I think this scene illustrates the depths of Lila's obsession with Norman as well as her own insanity.

I think Lila killed Josh as a means of placing Norman on the Sheriff's radar to get Norman arrested again. Also, in the scene where Josh gets murdered, the killer dressed up as Mother is way younger than Mrs. Spool and Mrs. Spool would never really kill anyone unless she knows or has witnessed Norman being antagonized by someone.
@shanefolan
@shanefolan 6 лет назад
Such irony here when lila says ''people don't change'' as lila had changed from the sympathetic heroine to an embittered battleaxe full of resentment and anger and mary changed from manipulating and deceptive to caring and honest.
@Xehanort10
@Xehanort10 6 лет назад
And as much as she hated Norman she treated Mary similarly to how Norma Bates treated Norman. Not caring whether innocent people got killed or even if her own daughter got killed if she drove Norman insane again as long as she got him recommitted showed that Lila was as crazy as she thought Norman was. She can't have been that sad about Marion's death since she took advantage of it to marry Sam. When Lila tells Sheriff Hunt that Sam's dead it was probably suicide because he got sick of Lila ranting and raving about Norman.
@yummylemons172
@yummylemons172 6 лет назад
@@Xehanort10 Well in defense of marrying Sam it's possible they fell for each other while they were grieving. I know about this from experience
@Shanethefilmmaker
@Shanethefilmmaker 6 лет назад
@@yummylemons172 While I hate what Lila has become in this movie, he did kill her sister. At the time of said murder, she only thought Marion had taken off with the money she stole. So she was living off the hope that her sister is still alive. She doesn't see Norman as a helpless lunatic, she sees him as a monster who used insanity as an excuse and it twisted her. Even after knowing the whole story, she can't let that go.
@kyleluna1
@kyleluna1 6 лет назад
@@Shanethefilmmaker Her death made sense also that she got what was coming for tormenting Norman in this sequel. I have to say she was annoying in Psycho II that makes her the real antagonist, her vengeance to torment Norman caused her nothing but her own life when she got her mouth jabbed with the knife by Mrs. Spool disguised as Norma.
@MagmaProductions1948
@MagmaProductions1948 5 лет назад
@@Shanethefilmmaker Honestly it's a matter of perspective. Sure Lila's no longer the victim but she's still portrayed as a woman whose lived with the knowledge that her sister was violently murdered while her killer (as far as she's aware) used insanity to escape true justice. And she's allowed it to twist her into the very thing she hates (if not worse) as she doesn't foresee or plan that her revenge would, quite literally, destroy her family. On the other, while he's without a doubt, a raving lunatic. Norman is portrayed as a man who deeply regrets what he did (maybe pushing it here but it technically wasn't his fault, as someone with a brother who once had one, I can tell you that split personalities are separate entities from the original) and honestly wants to make amends. And if it wasn't for Lila he wouldn't have reverted. On a side note, I think Mary was the best part of the movie. She's portrayed as a girl whose been manipulated into hating a man who just wants to live the rest of his life in peace. Then she starts having second thoughts and even, presumably, starts feeling affection for him. It was only when she learned that Norman had (presumably, as we learn he hadn't harmed a single person in the entire film) murdered her mother, that she tried to kill him in grief and rage. Only to be killed by police and take the fall for Emma's victims.

Psycho 2 movie is definitely an underrated sequel. I read the book psycho 2 and after reading the book, I think this movie version of Psycho 2 is so much better than the book. The movie has a better story and gives the characters Norman and Lila more purpose than it gave their characters in the psycho 2 book. In the book Lila is only in just one chapter. This movie version of psycho 2 felt like a true follow up to the original psycho story. This was a scenario of where the movie psycho 2 was better than the psycho 2 book by Bloch.

It interesting how In the original film, Norman was the villain or at least an antagonist and Lila was one of the good guys just trying to find her sister and in this movie Norman is protagonist just trying to fit back into society and Lila is basically the antagonistic character. it shows what has happened to them in the last 22 years since the Alfred Hitchcock film, he has grown to try to repent for all the wrong that he has done and try to be a good person and Lila has gone bitter and wants Norman to forever pay for the pain he caused her in murdering her sister. Lila in this film really shows how corrosive revenge can really be to a human being. It's great that they got Perkins and Miles back in these roles.
