Your video answered 10 questions that the rest of the internet could not. Great content created by someone who is doing this to help people, not feed the algorithm. Oh and the way she is looking at you, a keeper this one.
Can’t thank you enough for this review/video. You literally answered all the questions that not even the Mantis website has. Just bought the laser academy kit on 9mm. Probably later on, I’ll buy the blackbeard kit.
I'm glad I could help! I try to gather as many questions that people have from a bunch of different sources when I do videos like this. Makes it easier for people to find what they are looking for. :)
Great review. Thanks for the Konami tip! Also completely agree with the spouse/partner tip. Trying to get my partner to the range is difficult. We however had a blast setting up a range in the garage and shooting basic drills in dueling mode. So much so we are going to make it a regular thing. Great video on the split screen as well. I’m okay with putting MantisX on my phone and laser Academy on my iPad. Its kinda hard to cram so much into a phone screen without making it cluttered and complicated.
My only 1 desire would be for the Blackbeard system to eventually incorporate an electronic recoil simulator in that bolt carrier group. Even if the mag battery only lasted 30-60 rounds, the user could purchase multiple mag batteries and have all this functionality along with simulated recoil that isnt as loud as a C02 gas blowback system like the CoolFire.
Fantastic in depth review! Great suggestions as well. Just got the LTA and ordered the Blackbeard. Trying to talk my brother into getting both as well. This video will help.
True story... There are training solutions out there with very high end scenarios and setups. @HaleyStragic has a new D7 course that uses projectors and lasers. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0dC0YuswklU.html Smokeless Range is another option that allows for moving targets and such with a projector. Both are way more expensive than the Laser Academy, but they also provide more training value.
Thank you for the video. This is exactly what I was looking for. We are looking to do something similar to integrate all these things together. Just a note, I am pretty sure on the "compressed" drills you are supposed to be compressed in i.e "compressed ready" as opposed to being extended out.
It's definitely a great way to get some awesome training in without any ammo or gas expenses! You're probably right about the compressed drill, I think I was going off what the app was saying and just not reading it correctly. The cool thing about something like this is that you can basically make up whatever conditions you want and get baseline times and scores. :)
Need your help (why is it short itself, on the white background like the wall.?)I have a green dot, which also has a green trace. This is on your red dot O also; it short a sound. Background 07/24/2024.
The system uses light to detect laser impacts, so if you're shooting at a very well lit white wall, the brightness of the laser impact may not be enough to work properly. That's one of the reasons the targets provided by Mantis are more grey than white. If the wall you're using is getting direct sunlight, that can also cause some problems. If you can backlight the area so it isn't in direct light, it should work better for you.
@@TheWarriorSolution Thank you for taking the time to reply.) Okay, that work. I do have 2 of the original and will take down the copies of the white. Thank you.
I looked at the Blackbeard a year or so ago and was about to order until I realized I have basically the only AR that won't work with it....Colt. Just recently found the x10 and can't wait to order it
Can you explain in a little more detail how to set up targets around the house and the shots register while you are away from your phone thats on the target. Thanks.
The shots are all recorded and calculated based on the position of your phone and it's ability to see the target. For example, you could set up targets at various distances and angles, around a corner, etc, and as long as your phone's camera can physically see them, it should be able to register the laser hits regardless of where you're shooting from.
Now that she has proven herself to be the better shooter.. when that bump in the night comes, you can let her know, you got her back. you got this Babe! lol
EXCELLENT AND VERY VERY INFORMATIVE VIDEO!!! I plan on getting the MantisX but I’m needing the AR and pistol setup. I’m wondering if they have a 45 acp?? Thank you an thank you for your timely response
Hey, thanks for the compliment! Yes, Mantis has .45 ACP and AR laser bullets available. You can add multiple additional calibers as needed directly from Mantis or wherever you'd like. Here's a link for the Laser Academy: alnk.to/3J2wmbs Here's a link to the Mantis X10 Elite (the same version I used in the video): alnk.to/e73eelT If you plan on using the Mantis X with your AR, I strongly suggest sitting on your hands for a couple of weeks. I can't say exactly why, but *cough* trust me *cough* Oct 5th.
Awesome video, just what I was looking for! Quick question with the SIRT, does it pickup the first pre-set laser as a shot or both lasers when you break the shot. So basically 2 shots for every pull of the trigger.
It picks up every laser impact on the target, so you'll want to turn off the trigger pressure laser on the SIRT if you're planning on using it with the Laser Academy. There's a little white switch on the top of the slide that disables that second laser.
Yes, you technically could, but it would have to be several meters away because of the geometry of the barrel and the available adjustments in the optic. Plus your zero would be totally F-ed if you needed to use that rifle IRL for some reason without re-zeroing it first.
