You can see the ruins from the Qu’s invasion: the high pillars are probably probably the air defense used against the Qu’s spacecraft, the larger ruin is probably a warship that belonged to the Qu or the Star People. The stone with the Star People and the one with the Mantelope symbols on them are probably a work by the mantelopes, that show us they can use basic tools but no further than that, and they didnt forgot their heritage. The Qu statue is probably a Qu’s work, after they have won the war. The statue is covered by feces from the mantelops, that symbolizes their pure hate for what the Qu has done to them. The shackles near the statue were placed by the mantelops, symbolizes their prison type of body they are locked, within it,because of the Qu’s work.
"The mantalopes were bred to be singers and memory retainers for the Qu, so they had fully human minds. They understood the world around them, but in the bodies of grazing herd animals they were powerless to change anything. So for centuries, mournful herds roamed the plains, singing songs of separation and loss. They created whole religions and oral traditions around their grief and frustration until gradually, mercifully, their agony faded. Because, evolutionarily, a stupid, simple-minded mantelope survives as well or better than a conscious, sad mantelope. So within a hundred-thousand years, this melancholy world fell silent. Human minds aren't sacred to evolution, and soon, only animals remained"
I curse the Qu for what they did to the Star People, those of the latter who became the Mantelopes were a kind and gentle people who deserved better. Still, if I were a Qu, I'd be fond of the Mantelopes and would have wanted to see them taken with my people as they're so lovely and graceful in body and mind.
@@Gunplabro that's not even nihilism lmao what about "in the end, their pain went away with their intelligence, leaving only the body" even slightly resembles nihilism or being nihilistic lmao and what the hell is with the weird punctuation either i wish i could downvote this and have it actually remove the evidence of the goobers that saw this and said "i agree brrfhdddrrrr"
@@iMajoraGaming It's not so much nihilism in of itself, but it appeals to that sensibility. The degradation of sentience is one element, as the once-complex minds of the mantelopes fall to practically nothing. The reasons why it happens is due to unfeeling, amoral forces (natural selection/evolution) that inextricably change the mantelopes' existence into something that most humans nowadays would consider meaningless.
@Dunkus Funkus this is from all tomorrows, the mantelopes were very intelligent, more so than humans, but they couldnt pass it on because of their bodies
The part where they’re reminiscing over their former human selves is chilling and absolutely heart breaking. You completely outdone yourself with this animation.
They sing the sings, maybe as mating calls, as signals for incoming predators, as signals for the rputes that should be taken by the herd or even as mournings for their dead. The Mantelopes will still retain the knowledge of their ancestors that had relevance to their environment, and make songs about them. Songs for entertainment, songs for mourning, songs for an oncoming storm brewing on the horizon, while some songs would have lost their meaning over time, they have also gained new ones according to the context of their living conditions.

Animals can learn many things with minimal intelligence. Birds learn songs from other birds and even other animals, so even as Mantelopes lost intelligence, they may have passed these songs down without realising... changing slightly every generation
Imagine the morning that a Mantelope awakens and sings her song to the sky. Only for no one to respond. Again and again she hums her tune into the air, begging, _pleading_ for a response, but none comes. She is the last sentient Mantelope, and spends her final days screaming in beautiful chords to the sky, cursing all that has made her and her people this way.
Actually something similar happened in reap life with a bird species. The Kauaʻi ʻōʻō used to sing to attract mates, and this bird went extinct, you can find on RU-vid the last male song, singing for a mate that will never come.
The animations are obviously incredible, but this guy doesn't get enough credit for his sound design. Every animation he makes also has original and beautiful sounds.
I feel like the way that the Qu transformed and mutated the Star People is sorta how we breed dogs and animals for entertainment and style. Kinda makes me think of how unfortunate pugs are
Fortunately we are learning a lot about how to responsibly take care of animals with responsible breeding practices and different views of what intelligence means.
Could you imagine how incredible the symbolism would be if, despite the fact that their forms are different, all of the human species share one common human trait and that is they cry when they mourn?
This honestly made me tear up a little bit You captured the mourning songs and despair of the Mantelopes so well, especially showing the flashing between the human eye and the Mantelope eye and the human shadow on the ground besides the Mantelope at the end, really showing the human trapped inside I never thought I'd cry over one of these animations but here I am
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who actually felt tears in my eyes a little bit from this. Seeing it executed beyond a meme really gives you a gut punch man
@@hazmat4629 i leave my house everyday to work in the middle of the pandemic and this still made me tear up. the understanding of loss is still a universal thing.
