A poor man's mod of the Manly wasp to turn it from a heroically strong two hand 5-point action to a smooth, one hand 2 point action.
This took about 1 hour all in all.
I am not safe or professional and doing this will void any warranty you had, that's it, that's your warning.

thanks... i modified mine before seeing this... i did a decent job taking a little from both the spring and the blade... also dropped the stop pin from mine and set it so that the blade closed above the g10 then brought it down bit by bit until i got it where i wanted... i have a little resistance at around 50% which is fine by me as the 25 and 75 are completely gone... overall, a much better knife now that its one handed opening... in hindsight, i would have focused more on the blade and a little less on the spring as my spring sits lower than the back of the blade... purely visual as it works great... no back and forth wobble which was a worry i had...

Excellent to hear, did you have the same "am I about to ruin £50" worry in the back of your mind as on my first knife? But agreed, this one was too stiff for my tastes by far.

@@UKLegalCarryKnives there was indeed that thought, but i just took little by little each time until I was happy with the action... worked out fine in the end luckily... if i had messed it up, i would have probably spent £30 odd quid on the 12c27 version and used the parts from that to get mine working better so i was happy to experiment... overall, it turned out pretty much exactly how i wanted it

Also good if you just want to get rid of the stops!

Well done! Mine is the S90V Digicam and the incomprehensible multiplicity of stops is its only downside - apart from its name Manly emblazoned on the pocket clip. I mean, really, it might just as well say Big Dick. I've since discovered they're not being total tools in Romania as Manly is a translation of the company's family name apparently. So I just removed the clip and Manly were good enough to send me a free blanking plate. It would be great if it had just the three-quarter stop, but you can't have everything I suppose. Beast of a knife which pisses all over our imbecilic UK knife laws which is another reason I like it so much.

Yeah I wasn't a fan of the 'big dick' 😂 on the clip either, still though as you say, excellent knife especially for us here.

I’ll follow your guys recommendation and not follow your practice. I like these knives and that raised a little tear 😢, but they’re your knives, so I’ll not try to stop you!

Personally can't stand the stock action, I dislike a single half stop let alone a 1/4 and 3/4 stop, these would have never been used as is, but the materials and price are good enough to warrant modifying. Works like a charm for me now.

There is an issue with half stops, and especially those with stronger springs. When you start to lose them, they spring sharply to 90°, and, if you’re not careful, it can slam in to your index finger. I cut myself quite deeply with my JE Made knife! Generally, I’m OK without a half stop. The Enzo PK70s stop at more like 75 or 80°, which is much better.

Great vid. Any idea who might do this mod professionally in the UK? Cheers

Ugh... After my thumb suffered so much from opening this knife with the thumb stud with all the stops intact and an especially gritty action from the factory I might as well try this, thx :D

@@UKLegalCarryKnives just realised my dremel was broke, so just ordered a £40 dremel to fix a £50 knife I don't really carry haha, out of interest any good friction folders at a reasonable cost you can reccomend got a boker the other day and just don't trust it as there is no finger choil underneath and you put me off the tops razor already something in the 30 - 200 range?

@@halfbaked3373 a pricey mod to be sure! The only FFs that leap to mind would be an EOS prawn, kizer wpk, maybe the qtrmstr barney mcgrew if the style appeals, they're somewhat uncommon though.

@@UKLegalCarryKnives thanks for quick reply, the wpk looks right up my street looks safe with the choil underneath prawn looks cool but that sure is some expensive d2 thanks gonna give the wpk ago. I love kizer just such a shame we can't buy their flipper sober here wanted a sheepdog for sooo long

@@halfbaked3373 yeah, the law change last year realy put a damper on a lot of cool designs, jusst had a friend get a CRKT M16 confiscated at customs for being a flipper knife :(

Are you doing this mod because it has a very strong back spring?
@UKLegalCarryKnives
@UKLegalCarryKnives 3 года назад
It's that and the number of stops as you open was annoying to me.
