This is a bite-sized piece of the more lengthy material that is available in the original source: • 2014 Personality Lectu... I am trying to contribute to and transform the original material by creating shorter, well-structured videos with clear titles, with the intention to make Jordan B Peterson's work more accessible and clear to an online audience.
Specifically in this video:
Repression - how people lie to themselves
They don't know what they are doing, but they did know when they started
Repression is similar to self-deceit
Repressed memories
Sigmund Freud
Manipulative people
Lies do people in

Stay away from manipulative people. They only look out for themselves. You are nothing... they ( themselves and their immediate family) are all. They hear you when you speak, but they are never really listen; what they say, in their mind, is what is important! Its no use discussing any matter. You'll never have a valid peer-to-peer conversation with such a person. My advice, just talk about the weather with such people, and even then! They question anything you may say; they suck the life spirit from you!

Exactly! This is my father. And in many ways, my mother is, too, but my father is a great manipulator twisting my words, deceiving, talking garbage behind my back while in my face saying 'I love you.'

One thing I heard that made sense, was to ONLY invest in others as they invest in you and base their value/contribution to your life based on that metric, & not their beauty, wealth, power, charisma, ect. As Toxic people who only take from your “Cup”, steal the emotional energy you will both need & want to give to those who fill one another’s “cups” for a mutually beneficial relationship, that elevated both of you. If the toxic person is such you cannot completely cut them out(ex: former partner who is parent to your child, your Boss/Co-Worker ect.), then minimize contact. As failing to cut these relationships from your life will intimately hurt you in multiple ways. It will leave you feeling drained, worn out, & more importantly at some point when your “cups empty” if not addressed it will leave those heathy relationships who do deserve you to fill their cup because they have earned it, neglected. This, over time if you no longer water a plant it will wither & die. Same with any friendship or romantic relationship. If you cannot water it bc you continue to allow holes poked in your water container, whether you want to or not, you’ll have nothing to give to those heathy people who matter, which slowly over time will leave you with little to nothing left to give to those who do matter & may result in them having to cut you out of their lived should you fail to address these issues over an extended period of time.

@@fook-joby-den6172I'd like to add the people that invest in you negatively. Don't invest in them and don't tell them anything. The manipulative person may be putting you down every chance they get, but when they don't know your plan they can't become a rock on your road. Their hobby is you. Their hobby is manipulating you, bothering you, fake helping you. Even if it's family or your own mother. Don't tell them anything so they can't destroy your life. Because they will show everyone what they think of you and people Co venientky think there must be truth to some of the opinions someone hold diver you and they show it in how badly they treat you. They teach everyone to treat you badly too. Be quiet and stay away from them.

You will always have a part of you that knows if you are doing something bad. Issue is some people lose connection with that part of them. I would say if you have a habit of being unconscious most of the day you will primarily be less aware. About being unconscious i noticed everyone has periods were they are not thinking and their mind is on autopilot. Say if you tried to stay conscious all day long it would be mentally exhausting. For example, i quit cigarettes one time cold turkey and i felt more conscious that usual after each tick i had i would wake up basically. Im not sure if this is something common but i for me this happened. I think the magic recipe is to try to stay consious as possible and i think smartphones have issue limiting our potential. Maybe bombardment of details could be one of the issues that makes us more unconscious as well because it might be a overload for our mind to process. So i think your issue is most likely mindfullness of yourself. Like for example if you never tried following a faith strongly you will never have practiced some sort of moral law that you take seriously to make it to a heaven or promise land of some kind. What im saying is theres a difference between morals and morals attached with a reality you believe telling you this is what you need to do or something bad will happen to you for eternity. So i will say thats a huge difference. Just suggestions for you, not saying anything bad.

I'm kind of going through this with a family member and I didn't realize they were truly like this until I basically got her hired at my job but the bad thing is it's super close family so i feel like I'm stuck between a rock and hard place because everyone else I feel doesn't see it but I do and it's like it started with some lies here and there like her lying about getting fired when in actuality she quit her other job (which if she thought it would gain her sympathy so id help her get a job like we're super close family id help her anyways like she didn't have to make up an elaborate lie ) and then I realized aww man this person is super gossipy too and she seems to (accidentally on purpose at times make out breaks time up with each other ) or like she'll be "watching" me at work or like the other day i was goin on lunch and someone dropped off some lunch for her at my front desk so i left it on the desk with a note for her and then i was goin up the stairs i heard someone behind me for some reason i knew it was her i acted like i didn't hear anyone behind me but i did it was like she was purposely walking soft to (i did this cus i noticed she didn't say hey whats im behind you or lets go to lunch but i stayed silent cus i wanted to see if she came around the corner then sure enough it was her when she finally came in its like she purposely delayed coming in the lunch room and acted surprised i was there when she knew i was there whole time cus she was behind me!!! its kinda creepy like wtf

It's tough when your father is manipulative person to your mother and you. He guilts and and humiliates me into submission since I was and infant. He loves deception and telling the rest of the family that he helps me and my mother with finances and emotional support. This is when he seems narcissistic in portraying himself as the hero and rescuer. He says I'm too sensitive, attacking him if I object to anything he says. To him, I'm manipulative and domineering if I say anything. He rules conversations and runs away when I logically contest any point at all. I'm tired of this. How do I defend without being an asshole? How do I define my boundaries, desires, and opinions without overstepping my place as his child? I'm just so tired.