I think the mantelopes are by far the most tragic of all post humans. The colonials are a close second, but at least they managed to evolve back into a civilization (a utopia at that). For these poor post humans, there was no hope other than the fact that subsequent, dumber generations would have no idea what they lost.
Begging and mourning until they die. Can't help but feel that it's kinda their fault that they de-evolved. Nonetheless there is beauty in their sadness.
Titans as well, they eventually form their own civilization and cultures despite being an elephants with human intelligence, but they're wiped out entirely by ice age.
@@channe3049 Imagine if we had the evolved Titans when the gravitals came. Those fuckers must have been strong, so if we suited them up with some high tech they could have won.
I actually believe they’re the saddest. At least the colonials broke free from the shackles of their limitations. The Mantelopes didn’t. They basically committed intellectual suicide.
@@traumatisedcommentary9177 probably the willful dumbing down of one self or society voluntarily. in the mantelops case, they chose to dumb themselves to not remember their past and feel sad/depressed.
Their only available instrument to play is their voices They are more inteligent than us So their only musical expresion would be song with choirs that represents their suffer. And that's what this video makes you feel
iirc they had like, vestigial fingers, along with the one single finger they walk on maybe they were usable enough to handle the tools they sculpted that rock with, so makes me wonder if in some alternate timeline they could make their way to civilization and play instruments
Previous Videos feels like nature documentary. This one is more like a fever dream. But it makes me feel the pain of the Mantelope. Its like they remember being human but they have no power to escape their body. They are stuck in the endless cycle of singing and remembering the past. It is fitting for them to lose their human consiousness as they evolve. Sad but that is how evolution works. Beautiful, sad and creepy. Love your videos. It keeps getting better and better.
@@markperalta7722 It's a good message showing two circumstances of people, one arguably worse , that pulled through (What did the Colonial say to the moping Mantelope? "Bitch, PLEASE!") and made a better lives for themselves out of better attitudes. But it might be more complicated. The colonials did pray for extinction when the Qu left but of the Qu's twisted sense of justice and apparent sadism, they could have engineered the genetics of the colonials brains to be so dominant, they would maintain sentience and intelligent regardless of how many generations go by to ensure an eternity of agony from their helpless sunbaked forms -- like the opposite of the lizard herders who were engineered to be dumb regardless of any evolution.
Both the mantelopes and colonials were human minds trapped in nonhuman bodies, but while the story of the colonials is a story of determination and hope against all odds, the story of the mantelopes is a sad tale about accepting defeat.
I like how instead of making their song sound like a real earthly mammal you gave them these almost birdlike ghostly voices that symbolise their hidden intelligence.
The Mantelopes. A name befitting of who they are. Men trapped in the imbalanced bodies of a grazing herd animal. They sway from side to side, not completely balanced in their new form. As they gather together over the plains and groves of their planet, a landscape dotted with art, relics, and artifacts of the past, they sing as they would have when they were fully man. Their voices sing of sorrow and pain for what they had become, a longing to return to the life they once lived with the full knowledge that such a life is impossible to obtain now. Yet still they sing, for in doing so, they reconnect once more with the humans they used to be.
It's so melancholic. The sadness hits hard when you realise extinction/death was a mercy to them. To have all the brilliance of human mind but no means to express that. To feel all the human emotions sympathy, love, longing yet unable tell another soul. That hauntingly beautiful and heartbreakingly sorrowful melody is just on another level. Fabulous job done by the artist.
They didn’t go extinct. They just lost their sentience because a stupid, simple minded animal has a better life than a conscious, sad one. The human mind isn’t sacred to evolution. It was given to us, and it can be taken.
Do you guys ever wander of C.M. Koseman watches these and feel the pure awe from seeing his work "alive" like this? Man, if i was an author and my works had a community this dedicated, i'd be a happy man for my whole life
Yes he does. He actually commented on the Temptors mating animation and said he felt grateful and touched to see his work come to life. I saw his comment on the alt X video, a video ranking sex appeal of all the AT characters(yes that exists) and a meme video of gravitals inspecting one of the post humans.
To think all tomorrows existed for 15+ years and is NOW that we have high quality fanwork, is really impressive to see the impact a big youtuber can have to revive an IP.
