I was in a car accident a month ago. My mom was driving us home from Starbucks, we were driving 60mph down the highway. My mom was attentive and driving safely. Unfortunately, three teenagers in a truck failed to yield to a stop sign, running right in front of us. We t-boned them, as we had absolutely no time to react. My mom slammed on her brakes as soon as she saw them pull in front of us. Us going 60mph on impact caused their truck to flip over into a ditch, and our car to spin out. The three teenagers survived with absolutely no injuries, while my mom had a concussion and I broke my spine. Paramedics told us that with how bad the impact was, they were surprised it didn't kill us. Teenagers should NEVER drive with more than one friend in the car, as it has been statistically proven that the more friends in a teenagers car, the more distracted they get. Those teenagers who failed to stop at a stop sign almost cost my mom and I's life, I'm even shocked that the teenagers weren't injured themselves despite their vehicle flipping over. It could've been much worse, and I'm glad nobody died- but we very easily could've died. The odds were not in our favor at all but we made it out alive.
I was involved in a texting and driving accident in (2018) on my way to work and I wasn’t even supposed to live. The doctors were going to pronounce me dead when I got to the hospital. I wasn’t to lucky, I fractured my shoulder blade, lower spine, pelvis in 3 places, left hip and my knee was mangled. The women that hit me didn’t even check on me, didn’t come near me, didn’t hold my head up in the car. She was trying to drive off but she couldn’t because her car was all busted from the impact. She was only concerned about her car and continued to text message. She tried to get away in to blaming me for the accident and she wasn’t at all upset about what she did to me. The firefighters had to use the jaws of life to get me out of the car and I scared out of my mind to think what was going to happen next. I still have anger and hatred towards the women that hit me. If she had come up to check on me or at all concerned about me, I would of forgiven her for what she did. There’s no forgiveness for that. I am still blessed to be alive and to tell my story to people. The aftermath of the accident for me is still there . My left side is unbalanced, I will fall to the ground if I stand on my left side, the cold hurts, my left side is very week, I can’t lift over 36 pounds, I am very cluster phobic in tiny spaces, and my legs are clumsy. I have muscle and nerve damage due to the accident and I have frequent back aches. I used to be very athletic and was going to return to ice skating but I can’t do any of that because of the accident. Please watch this and take the oath to never text and drive because that text isn’t worth it.
That's terrible. How some people can be on the road. I replied because I'm an ice skater too. Been a USA Hockey referee for 14 years now. I would be devastated if I wasn't able to keep my balance anymore. I probably couldn't ever forgive the other lady either.
And that woman had the AUDACITY to try to drive off. I hope she got charged for this. Because there's no way that's acceptable. No remorse, all because of a stupid phone. $100-$1000 is apparently worth more than a life you could take because you're selfish and stupid. I hope you recover to the point you can walk properly again. And push more, maybe get back to ice skating! As a guitarist, I would hate to live life without my arms if I were the receiving or delivering end of drunk or text-ridden driving.

I was involved in an accident on May 29th I was looking up a the stats of a Ford F-150 on my phone when I crashed into a 2010 Chevy Equinox. I hit the car at 35-40 mph. There was a 1 year old child in the car. He was crying, the family sustained no injuries while my two legs were bruised. I was lucky to be alive as well as the family. From now onwards I will longer be driving the car while drive with a phone on hand.
I've got hit a few times by people texting and driving. Once or Twice when I was walking. And once sitting at a Stop Light 🚦 by a young kid who forgot to look up. And another time or two. But don't remember all the details any more. But still suffer from all the injuries.
I saw this ad when I was about 12 long before I could drive but this ad almost 8 years on scared me enough as a kid to not even so much as touch my phone while driving at almost 20. Guess the ad worked 😅
Yes. It is better to have one's day ruined with a ticket than to be dead. At least one is alive to be upset about it. If it's an important text, one should either pull out of the road and park, and/or have a passenger take your phone and read your text and answer it.
People need to understand that a text is not worth your life or the lives of those around you, it's shameful how much wisdom people lack these days. I think they should suspend the license of anyone who drives.

Not correct. In many areas, especially areas not as developed, there will be stop signs at intersections instead of traffic lights. Although I do believe that's dangerous and needs to change, as my severe car accident happened at a highway intersection where teenagers didn't stop at a stop sign. It's been an issue where I live, that intersection kills countless people because people don't pay attention to stop signs. It almost killed me. I believe that had there been traffic lights instead of a flimsy stop sign, maybe those teenagers would've actually stopped. It seems people obey traffic lights more often than stop signs, for whatever reason
You can die from impact easily. One hard whiplash (which can easily be done by being hit by a car typically over speeds of 50mph) can internally decapitate you, can cause internal bleeding, glass can deeply wound you to the point of bleeding out, the metal of the crushed car can crush you to death, there's countless ways you could die even without being hit by a truck or rolling out. All it takes is one hard blow

And don't expect the cops to enforce it because I've seen many of them texting and driving on the phone while I'm driving next to them we need to take charge of our own child's future When are we going to be smart enough to understand that's our children we are putting behind the wheel when we get their first car or they get their learner's permit and so on and so forth make it a law they cannot start driving unless their car is Bluetooth enabled that it could handle the incoming messages and everything and they don't have to take their eyes off the road for a split second because the same way it takes a split second to get pregnant it takes a split second to take away that life so please you guys make all these laws and all these rules make that an official law you're not able to drive at all until your car is Bluetooth enabled and that's the only way that you get to drive because if you leave it on the phone and you take your eyes off the road you're gone I don't care how many commercials you have they're not going to listen until it becomes a law how many more kids are we going to bury how many more families are going to cry we have smartphones so make smart decisions don't expect your child to be the one to do the smart decision they have to have some kind of Bluetooth device in their vehicle that listens to the messages and reads it out my phone every time a message comes in it tells me who's it from and what it says if it's an emergency they can pull over if not make it a rule you cannot get a cell phone until your first four years of driving by yourself and not getting into an accident you have to come home to be able to message anyone and watch how fast the cemeteries start being less filled with our children passed a message forward and God we trust one land and one nation under God God gave us our children let's not send them back in a rush delivery because of a stupid driving accident

Like if phones turned off automatically over the speed of 10mph she also could have been saved but we don't make commercials advocating for that while advocating for not texting and driving. It's not even an argument for cops to be around, they're just inserting cops as good with no argument as to why other solutions can't fix the problem in a less intrusive and expensive way.

If someone fails to yield, the party with the right of way (the truck) would have no time to react. You have less than a second to come to a full stop, which is impossible. If you're running past stop signs you can't expect someone to magically defy the laws of physics.. 🤦♂️
