Why is it that mental health services are always offered AFTER these horrible events? A bit like shutting the barn door after the horses have escaped. Where are the much needed mental health services BEFORE?? Our lack of attention to mental health issues is absolutely criminal and disgusting.

Neighbors say Card lives a "compound" like environment. How does an Army reservist with expert firearms training who has spent weeks in a mental health institution continue to have access to firearms? Does the FBI have an eye on Card and his compound.

Its messed up that so many things happened that COULD and should have prevented this, and it was just kinda ignored. All these laws people want in place, that wouldnt have prevented this obviously cause he was just left to do whatever the hell he wanted, threats and voices telling him to kill be damned. I hope they catch him fast. I think the army and police need to take accountability a little on this one if they knew he had made threats previously.

You learn something new every day, I definitely thought every state did background checks for semi auto rifles. You don't hear about gun violence in Maine and is probably the reason they felt it was unnecessary.

This appears to be another failure of our mental health system. Prevention is cheaper. When will the message sink in for the officials? Condolences to the families of the victims.

He was not in a militia, and certainly not well organized. There was no reason for him to own a gun. No one should have assault rifles.

Again the cops couldn’t stop this. One more reason to arm yourself, get training and protect your loved ones.

I stand with the community in the fear, anger, shock & disgust they must all be feeling. Thoughts & prayers & condolences dont cut it anymore. Flying flags at half mast doesn't reverse the damage done. A call for action must be demanded. Will our government stand for its own as it has for other countries ?

While youre fear mongered into a shelter in place mandate. You should look out for things like unconstitutional surveillance cameras, breaking ground for unauthorized mines or U.N. soldiers setting up shop somewhere. You cant truss it!!!

Of the people killed and injured, no one had a piece accept the shooter. You need to understand, these kind of attacks are no different than what happened in Israel. If 2 or 3 of those people who were attacked had a piece, they may have been able to stop the carnage. You are the first line of defense, not the cops.
