Early in his career, he did a lecture on "The Sex Problem" and many times spoke about conserving resources of energy. In a pamphlet "Talks to Students", he suggests that a true spiritual teacher should practice abstinence, but that might have been to warn against being a cult of personality and having relations with one's followers.