Yeah, the sad part is there isn't any continuation to the story. They already mentioned that the aesteromorphs went to another galaxy and eventually got their vengeance against the Qu. Itd be interesting to see how humanity treated the Qu
Man, this gave me some really weird and strong emotions. Everything surrounding the fate humanity faced because of the Qu and after they left... How everyone was morphed into these creatures used purely as playthings by the Qu. And yet... despite all that... they still had their humanity. The mantelopes probably had one of the saddest fates out of all of them, and their song shows the sorrow they felt. This video, the music, its symbolism, and the final shot... they just radiate the energy of humanity and the message of "we're still here". Absolutely beautiful, yet sad as well. Bravo.
That was the deeper meaning behind all tomorrows and how, despite looking different from each other, they still had their humanity left, virtues and flaws
In All Other Tomorrows, the Asteromorphs get to find the Mantelopes and they become fascinated by their mental power and their capability to remember tons of information, so they start to work together and the Mantelopes end up evolving into a super-computer like race.
the shadow the mantilope made at the end makes a normal human figure, that is such a great attention on details tha animation of this video is already amazing, but the sounds and the mantilope song is incredible as well
The only problem with this is that there really wouldn't be a way to fit the whole story into a movie runtime. Like maybe you could focus on a single event, but you wouldn't get the whole picture. The only way I see an adaptation working is as a sort of mock-umentary that spans multiple episodes, since the story is already written from the POV of a historian anyways.
I really like how the other ones felt more like a documentary while this one just outright shows the depressing world of the mantelopes; their daily life of mournful singing and reminiscing about their former human self.
I honestly love this future of humanity stuff, it's one of the reasons why Adventure Time is my favorite show of all time. In that show humans get mutated by a nuclear bomb but they don't even resemble humans after their mutation, but in All Tomorrows you can definitely tell just by the design that these things were humans at some point (also how fitting that the abbreviation for both Adventure Time and All Tomorrows is AT lmao)
I think one of the reasons why I watched Adventure Time even though it's a cartoon show is because I lament the fact that almost all the creatures were certainly used to be humans but still couldn't pity them at the same time because they enjoy the times of their lives. Funny yet condescending that the only way for humanity to escape grieve towards their own evolutionary demise is by accepting them as their new identities.
@@ozenthelewdable5427 What more sad is that despite everything they all disappear just like All Tomorrow's humans we not even sure if there any humans left in the far future after the Candy Kingdom went into a hibernation preserve pods Guardians. @@Thunderblock7889 in the lore of All Tomorrows they were humans, but then were twisted into this creatures with human consciousness by the superior aliens named Qu
This is no longer a meme. This is art. A fitting piece for the species of man who mourn the loss of their humanity. They are human minds forever trapped in inhuman bodies.
I think the saddest part is that after a few hundred thousand years their minds devolved to become less sentient, partially put of their own will. These humans no longer wanted to suffer thinking of who they were and how they should have been.
“Mournful yet so full of beauty, dream well and remember easy. Your suffering is over my dear graceful mammal. Do not dare think on your past, think upon the endless grasses and clear skies echoing your peoples songs of sorrow and hope arising. Remember the Mantalopes, lost and disgraced by time.”
Holy crap, this looks amazing. I never would have imagines the mantelopes sounding like that. I thought it would be a bit creepy because that's just how i see the mantelopes in general but you really made justice to the sad aura that surrounds their story and their lives. Amazing work as always
The structures in the background, rotting away and becoming a part of the terrain is truly terrifying. It’s depressing, like, imagine having all your efforts be for naught when you’ve made it so far as a collective species. You’ve terraformed worlds, formed colonies, and then made galactic-scale weapons of war to protect your world and species, only to be swiftly defeated without a fair fight. Unable to defend yourself, you, your defendants and everything around you is manipulated by how these galactic nomads see fit and you’re unable to do anything about it. Hopeless, and to make it worse, these monsters forced your lineage to remember these horrific tales for the sick amusement of the gods. Truly a terrifying, but it’s amazing how all of this can be captured from the video alone. That’s my two cents on it. It looks phenomenal!
@@SatchelChannelyeah, imagine being a surviving star person hiding in the asteroid just watching all of humanity be turned into these animals through high-tech cameras.
1:42 that scene is terrifying, yet incredible. to think that once this human had a life, feelings for his family, for someone this person loved, dreams to make come true, probably had amazing moments in his life, and then he sees himself trapped into a body that was not his own. It really made me think and feel something! this video is a masterpiece, obviously your best.
