Actually a doctor, in the Midwest, claimed that he had treated a man who claimed to be John Wilkes Booth. After the man died, he actually mummified him, and took him around to fairs, and other events showing off the body. it wasn't John Wilkes Booth. James did his research on the book, and I provided primary sources, from the National Archives, for the book. Check out the Lincoln Archives Digital Project, at www.lincolnarchives.org. Go to Special Collections, and look for the Assassination. Clekc on the Primary Source Documents, and check things out.