Do you think there’s good value for training kids? I’m worried they would see guns as a game, I would of course stress the seriousness of firearm safety but I don’t want to have them think of guns as a toy in anyway
I think it's important to start teaching kids about firearm safety rules as soon as possible. Will they understand and respect them right off the bat? No, but over time if you keep enforcing the basics, reminding them why each rule is important, and then modeling those rules to them, they will start to respect them. As far as training, I agree that it would be a good idea to stress how serious it is and that it isn't a game. Just remember how old they are and what level of maturity to expect. Children love games, so gamifying training may end up being a big positive. Explain the safety rules, tell them there will be a prize for the person with the least amount of safety violations, (chocolate, new toy, etc) and they will start policing each other instantly to "keep score". I recently started teaching my seven year old niece and 11 year old nephew about firearm safety and they picked up very quickly.
I kind of hope the 1-10 goes away. The sweet spot for the LPVO in my opinion is 1-4 and 1-6 after that 1x starts to become dissapointing.I think companies should be working on making them lighter updated glass and more compact.Once you get past 6x MPVOs make more sense especially with the emergence of micro red dot sights. Not alot of options in the 2.5-10 or 3-9 space.Just my opinion
The red pistol is called a "SIRT" (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) made by Next Level Training. It's a dedicated laser training pistol with a resetting trigger. Another systems that works really well for not having to mess with racking the slide is the DryFire Mag.
The Mantis X3 will help develop your fundamentals, especially grip and trigger squeeze, while the Laser Academy will primarily address speed and accuracy. If you're just getting into shooting and practicing, I'd go with an X3 (or X10 if you can swing it since it has way more functions, including live fire, holster draw analysis, and more.)
Does Mantis still offer free downloadable targets? I can't seem to find them on there site. I just bought the Strikeman before I new about Mantis and I wanted to compare the two.
Yep! You can find the link to download the targets in the descriptions for the various target options. Here's the link for the Laser Academy target pack: cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0863/8944/files/LA_Targets_2.pdf?v=1604616407
So if I don’t want to rack the slide of my handgun every time, what options do I have with this system? Is the such a thing as engaging multiple targets with the handgun on this system??
The cheapest way to get multiple engagements without having to rack your slide after every shot is the DryFireMag, it's a spring loaded "magazine" that resets your trigger after every shot. Another option is a Green Gas recoil enabled Airsoft pistol and a recoil activated laser. This combo is great for realistic(ish) recoil along with multiple shots. There are more options as well, like a CoolFire Trainer, which is a drop in replacement barrel for your gun that enables recoil and multiple shots.
It depends on the lighting in the area you're shooting at. If it's super bright or there are lot of moving shadows (think white wall next to a window with a tree outside), you might get some phantom shots. The best setup for it is just even lighting without reflections, shadows, or other lights moving around in the view of the camera.
The holster I was using in the video is a Safariland 6390RDS. (thewarriorsolution.com/product/sl-6390-rds-als-glock-19-23-blk-lh/) Any light bearing holster should work, but you actually don't need a new holster if you don't already have one. The X10 comes with a mini rail you can stick on the bottom of your magazine with 3M tape and get the same results. Basically as long as the mantis is attached to the gun in some way, it should work.
Links to buy stuff I talk about in the videos will always be in the description unless RU-vid doesn't allow it. For the Laser academy, if you'd like to help support the channel, you can use this link: thewarriorsolution.com/go/mantislaseracademy For the Mantis X10 that I also showed in the video you can get it here: thewarriorsolution.com/go/mantisx10
Yes, the laser bullet activation button takes the place of the primer, so a hammer fired gun would work. It would actually work even better than a striker fired if it's double action.
My mantis laser academy laser cartridge stopped working after 1-2hr use. I figure ive drained the batteries but I put fresh new batteries in and doesn't work. What can be the cause? Is there a fix?
Is it possible that it's a striker/hammer fitment issue that isn't quite depressing the button fully? If you take the cartridge out of your gun and push the button manually, does it work normally, or is it still intermittent? If it seems like a battery issue, even with new batteries, that sounds like a manufacturing defect that should be addressed by Mantis directly. I'm sure they would be pretty fast about getting a replacement cartridge out to you if the one you got in the kit is defective. My batteries have lasted WAAAAY longer than 1-2 hours, so something else is going on.
@@TheWarriorSolution thanks for the quick response. I did just email them about it. If I touch the batteries with the inside of the end cap side wall, the light appears. When I manually press it, it doesn't work. Hopefully they can replace it. Ive only messed around with it for 1 night. I don't feel like buying a whole new cartridge or even replacement end caps.
I am a noob and cant get the mantis to even register that it is working. It is connected and the light is solid green on the sensor so tha app found the sensor bUT no dry firing causes any change in the app. I can open any drill on the app but then what? Pulling the trigger does nothing. This product sucks INHO. Mantis provides no video how to connect and begin. I appreciate your efforts but I am wasting my time and money.