The Qu has already left at this point so this individual was never human, just descended from them. They remember their sorrow through oral tradition, as they were designed to do
Imagine if there was another species of animal that evolve along with the mantelopes, and they did that through copying and absorbing their language, and while the mantelopes' human intelligence wanes in favor of more animalistic behaviors, these creatures gain their own sentience. I would like to call these the Tall-Talers, avian like creatures who adopted the mantelopes language and whose culture centered around telling epic (tho slightly butchered) tales of tragedy and nihilism, about a civilization that they themselves, don't believe to actually exist. And because of this, they stayed under the radar of other post-humans and evaded the scourge of the gravitals.
i think the mantelopes have been nerfed by the author. Despite not having opposable thumbs there's no reason they wouldn't us their intelligence to find a work around, like domesticating animals that were better than them at fine manipulation and directing them with their hypnotic songs or something like that.
Your videos are doing so well A Brazilian channel is making an "All Tomorrows" series and using some of your videos as some demonstrations of the species (don't worry, he's crediting you). Honestly Its indiscriminately how amazing your works are
This was an out of body experience. Like imagine that guy on in that one spongebob episode that becomes three of himself for some mystical stuff, but instead of a joke it's in a fully serous manner, and you have about what I feel from this video. Outstanding job!
1:53 is what disturbs me the most. The mantelopes know that they used to be human and they'll never be human again, and there's nothing they can do about it
With everyone making memes about all tomorrows (not that I hate them it’s just sad that it’s mostly a meme to a lot of people) your videos are truly a gift. I’m always amazed by the quality of your uploads
^^^^^^ Well said. I honestly don't understand why there are memes of this when it is already such a serious and rather bleak story. But I guess that's just how some people express their admiration and love for this.
@@InsaneGold That's how most fandoms work. Take Warhammer 40k for example, it is one of the darkest Sci-fis out there but it won't t stop their fans in making funny jokes about certain aspects of the work. Peharps it is a representation of human nature in trying to find a good thing in the the tragedy. That does not mean, however, that they don't like the work in question.
The scene where it shows the Qu statue both breaks my heart and sickens me; just to think of how you cannot return to what you remember, and knowing that what did this to you is still out there quite possibly inflicting the same tragedies to other species, and you can do nothing about it but sing… completely haunting.
Remember that even if they eventually came to forget everything and follow their own path in evolution as mere animals, they somehow still retained their songs as primal cries, with their meaning forgotten but in a way untouched.
You're the only person I know who makes really good 3D all tomorrows animations. I especially love the unique sounds you make and how fitting they are with the species. They always blow my mind so when I saw this was about the mantalopes I knew it was going to be damn near impossible for any single person to out do it. But this was the first one to blow me away with the animation as the sound did. Not only was I not expecting how long it was going to be, but also how open and large everything was. The massive hills, towering structures, and even the clouds were absurdly impressive and the lighting somehow made this animation even better. I've always been a sucker for lighting, and the way it passes through a mantalope's hair and illuminates their obviously human skin looks absolutely incredible, as well as how the light interacts with everything else. The clouds with the open fields and mysterious skyscrapers was already impressive enough, but the way the light was just behind the clouds and how it gave everything a soft glow was phenomenal. I'm also a sucker for settings exactly like this so at this point I have already cumded my pants, but the way you presented them as still human was the butter on the croissant
I hear the sound escaping as an echo Sloping off the ceiling at an angle When the voices blend they sound like angels But when I lift my voice up now to reach them The range is too high way up in heaven So I hold my tongue, forget the song grit my hooves, start walking off And try to just keep moving on With my broken heart and my absent god And I have no faith but it's all I want To be loved And believe In my soul, in my soul
It is harrowing. These are arguably the saddest creatures from the book. But with sadness comes great beauty. The song is beyond what I could of imagined. Which makes it so perfect! Much respect for doing it justice.
The flashing of the human eyes with the eyes of the mantelope was heart-wrenching and beautiful. I can’t wait for the author to see this. Excellent work, truly well done.
This is absolutely incredible. It truly captures both the awe of a new world with new life and the solemn context of an abandoned species mourning over the loss of their humanity.
Here stood the Mantelopes. They didn't finish the journey, but took the first steps so we could find our destination. We will remember them because they no longer can.
Thi is by far, the most beautiful video you've made so far, i mean there isn't really a comparison seeing that the majority don't pass the 30 seconds, but still. Awesome work and the parts with the human shadow and the eye are just... Painfully and depressingly good. The only "bad" thing I have to say is that I'm not sure how accurate the eyes are, in the ilustration I'm certain it was a normal human eye (though your version makes more sense in an evolutionary way), but it's overshadowed by the good things in this animation.