@@christaylor1424 thank you- it’s regarding a handy man that took over 5 spaces on our property by promising to fix things but instead stores all of his junk (tools, equipment) in and around our private property, comes in and out as he pleases, talks to our tenants and pretends to be a “nice guy”, has keys to the space because he’s supposedly “working” but never finishes and it’s been 6 years! He even moved a mattress in and changed the locks on one of the units (that wasn’t livable of for rent) and would trespass, give us the runaround, hide behind my brother like a prostitute, lie about leaving, after he was told 4 times to do so. Has yet to empty out that space and the others. Typical malignant, manipulative sack of crap. He’s threatened me also. Yet my brother knows this allows this, stresses out about it yet does nothing to kick him out and he just takes advantage. He makes my blood boil with anger -it really bothers me. No one has the right to manipulate another. It is the ultimate act of arrogance for one to think they have the right to manipulate someone. Even God Himself does not violate one's free will by manipulating them. He gives us the freedom to make our own choices. So, no person or entity has that right and needs to be shut down immediately.

Talk about manipulation. How any Christian (law-maker) could think that had Jesus lived, he would have agreed with their interpretation of words in a bible, should be "beyond belief." From the book … Drop Dead: A Horrible History of Hanging in Canada, author … Lorna Poplak. Capital punishment, the execution of someone found guilty of a crime, dates back to arrival of the European explorers on our shores. In those days, if you were condemned to death, quite a wide range of methods could be used to punish you. You could be hanged, or face a firing squad, or be burned at the stake. Although Canada remained a collection of separate British colonies until Confederation in 1876, a Royal Proclamation in 1763 replaced the prevailing Canadian legal system with the laws of England. By the end of the 1700s in Britain, however, the litany of crimes regarded as sufficiently horrible to warrant the death penalty had swelled to 220, including nefarious acts as keeping company with gypsies or skulking in the dark with a blackened face. In 1828, Patrick Burgan of Saint John, New Brunswick, aged eighteen or nineteen, received the death penalty for the double offence of stealing a watch and some money from his former employer and clothing from a sailors’ boarding house. Given the power and pre-eminence of religion in Canada at that time, your very life would have been in jeopardy if you were caught scrawling slogans on the side of a church. You could also be hanged for stealing your neighbor’s cow, which was the fate of B. Clement of Montreal. And just in case you thought that the law protected the young as it does today, think again. Children were regarded as miniature adults and treated as such - Clement was only thirteen years old when executed.

I suggest that Jordan IS a manipulative person to those who are transgender. This is Jordan's idea (verbatim) ... “Gender identity and gender expression are not valid ideas. They are not true. There is no evidence for it. I don’t know what the options are, if you don’t identify as a man or a woman. There is an idea that there’s a gender section. I think that is an ill-informed opinion. Gender identity and sexual orientation are the same thing. I don’t believe these people, these terms, stand for good things. I think these people use these terms as a pretense that they stand for good things; as a pretense for them to carry on their nefarious activities.” And this is my idea concerning the subject. If you told me that you were transsexual, I would simply say "Oh, well please tell me all about what that means from 'your' experience." I would NOT say, "Because I say so, there isn't any such condition as being transgender," as that would be very manipulative on my part. Don't you agree?

He's right about who he is specifically talking about in that context. He had lots of patients and study cases that were that way and usually only seek validation of their beliefs about gender and identity from scientists/scientific community. And also he did go your way, in figuring out what the person coming with that type of problematic means specifically and their experience. The thing is there is neurological evidence, behavioral evidence, biochemical or endocrinological evidence for sex oriented gender identity. Its undeniable and it is, as all communities of objects and organisms, trends and probabilities. So high it's almost always true. But the only relevant cases that actually points otherwise are rare cases of disease, wether intersex from genetic or environmental conditions, low activity in regions of the brain that is atypical for "normal" or healthy behavior (healthy means non destructive to self and others, in a long term capacity). Thats why he insists on trans and overall lgbtq people to go see a clinical psychiatrist with a background in hardcore science, and not your typical psychologist or therapist with only philosophy and humanities in mind. Because trans people are the only ones that are at risk of harming themselves legally and supported by a whole system designed to only rip them off, and doesn't care about their health in the slightest. Also no, he is not manipulative, you can tell over years of exposure to the world, he genuinely believes and verifies what he says. It doesn't mean he's right, but he is speaking "his truth" (I hate syaing that, but you know what I mean) as clearly and honestly as he can.

@@mennehgambia1962 So ... you are an anti-transsexual Christian also? What does that prove, other than that you agree with Jordan, because in that regard you have the same "mentality." Other psychologists disagree with Jordan's so-called therapy. Do you know that there are still Christian ministers who USE their bibles to state for a fact that it is GOD that wants homosexuals put to death? Do you agree with bible-thumping idiot? Protestant preacher wants the government to put homosexuals to death ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UbSM_kxpObc.html

@@mennehgambia1962 And are you aware that Jordan Peterson is best of buddies with Dave Rubin, who is a married homosexual? Jordan is a bible using hypocrite, as are all bible-using hypocrites. Don't get me wrong. I support homosexual marriage, and adoption by homosexuals. And I also support transsexuals (as adults) to do with their own bodies that they think will make them feel better concerning their own experiences. Even when I was still under the spell of religion, I never used a book as being any word from a god. It took men to write those books, and they did it by re-lying on their own untrustworthy imaginations.

@@mennehgambia1962 This is what happened when Christians USED the bible, to create laws on earth. From the book … Drop Dead: A Horrible History of Hanging in Canada, author … Lorna Poplak.
