Manson Murders Helter Skelter Getaway Car up close - Scott Michaels Dearly Departed
I'm Scott Michaels - thanks for watching. I own Dearly Departed Tours in Hollywood and the original Celebrity Death webpage, Findadeath. I've been doing this for 25 years - my collection of one-of-a-kind death related artifacts includes the legendary Jayne Mansfield Death Car.

This is the 1959 Ford that was driven by Tex Watson and Charles Manson on the two nights of the Tate Labianca Murders in August of 1969. This is the very same car used in the film Helter Skelter in 1976. Quentin Tarantino made an exact duplicate for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

Okay, after seeing where the keys go on this car (left side of steering wheel), it now makes sense to me how/why homeowner Rudolf Weber tried to grab the keys out of the car when Tex/Susan/Pat/Linda stopped at his home to use a water hose, after the Tate killings. I learned to drive in the '70s, never drove a '50s auto, and always pictured the keys going on the steering column/right side. Could not imagine the acrobatics of anyone trying to grab them from that position. Great job on the Dearly Departed videos and info. ( I had the honor of eating a late dinner at El Coyote when I was a film student and tried to tell my fellow students about the Tate party dining there in Aug. '69 - but it was totally bonkers to be a Manson trivia-aficionado in 1981. I received only stares and eye-rolls.)

Most people are so consumed by their own issues, they don't have time or even take time to keep up with current events. Let alone serious history. I talk to people daily that current events go over their head....so it doesn't surprise me the reaction you had from others! Most people don't even know anything about WW2, the Kennedy assassination, Ronald Regan getting shot, John Lennon's death. The list goes on and on. I talked to a gentleman the other day that said quote "Biden needs to get off his ass and get our troops out of Ukraine!" I just stared, I thought to myself....shut up! Your so ignorant about the world around you, go live in Russia! Ugh! Also I ran into someone who didn't know who Lisa Marie Presley was??? Huh, I don't get it!

The El Coyote thing was just a rumor, and Scott Michaels does a deep dive into that in one of his videos. The rumor that Sharon Tate & friends had dinner at El Coyote that evening has been disputed. All of the El Coyote employees, waitstaff, and customers who were there that evening say they didn't see Sharon Tate & friends there that evening.

It wouldn't be too expensive to rebuild the original engine, trans if needed to get it running. Being a So Cal car it's entire life, frame rust you'd think would be minimal. Physical evidence and lots of corroborating testimony say they got the killers. The motivations, coming from drug addled hippies and a conman could be all over the map, like Bobby Beausoleil didn't kill Hinman because look at these similar killings. Or Roman and Voytek were dealing drugs, which it appears they were according to FBI documents, or Melcher had to be sent a message, even though he no longer lived at Cielo. Hell, Charlie could've wanted to BF Mark Lindsay from Paul Revere and the Raiders, or go on a date with Candace Bergen, Melcher's GF, or any other kooky theory. Facts is, Charlie was a career criminal conman with superior manipulation skills, honed on the inside, and started in McMechen, W. Va. It was a sign of the times that the youth were looking to be led, and these 2 dozen or so followers embraced the commune lifestyle, and then did as they were directed. Hell, half the country today believes anything they are told by the MSM, Democrats, and other progressives in schools and colleges who love Marx, Castro, Mao, Stalin, Che', etc. If people don't believe in and embrace individual rights, then they're ripe for the picking... .....change my mind.

That was ranch hand Johnny Swartz's car. He drove it from Colorado. The California plates were taken from a Fairlane at the Ranch. Am I correct? I covered the trial for two months in May-June 1970 for the Daily Collegian. We saw it with other impounded cars taken in the August 1969 raid. George and Ruby were desperate for cash by Spring 1970 just to feed the remaining horses. Paying riders dropped off because of the association of Spahn ranch to the murders and the fact that the remnants of the Family were still living there...totally delusional I might add. They really believed that Charley and the rest would be found NG!!!. George let Ruby sell western props at the end of May. I purchased prop guns,ammo,holsters, blacksmith leather vest and tools. I also have discarded Mail to SpahnMovie Ranch. Hard to sell. I even tried to fund the first Victim/Witness Advocacy program in the Plymouth County District Attorneys Office in Massachusetts but bad vibes in 1978

After watching the Jordan the Lion video on Charles Manson, I found your channel and listened to your interview with Virginia Graham from 2 years ago. I was very impressed with your interviewing skills (apologies if you have a background in this area and this sounds patronizing). It is such a treat to listen to a skilled interviewer - asking well-articulated questions, pulling out interesting answers, throrough knowledge of the topic and the book she wrote, allowing her to answer her questions fully, not interrupting, knowing when to let the interviewee go down different avenues and when to lead her back, not rushing because of commercials, etc. I'm not terribly into death topics, but you are so skilled, I will probably listen to your other interviews. I hope you get into the interviewing arena more. Good job.

How was this verified as the car they drove to the Tate or Labianca murders
@TarheelTad64
@TarheelTad64 2 года назад
At the time of the killings the Galaxie was owned by ranch hand John Swartz. In a raid of Spahn Ranch August 16, 1969, 19 vehicles were confiscated. One of them was a 1959 Ford Galaxie. All of the vehicles were impounded by Howard Sommers Towing in Canoga Park, California. The “hold” placed on the Galaxie lasted through the trial which concluded in 1971. until 1973 that Sommers through a lien sale acquired a title to the car. He essentially sold it to himself. Soon after he tried to sell it through the Van Nuys News want ads but found no takers. By 1975 Sommers again tried to sell it. This time it appreared at a classic car auction in Orange County, California. The highest bid was a “no sale” at $3,000. Sommers kept the car until it was sold in the mid-2000s. The buyer is the current owner.

Linda Kasabian drove the car both night's. The second night, Charlie accompanied them-he and Tex tied up the LaBianca's. Then, he, Kasabian, Clem and Krenwinkle left Tex, Van Houten and Atlkins at the LaBianca house to kill them, and eventually hitch hike back to Spahn Ranch. Tex was a mass murderer, literally having a hand in the killings of 7 of the 8 that died those two nights. Can you name the one person that he didn't have a hand in killing those two nights?

REMMY MAFIA Krenwinkle, Watson and Van Houten were left at the LaBianca’s. Atkins went with Charlie and Kasabian. Charlie wanted Kasabian to kill someone she knew but she purposefully went to the wrong house to spare the victim.
@rickyparker4436

Your mistaken about the second night. It was Tex watson Patricia Krenwinkle and Leslie van Houten who went to the Labiancas house. And Tex Watson killed both. Patricia Krenwinkle and Leslie Van Houten tried to hold Rosemary down but she fought so hard that Leslie gave up and ran out of the room. Patricia called out to Tex to help her and he had just finished stabbing Leno in the living room. He then stabbed Rosemary to death. Patricia then went into the living room and carved WAR in Lenos stomach then stabbed him with a fork. Tex then found Leslie and made her stab Rosemary About 15 to 17 times. But she was already dead. That's what happened.