I was expecting a 10-30 second video but instead got 2 minutes of perfection. You've done a great deed for many of us who love basking in the dark and bleak future known as All Tomorrows. Im sure you'll hear this a lot but thank you so much
The Mantelopes are quite beautiful inside and out and sing like angels. I wish there was some way that they could've been helped to retain their intelligence and form a new civilization as well as give them a set of limbs with hands to manipulate the world around them or genetically alter them into having a Humanoid form. Damn the Qu for making these gentle beings suffer horribly!
Oh my universe. This unironically was able to capture the Mantalopes existential pain so beautifully, I actually got goosebumps. The lonesome environment, the wind, them standing alone, and their wails. It makes you sink in they're Human, absolutely mutated, and absolutely self-aware. Even the small detail zooming in on their eye blipping in as Human and the shadow. Amazing job bringing out how heartbreaking their story is
It's pretty wild to see how much of a fandom has developed around All Tomorrows. I remember reading it around the time it released and thought of it as that one weird thing I read that no one else knew about. To see it blow up and have quality content like this is really cool, I'm surprised it resonated with so many people and I'm happy that so many have come to discover Koseman's work.
This is outstanding. Truly, not to decrease the value of other community's work, but this is not just a most qualified video, this is it's own experience
I love every part of this. At the end feels like the metaphor of how their music slowly became duller, the mantelope at the end not singing - a chilling, heartbreaking ending and the loss of intelligence of the mantelope slowly over evolution.
Your animations are incredible. Anyone in film knows how rare it is to be as multi-talented as Woźniakowski. This also encapsulates such a niche feeling that I feel like there's nowhere I can turn to share this with anyone else. After watching something so profound, it made me feel lonely not to be able to tell anyone. My only solace was this RU-vid comment.
2:25 I think this is hella cool… you can see that the Mantelope used to be human by its shadow… It’s really sad for the mantelopes because they used to have a life where they can be free and be… a human. But then the QU jacked up their lives and now they live in an animal like form, having to feel sadness and pain because this is not the life they wanted. They just want to be happy and be a normal human again.
This is by far your best work. Not that the other ones were bad but this is on a whole different level. If they ever make a series, it would be a crime for you not to be on board.
@@hondaaccord1399 The issue with that idea is that evolution doesn't work in random directions. There needs to be pressure, an environmental reason for intelligent mantelopes to pass on more genes than the dumb ones.
Amazing. Honestly, seeing all the All Tomorrows animations people do, I'm kinda surprised there is no All Tomorrows documentary or series out there. It's obvious people adore the concept, the look of the creatures and the entire setting. Anyways, great work with the sound specifically, really felt like an out of body experience.
This short film was beautiful! Your work so far in the All Tomorrows series you've been doing has been amazing and this piece just adds to the collection. The set dressings and camera work of this one also is probably my favorite so far- please keep doing what your doing, your work is something that you should be extremely proud of. I genuinely hope the author has or will see your work since I know they're on RU-vid.
The quality of this is impeccable- I genuinely felt like I was in an alien world and yet it was almost haunting how human it felt. I have actually chills right now, this is the best all tomorrows digital recreation I have seen by far!
I begin to slowly realize how much I actually relate to the Mantelopes, having all that knowledge and potential yet unable to actually utilize it. That's what I have observed on myself, having all the necessary skills and knowledge I need, yet still can't use them to their full potential. But atleast I'm fortunate enough to have this body and the tools I need, something that a Mantelope would never have so atleast I could have a better chance at actually succeeding. I know this sounds stupid but i actually find them relatable.
This made me tear up. Shit, despite what the Mantelopes went through, there is this sense of nostalgia but in a very beautiful and sad way. I really love them.
I must say, this is by far the most beautiful animation you’ve done. The pure beauty of their song, how you just perfectly captured the sadness of the Mantelopes. The scene where one is looking into the sky and zooms in on the eye as it flashes back to a past human, I legitimately cried. I felt that pure hopelessness and sorrow that mankind was subjugated, twisted and will never return to what it once was.
The music really gets across the mantelopes despair in ways I cannot describe. Both the visuals and music went together so well. This was so beautiful and thank you so much for your hard work. You are so incredibly talented!!!
The transaction beetween the mantilope eye and the star people eye was brillant and beautiful. Can't wait to see how epic the bug facers, gravitals and asteromorphs videos will be :D
Imagine being highly sentient and have memories of your past life yet you’re stuck inside a cattle that pretty much cant do anything but graze and sing. Truly truly sad.
