I'm so going to get it. Man. This game gives me some grand ideas how to start from one city in one tiny region, to conquer said tiny region, which unlocks a world map of sorts that then begins a Total War style of gameplay. Could it work? Hell I don't know. I guess it could work, but it's hard. As all things.

I think the best game I've played that conveys what's needed in the city in an immersive way was Crusader, idk how many time's I've heard "needs more wood me lord" or "food stocks are growing ma lord" I think it would be amazing if there was an npc in each town that you would have to walk up to and ask what is needed.

The ability to change graphics settings in game is something I can really get behind.

"Just One Dev" - not true. There were a lot of contractors that worked on this and I'm tired of hearing it repeated across RU-vid. A 3D project of this scale couldn't be accomplished by a single person. Really looking forward to this one!

Sounds like it's not the textbook defnation of perfect but man is it what people think of when they hear perfect game... Which I hope they would add just combat or even a mount and blade type mode where you are a knight company leader tasked with fighting for the manor lords.

yeah logistics communication is an issue i have found in other city builder strategy game i wish they told you the reason something isn't happening like no resources lack of workers etc.

I think there's going to be an even bigger issue with it, but I haven't figured out exactly how to describe it... It's essentially an "Escalation" problem. It's not just that you hit the end of the "tech tree" too early either, although that's a symptom of it. It's like a pacing problem where every obstacle and challenge that could happen... all happen a few hours in, and the in game Events just have no "Mutators" to them. All of the challenge in the game comes from not being able to understand what's happening beneath the UI, instead of from *having your decisions matter* and thus being able to "Explore" different efficacies.

This is such an interesting game, created with passion and the idea of just 1 guy. If this is gonna be the way of developing new ambitious projects… then im ready for the ride.

from the videos so far its a game for a single playthrough. hopefully it gets updates and mod support soon after release. The base game is amazing tho so there is foundation to build on.

I'm one of those 3M people who have this game on their Wishlist. The visual elements of this remind me of Ostrive, I was so addicted to watching people construct those buildings beam by beam and wall by wall. I tried to play Banished but I struggled to stick with the game long enough to master the resources properly, I got frustrated with it and walked away. Each time i tried to pick it up again i had to start from step one. Although a different game, I really fell in love with Dawn of Man, my main issue with that was the pathfinding for my villagers.

I wish Totalbiscuit had seen this :(

It's early access, so it seems to be worthy of a full review when it is finally released.

Pls try Perimeter rts. Its pld and buggy but have interesting concept.

Solo developer is a bit of a stretch... A *lot* of the development was outsourced.

The games in early launch and I still lost 5 hours playing in the first session. After that I bought it too( hehe yes.) its too good to lose on it and not support. Plus when mods pop up, steam is gonna go full on.

Good review. That said, of course it is not going to be perfect, it’s Early Access. Things will be missing and subject to change.

I think almost every game should explain its game mechanics to help the player understand why and how it needs to do. I say this as a video game developer.

This is closer to Anno than to Total War.
