Manic Panic VS. Arctic Fox : Best Blue Hair Dye Review 

I actually like my hair colour to fade fast so that I can change it more often. I used ion and it will NOT come out. Their pastels don't last but the darker pinks and blues do.

I've been using Arctic Fox for about 2 years now, have done several different colors of theirs, and i really have to say in my opinion they are the best💙 you can mix and customize them too. If youre into purple hair, try their Purple Rain.

I recently dyed my hair green with a mix of Manic Panic's siren song, electric lizard, and a little bit of voodoo blue near the roots. I left it on for a good hour and I have washed it 3 times. Literally nothing has changed. No fading at all. I washed with hot water and regular shampoo, too.

The blue is going to last longer because blue pigment generally lasts the longest and it stains the cuticle. Purple (no matter how cool toned) still has some red in it which cuts down the lasting power.

I also love how Arctic fox fades. I wash my hair every day because i've yet to find a dry shampoo that doesn't make my scalp itch, and the color does fade a bit faster for me that way, but the colors stay really pretty as they fade.

the colors are not comparable, they're completely different colors. you should pick two colors that are simmilar

one reason the manic panic faded as fast as it did is because for some reason the Ultra Violate FADES HELLA QUICK just from sunlight, that's where the silvery tone comes from. Just wanted to put that out there haha not that it makes much of a difference

If you're looking for convenience, Sally's also carries a line called One N' Only (ehh, I think that's it) with Argan oil in it. I used the purple for months before I found Arctic Fox. It works so well. I love it. I just love AF more.

I used Arctic Fox's Poison and it started fading after two days. It's almost completely gone and I dyed it less than two weeks ago.

Have used arctic fox for around 2 years with various colours, I have recently found a brand that tops them and smells even better...Lunar Tides! Their blues are amazing! They are also vegan. US buyers can get hold of them easily and they are cheaper than arctic fox!

Thanks for posting a video about this. I am looking into possibly trying a different brand other than Manic Panic. However, this sounds so inaccurate. There is no way it washed out to that point after 2 washes. I dyed my hair 2 months ago with Manic Panic & mine isn't anywhere near as light as yours. It's in between the two colours you have but closer to the brighter one. I use about 95% Atomic Turquoise & 5% After Midnight, maybe a tiny bit more After Midnight. I don't accurately measure & it varies slightly each time. Why is it blue not purple? This just doesn't sound right at all. You said this isn't paid but it really sounds like this is a sponsored video. The only chance this has of being true is that reds fade really quickly if you spend a lot of time in the sun. This happens with absolutely any hair dye, even permanent dyes. As you used purple on one side & blue on the other it's impossible to say if that was the issue. However, considering that there is only blue left in your hair that is a possibility & would explain why the left over is blue not purple. That however isn't the fault of the dye. I recommend a hat & less sun exposure. The same thing happens if you leave anything at all that is red outside in the sun. This happens because it absorbs higher energy (shorter wavelength) light. Blue however lasts the longest so this is a very inaccurate test.

try brite. its vegan and its made in a Australia. i dyed my hair the purple in feb 2017 and now we're in April 2017 and its bearly even faded, it has started to fade but its still very purple, same with the red, depending how much you wash your hair, it sticks to your hair but fades nicely. and they are cheap, they are about $10AU i don't knoe how much they would be for you, but out of all the vegans brite is the cheapest ive seen. i hope you give them a try.

I've always used manic panic and I'm terrified of trying a new brand and this is the one I wanted to try thank you. Also I did want to say I'm sure you probably already know this but if you wash your hair with cold water when you take a shower it will stay in for sooo long and it won't get all over the shower.

Special effects is a pretty great dye too. Been using them for years. The only color I've been not super happy with is napalm which is a bright orange color and fades faster then others which I've had for months in my hair.

Not all Manic Panoc colours do this though. I've had Manic Panic New Rose and Fuchsia Shock in my hair for over 3 weeks and this shit will not fade. Mind you I have very, very healthy hair so could be why!

I've recently went from red to teal and started out using scruples urban shock and I loved hearing about arctic fox color. I am going to test it out to see which one I like better.

It also depends on how much you wash it, i go 2 weeks and dry shampoo is my best friend. I also shower in super cold water and use color protecting and sulfate free shampoo. I'm gonna try manic panic to cover up a patch of blond where unfortunately a previous color didn't hold too well.

I see this is a years old post but it came up to watch. Lunar Tides is a new hair dye company with spectacular colors that last. Vegan and cruelty free. Juniper Green I recommend if you love dark green.

I've used quite a few brands of dyes and have never had an issue getting blues or greens to stick. Anything with a red pigment (pink, purple, red) never lasts.

My hair is dyed half red Half black and I used manic panic and my hair faded to an orangey color but hasn’t washed out much. The actual redness only lasted about the first two washes before it faded though

I bought and used Poseidon awhile ago to try Arctic fox and it wouldn't stick to my hair. I've always used manic panic which seems to work ok. do you think I just got a bad batch of Arctic fox? Should I try it again or stick to manic panic?

manic panic doesnt stay unless the hair is super bleached, and the purple fades to light green. my experience. my hair is dark blonde.

Honestly for my hair using manic panic it depends on how much you wash it out, Ive used the manic Panic midnight blue and it does fade out after a while like a couple weeks but one thing that I was using was dry shampoo and not washing it out, then when the midnight got faded I went in with a purple and it made this really pretty berry pink

The purple against blue probably wasn't a fair comparison. Purple is the hardest colour to make, and the hardest colour to make last. I've used purples, pinks, blues, greens and reds in manic panic and the longest lasting was the blue. Purple was the weakest always and faded to a blue or green within a week.

