It is a false history created by the Meiteis in Wikipedia. Meieis and Nagas came only 200 years ago from Burma. Before them Bengali speaking Vishnupriyas used to be in Manipur but Meiteis expelled them in 1980s and they live as refugees in Tripura. Bengali used to be the official language under the Maharajas for at least 400 years. Meiteis, Naga, Mizo, Khasi, Jayantiya, Koch, Kachari, Ahoms all came from China. They are not the original people of the North East. Meitei and Naga languages have no scripts; these are tribal spoken language. Thus, they have no recorded history more than 2000 years old; these are all made up very recently as the Ahoms also made up the history of Assam.
