Outer Manipur MP Alfred Kanngam S. Arthur addressed Parliament on Tuesday during the budget session, expressing strong criticism of the central government's handling of the Manipur crisis. Arthur questioned why the state continues to suffer after 15 months and why justice has been denied to its people. He accused Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh of inciting disharmony and hatred, calling for his replacement to restore peace in the state. Arthur also questioned why no Union Minister has visited Manipur since 2023 and why the Prime Minister has yet to visit since the crisis began. He poignantly asked if the Prime Minister could not hear the cries of the state's children and women. Additionally, Alfred criticized Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, describing the budget as anti-people. He claimed it neglected Manipur, which is grappling with conflict, high inflation, and unprecedented floods.