I'm using amplified version of manic panic and it barely fades in a month, the classic formula seems awful

Via Naturals Gemstone line lasts so well and faded so nicely. I used their emerald and it is the only mossy Kelly green I've ever found. I got it at a beauty supply and a 4 oz bottle was less than $5. Definitely a good buy!

I love artic fox, it is cheap, smells nice, and last longer. I love to make different combinations with the colors. It is just amazing

unfortunately the purples fade out really fast with Manic Panic. I've been using the Ultra Violet for YEARS and it always fades super fast. But the other colors stay longer...especially the blues! Love the Manic Panic blues ;-) And I'm the same way with Pravana...it just doesn't work on my hair.

Any purple in artic fox and manic panic wash out very quickly. Most blues, greens, reds, and oranges in both brands keep for longer. I've used manic panic most of my teens in the early 2000's. My teen daughters both use manic panic. One used 2 reds mixed together and it is still going strong after 6 months with only some retouching to the ends every now and then. The other used violet at first and it came out very quickly. Then she used voodoo blue and it is just as bright as it was a couple months ago. Manic panic also makes bleached damaged hair healthier.

your manic panic side looks like a faded blue rather than faded ultraviolet, i dont get it...did you have some blue on there before or??

I feel like most people seem to forget that different dyes will work differently for different people and different hair types. The specific hormonal balance in your hair will affect how any dye comes out on you, regardless if it's a direct dye, demi permanent, or permanent. Personally, Manic Panic is my go-to. I can NEVER get it to fade. I use Ion when I need something cheap and I'm doing pastel or need a mixer because it's sooo thick. But I really want to try Arctic Fox and Lime Crime

Manic panic faded that bad in only two washes?? Wow that's quick... I've never tried Manic Panic, I've juts used Arctic Fox, Iro Iro and one color from Raw (Hot Topic) and they all last really well! I love Arctic Fox, but Iro Iro's packaging is the best as it's not in a bottle but like a squeezy bag haha! If you haven't tried Iro Iro you should try it, they're vegan as well =)

My experience with arctic fox was that some of the colors fade reasonably like virgin pink or wrath, but aquamarine did not come out of my hair at all. I had to go to a salon to get it fixed. This was my experience, I can’t speak for anyone else, but beware with aquamarine

I'm but going to try fox next, I used manic panic for a split one side ultra violet the other atomic turquoise. The turquoise looked very dark blue at first then super quickly faded to a light green that won't go away, the purple came out after 2 washes and you can't even tell I had it in at all

Has anyone had horrible luck with Manic Panic blue bleeding/staining but not so with Arctic Fox blue? I used manic panic Rockabilly Blue over bleached hair, and 1. It didn't take that well to the hair in the 1st place (was patchy) so had to do a 2nd application a cpl days later ...and still was a bit patchy despite doing it right (I'm NOT new to colouring my own hair). 2. It faded like yours very fast (2-3 days), every wash turned the shower very blue, and lastly but most annoying, 3. It stained my ears and neck, and anywhere it touched, even after several washes. I couldn't wear my hair down, had to use alcohol wipes on my skin a cpl times a day to wash off the staining, couldn't wear shirts unless they were blue or black, and had to put towels over the couch and chairs. It didn't even look good or very colourful, and yet I had to deal with so much colour staining!! Worst colour ever for me! Artcic Fox Aquamarine looks beautiful, so maybe i'll try that one in the future, although it's so pricey to use either of these dyes. Manic panic for 4oz costs me over $17CAD after tax, and Arctic Fox for 8oz is $30CAD after shipping (if i'm not taxed on top of that... not sure).

I recommend never swimming for a whole day without spraying your hair with conditioner. I had my hair purple and went swimming, my hair turned pastel.

Special FX stays in waaaaay too long if you like that. I dyed my hair purple and pink for months without fading. Purple stayed in for over a year and not even bleach could get it all out so I had to chop it.

Thank you so much! I was searching for something like this for ages! I tried Manic Panic because I've heard so much great stuff about it. But at the end, my hair was a rainbow. In dark and white light, it was such a nice blue, exactly the blue I wanted. But when I went outside, exposing my hair to the sunlight, it was just dark green! I was a bit dissapointed. I then tried to find another vegan hair dye and found Arctic Fox. But before I buy that, I wan't to watch some reviews :)

Same thing happened to me...lol I used manic panic (Same color you have) washed out almost completely the first wash...but the Arctic fox aquamarine still there and almost just as rich as when it was first done over a month later and like 15 washes lol

I can confidently say that with Manic Panic; it sucks. I payed for 3 tubs because I have a lot of hair, and I expected it to stay on. But it was gone by the end of the same week. But I have switched to Arctic and its amazing.

Ugh I just used artic fox! And i don’t care for the color selection. I want denim blue/navy blue but night quite dark. I mix aquamarine and posiedon to make it more blue and it’s still way to green toned.. ugh the struggle i wanted to try manic panic next lol and I shower everyday.. I can’t skip it’s gross and I just do it. Maybe miss one wash a week but that it so i put it in my conditioner.. last time I did splat and it worked great might just use that brand..

in manic panic defense.... the purple color in manic panic is the faster fading outf all their colors. id be interested in seeing the 2 brands purple's compared.

Arctic Fox lasts sooo long in your hair if you take care of it. I can get two months in before I need to re dye it. But even then the faded color isn't bad. I use a mixture of Purple Rain with a touch Transylvania so I can achieve a dark purple. Never trying another dye again!

I use ion color brilliance I love them the color lasts long I recolor after 8-10 washes with minimal fading. Haven't tried artic fox I always used manic panic before.

Ultraviolet from manic panic ruined my hair, I was not violet it was blue and didn't fade early till I had to cut off all my hair
