Hearing and seeing Manics play this song live in Toronto was...Well, the best I can describe it as a religious experience, and this comes from somebody who is not religious. It was pure joy and an adrenalin rush. Such an honest, human song that makes me blossom inside despite all the hardships one may experience.
The Manics finest hour this album. Power of facing. And kudos to Nicky, he gets written out of this period a lot, but this is one of his finest moments lyrically.
Um álbum inteligente, como esta banda tem sido interventiva, didáctica, com excelentes músicas e letras, sempre atuais, atentos,e conseguem tocar e passar a mensagem de uma forma sempre emotiva.Imortais!
Agree with funkymonkey. I love the Holy Bible but it is hard to listen to sometimes because it just documents trauma. This is an extraordinary song within so much turmoil. I was at this gig, standing by the little tree about 40 yards back that most people who have been to the pyramid stage will know. It made me feel so much, as it always does. Good to see that others love it too, Nice one to every one of you.
I was at this gig and remember this well. It really didn't matter that the timing was off on the pedal. A great moment for me in my life. Thanks for posting.
I love the guitar arpeggios that JDB plays in this song, especially during the chorus. It really adds a whole different texture to a relatively simple and over used G,C chord progression which is repeated throughout the song. The solo's ace too.
i reacon that the manic should release a live almum with live tracks taken from their first almum to their current one,as that would be a good idea,as i still like them myself, but they have never released any live albums at all,and i would buy one if they released one.
james keeps giving pissed off signs that his monitors are mixed too low and gets one chorus wrong due to that. it's great but this version is slightly too slow imho.
i just think that the manic should release a live almum with live tracks taken from their first almum to their current one,as that would be a good idea,as i still like them myself, but they have never released any live albums at all,and i would buy one if they released one.
@dylanfuckkaa once they'd sung all they knew about (my hometown) they just wrote mostly meaningless pap with no guts. couple of decent singles here and there but then there should be considering how many there've been
All their songs and lyrics seem very forced from this period. Like they dont believe in any of it. It kinda detracts from the overall effect of the band.
